Please use this thread for all pre-Session 5, in-Session 5, and post-Session 5 discussions.

When: March 19, 11 am EDT

Where: Little Caesars Arena; Detroit, MI

TV: ESPNU, if that's part of your cable package.

Streaming: EPSN3.com (I believe you have to have ESPN as part of your cable package). If not, check out the ESPN app. Note: you can control the mat/match you watch with this.

Radio: The radio PBP with Jeff Byers will be streamed for free via LionVision. The pre-Session will start at 10:40 am EDT, with the competition at 11 am EDT. You can access the radio PBP at:

Live Brackets: You can follow the brackets on TrackWrestling at:

https://www.trackwrestling.com/Login.jsp?TIM=1647476933977&twSessionId=ddzxuhdeku

Note: The Penn State Wrestling Club also has live brackets at: https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org

Team Scoring: The Penn State Wrestling Club is usually the fastest with that info. Their team scoring information can be found at: https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org/content/tournament_team_score.php?id=27&type=team

PBP: I should be able to provide PBP. I encourage everyone to participate in discussing each match, providing your insight, asking your questions, and expressing your frustration with a move, with a ref's decision, with the outcome, etc. @GregPickel will also be providing information. Mat assignments should be pretty easy, as we only have one wrestler in Session 5, but assistance with mat assignments for upcoming PSU bouts (usually available from the TrackWrestling link listed above, or the Penn State Wrestling twitter account) are always appreciated. Collectively, we've made this work for everyone in the past, and I'm sure we'll do the same this year.

Actually we have 5 to watch, 1 PSU wrestler and 3 or 4 scUM wrestlers.

According to someone more patient than me, 23 points gained by PSU or lost by UM is magic number. Kerk finishing 5th Is 7 points, 4th 9 points, 3rd 10 points. Is that right?

A third place finish is 10 team points but I believe the current point totals already include the lowest he could finish which is sixth, that being 6 team points. So if Kerk finished in third place that'll be four more points beyond what's already calculated. He'll also receive 0.5 point for each advancement which would result in five more team points added to the current total. Maybe he can rake in some bonus points as well.

Ironically we could use some help from Iowa at 165 and 174 in the consolation brackets today. Couple of head to head matches w/ Mich ahead.

Some tuff finals match-ups. Lee’s opponent, K Clarke from NC - looks ripped. Know nothing about him- obviously way better than a 15 seed. I still think I feel good about Lee winning here

Starocci vs Mekhi Lewis - what a matchup. Should we be optimistic?

It’s a shame Amine is trying to steal a natty from a real college kid by staying 7 years. Cmon, that’s unfair, selfish and inappropriate in my eyes. Really can’t stand him, his dad, nor his ankle diving. Coward peels out of the US to wrestle for San Marino in the Olympics. Be a man, not a weasel. Typical Michigan Man BS.

Warner is tough to takedown. He can/does get tired. Not sure we can expect another bow-n-arrow, scream like a bee-otch, scenario.

D Fix is probably hopped-up on some HGH or stimulant that his Daddy prepped. He looks like he weighs 157. Really want to see RBY beat him again.

The fat lady is already clearing her throat.

Michigan has 10 matches to wrestle today and each time they step on the mat they lose at least 2 points off their maximum unless they win with bonus points.

Right now their max is 130.5, 10 straight wins without bonus points will put them at 110.5. We are at 108 now with 7 matches yet to wrestle.

So yeah, mathematically it's not over but I'm betting she will be singing before session 5 is complete.

This is where the PSU Wrestling site comes in handy. Once we have more points than UM can attain, it's over. PSU Wrestling keeps very up-to-date tracking on that.

Nice to see Iowa a distant fourth with only one finalist. Even in our recent “down” years, didn’t we still finish second?

It depends on your definition of recent. We finished 6th in 2015.

there have only been two "down" years. One ended as you indicated, and the other ended differently.

2021: Iowa - 1st, PSU - 2nd
2015: Ohio St. - 1st, Iowa - 2nd, Edinboro - 3rd, Mizzou - 4th, Cornell - 5th, PSU - 6th

Painful to see Edinboro go from third to not scoring a point. College wrestling is all about coaching

PSU still left points on the mat in the semis -- Starocci by 7 and Dean by 6 might have been majors.

Of the 5 finalists today, I think 3 are certain, 4 are probable, and 5 would be insane.

Hi Jack, nice to see you posting! By the way, I had no idea that you were in close proximity to @Coultr77 's wife.

Here we go. A couple Michigan losses here would be nice. Even if they win by decision there are still points slipping away from them. I feel good about the team title race but I'd love to see it clinched in Session 5.

Bruce, who are your "certains", who is the "probable", and who is on the "bubble"?

I see Fix being a handful for RBY, and Amine being a handful for Brooks. Both of those matches could go either way, coin flip.

I think Lee, Starocci, and Dean are shoe-ins.
