Certainly don’t want today a reverse of last year. Happy we’ve effectively clinched, but we all hammered Iowa for crapping the bed in the finals.
Depending how Schultz does tonight.Kerk should be the favorite entering next year. I think the gable match woke him up even more on how good he can be post injury. The gable match was needed. Kerk will only get stronger and bigger and better. Death line up next year gonna be real fun.
Who cares what Iowa thinks. Drop in on the Hawkeye report board and read how they are making excuses for crapping the bed big time. What time will that match take place?285 Consolation Semis: #4 seed Greg Kerkvliet vs. #7 seed Mason Parris (Michigan) (I'll use MP)
Per 1
Kerk in on a single, but they go OOB, with 2:20 left. Kerk Reaches, nothing. Kerk with a shrug-bye, and has a single, Parris with a whizzer, they scramble and Kerk gets the TD, 2-0. They are on the edge, and then OOB with 1:09 left. Paris on his base, but not much else. Parris to his feet and Kerk pushes him away, 2-1. End. RT @ 33 sec for Kerk
Per 2
Kerk takes bottom. He's out in 4 sec, 3-1. Parris shoots, Kerk sprawls, nothing. Parris shoots a low single, nothing. Kerk with a double for a TD, 5-1. OOB with 8 sec. left. Parris starts up tripped down, END. RT @ 1:05 for Kerk
Per 3
Parris takes bottom. Parris works up then back down on his butt. Kerk with a leg lace but Parris rolls thru so no NF. Parris works up to 4 ppt and back down and flattened. RT goes over 2 min, so it's locked. Stalemate with 55 sec. Parris works up and is tripped back down. Parris to his feet, and tripped back down. 15 sec left. End. With 3:05 in RT, it's a 6-1 DEC!!! He'll wrestle for 3rd
Post bout last night Steveson paid Kerk a tremendous compliment.Depending how Schultz does tonight.

What's your theory?
Or use simple mathThis is where the PSU Wrestling site comes in handy. Once we have more points than UM can attain, it's over. PSU Wrestling keeps very up-to-date tracking on that.
The fat lady is already clearing her throat.
Michigan has 10 matches to wrestle today and each time they step on the mat they lose at least 2 points off their maximum unless they win with bonus points.
Right now their max is 130.5, 10 straight wins without bonus points will put them at 110.5. We are at 108 now with 7 matches yet to wrestle.
So yeah, mathematically it's not over but I'm betting she will be singing before session 5 is complete. Cm
Half-point would be a tie for the team title (National Championship). 1-point is the National Championship!Half a point away from the team title.
Thanks Tom. I'm kinda new to the sport and unaware of the set-up for this tourney. So the Medal Round guys wrestle twice in three/four hours, right? Does this mean that Kerk cinched fourth place?I can't give you an exact time. They are down to 3 mats, where they wrestle the 3rd place, the 5th place, and the 7th place match, for each weight class. They just started with 125, and will work up to 285.

It’s amazing how every single year that the Bull (or should we now say “”Veal”) Marinelli crapped the bed in the NCAA’s vs expectations. For all the hoopla, bat-**** weirdo wife, surrounding puffery, there was a very small wrestler behind the curtain, for the 17 years of collegiate wrestling…Half-point would be a tie for the team title (National Championship). 1-point is the National Championship!
That shows heart, determination, endurance, along with skillLucas Byrd (Illinois) loses in R1, and wrestled all the way through consolations to finish 5th, and wins by a pin in the 5th place match. I love things like that in wrestling.
By my count he wrestled seven matches in three days. I think he earned a day or two off.Lucas Byrd (Illinois) loses in R1, and wrestled all the way through consolations to finish 5th, and wins by a pin in the 5th place match. I love things like that in wrestling.
And as long as he doesn’t pin Teemer, the title is ours? I’m still learning.
Question: For these consolation matches are the team points awarded for a win the same as those awarded for winning a championship match?I hadn't thought of it that way (he clinched 4th place), but I guess that's correct. He can't finish lower than 4th place.
No problem on the rest. We're happy to help everyone build their wrestling knowledge.
3rd place 4, 4th place 3, 5th place 1.Question: For these consolation matches are the team points awarded for a win the same as those awarded for winning a championship match?

No. I don't know the exact figures, but if you are in the 7/8 match, your team, already gas the points for 7th. The differential between 7 and 8 isn't that great. Somebody else would know the details. Tom said it better than meQuestion: For these consolation matches are the team points awarded for a win the same as those awarded for winning a championship match?
Gomez - Andonian, go for it the 2nd time. I hope we have as many fireworks as they did yesterday.
Yeah, you pretty much missed my point.Who cares what Iowa thinks. Drop in on the Hawkeye report board and read how they are making excuses for crapping the bed big time. Went from a team loaded with old men, supposedly invincible, at the start of the season to a big bust
