Uggh. An outfielder who barely hits his weight and strikes out 30% of the ttime? Still, Odubel is gone, so they add by subtraction. They are no worse overall with that move.

I like Robertson, healthy. They have a nice bullpen and he only strengthens it in the ninth inning. That’s a plus.

They need a starter and they just might make a run.

Segura comes back on Thursday and Harper had the screws removed from the repaired thumb and was cleared to get back to workouts.

In other trade news, ex-Phil Darin Ruf was dealt to the Mets. I didn't even know he was still playing.

I get dealing Moniak. Maybe he'll tear it up with LAA but he certainly didn't develop as quickly as the team would have liked. He's also 24 and the outfield is a crowded place on the Phils' roster.

So we picked up a starting pitcher, a relief pitcher, and a outfielder that can play all 3 outfield positions.

They did give up some good prospects, but they addressed some of the bigger issues on the team.

FWIW, Robertson looked really good pitching against the Phils in the recent Cubs series.

They - by and large - got better overall for 2022 without giving up their top prospects.

None of the names are show stoppers, I see them as considerably better for the balance of this season.

O'Hoppe was one of their top prospects (I think their 5th best at the start of this season), but with JT at catcher his path was questionable. Brown, who they gave up for Robertson, had just been bumped up a level, and was moving up the prospect rankings. (If I recall correctly, he had undergone surgery after being drafted, and was finally showing the promise they thought he had when they picked him.)

The team is certainly better today than they were before the trades.

It’s safe to say the “starter by committee” approach last night was a resounding failure. Oh well.

I was reading up on Marsh more today. I’m a bit more optimistic about that deal now. I was hoping O’Hoppe would get them a more proven player, but it does make sense the more I read about it. If the Phil’s can get him to bat 30 points higher and get some of that power out of him, it’s definitely a win for the Phillies.

Releasing Didi is a surprise. Anyone have a line on the timing and what this gives them besides opening a roster spot?

Believe that's the final "Girardi piece" if you will to go, as well. He seemed like a great guy but was almost an automatic out.

a likable guy, and a good fielder. He's had some timely hits with the Phils during his time in Philadelphia, but I think his BA was around .200. Stott has been a pleasant surprise this year, so between Segura's return, the addition of Sosa last week, and all the other roster moves, there probably wasn't a lot of starting time available for Didi. And if he wasn't starting, his bat didn't warrant a place on the bench as a pinch hitter.

Syndegaard laying gopher balls up there. Lost a lot on his fastball and also Moniak homered for the Angels in a loss.
