The thing I see relative to BG and Cox is, they aren’t expected to be full time starters. Nobody played C better than Kelce. None are on long term deals
slay. ?? We will see
Yeah. Roob misses the opportunity cost of doing nothing. No way can they replace that production in new free agents for the same total $. So letting them all leave would be a net loss in 2023.

so the real question is, when do they extend Hurts?

there's been rumors (mostly reports by Eliot Shorr-Parks) that the basic outline of the contract has already been agreed to, and they're just holding off on signing it and/or resolving minor details of it.

I'm not sure what the plans are in terms of when they'll announce that Jalen has a new contract.

do you think they are trying to squeeze Hurts a little?

Yes, I do. And I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I didn't take it as a squeeze on Hurts. They know he's going to cost them a boatload of money. They'd like to keep it on terms that give them flexibility with the team, but the market kind of sets the rate. I didn't take the short answer on Mariota's mobility (which is far greater than was Minshew's) or his nebulous answer to a dumb question about urgency to sign Hurts based on what other teams are doing as any type of comment on their plans or negotiations with Hurts.

Howie is a bright guy. He knows that anything he says about Hurts or the QB room while extension talks are happening will be interpreted in a variety of ways. I give him enough credit to know this would gather some attention.

It's reasonable to think the Eagles feel they deserve some of the credit for Hurts' development. They clearly built one of the best surrounding casts in football on offense. Discussing another QB and his fit for their scheme serves as a subtle reminder of that.
