Stupid question. How does getting a bye in first session affect team points?
Tom's explanation from yesterday:

The 6 PSU wrestlers having #1 or #2 seeds does hurt PSU in the team race. That's 6 matches where they receive byes in R1, and can't generate any bonus points. Pins, defaults, forfeits, or disqualifications generate 2 team points. TFs generate 1.5 team points IF the winner was awarded NF points during the match. Majors and TFs where the winner was not awarded NF points during the match generate 1 team point.

Wrestlers with a bye (the 6 PSUers) can earn one advancement point IF they win their match in the subsequent match.

Obviously, having a bye helps a wrestler avoid fatigue and injury, so there is a bonus in having a #1 or a #2 seed. It just hurts a bit in the team race.

Solution: have the PSU wrestlers win all their matches, and get bonus points in most of them. ;)

Okay guys, my lunch break worked out well, as I got to hear Ironhead call 3 PSU R1 matches. I’m done until Session 2. Let’s get Kerk thru his R1 match, and all the PSUers thru their quarterfinal matches.

I couldn’t tell live and they didn’t show a replay. Byers could also not see it to describe it. As he noted though there was no complaining from the PSU bench so whatever it was was probably legit.
