Idk what happens tonight but it’s great watching first take this AM and all Steven A and the rest are bitching about the Cowboys !
oh it’s great
Orlovosky wants MM, Dak and Dan Quinn fired. Burn it down n start over!!

the more they scapegoat their coaches and players, the better for us anti-cowboys fans. They’re treating symptoms instead of cutting out the cancer. The 81 year old oil and gas cancer. The worst thing that could happen to eagles fans is he retires or withdrawals from football operations (which he never will…. Thus…..) or if he dies. Stephen is 10 times his daddy in terms of capability.

PS: Skip and Irving’s pain is the ultimate pleasure for this eagles fan…

Enjoying the the Cowgirls media meltdown more than the game yesterday. These beeyatches should be impartial or be fired. Never see Terry or Howie or any other team's players getting all butt hurt like this when their team loses. Not getting my hopes up for tonight because of the way the team has been trending. Dallas' defense looked like the Eagles defense from the past several weeks. If we can actually stop TB from scoring we may have a chance.

Why do I think AJ will have a hand in Nicks undoing
Welcome to modern pro sports. The players have leverage over the coaching staffs. It’s easier to change coaches in an offseason than to turn over 25 players on a roster.

The old adage, “it’s not the X’s and O’s, it’s the Jimmys and Joes” still holds true. Look at Belichek in New England.

Going to be interesting to see what happens. Sirianni has lost this team, the players have zero confidence in him and the staff. Lurie has a big decision to make, fire the entire staff including Sirianni except for Stoutland or tell Sirianni to keep Stoutland and fire everyone else. I would imagine if Sirianni refuses to get rid of coordinators and coaches he will be gone as well. I can't remember a team collapsing like this heading into the playoffs. Eagles schemes on offense and defense were horrific. Does anyone remember McCaffery from the 49ers on MNF with the Mannings and he was literally calling out every play where it was going. Once there was enough game film on the Eagles the coordinators could not adjust to what teams were doing against them. Brutal to watch, that seem's to be when the players lost confidence in the coaching staff. That is on Sirianni and the staff. No idea what Lurie will do I think Lurie demands he can the entire staff except for Stout and gives him 1 year to turn it around but would not blame Lurie for letting Sirianni go, this collapse was historic and embarrassing for Lurie.

I’m WFT first last always but I have lately enjoyed following the Eagles, surely in very large part to the Birds mania showing up on this board. They are an easy team to like and I really respected the culture I believed the organization had. I had been wondering if their numerous close calls (WFT in overtime at the Linc, for example) indicated a problem that was going to emerge sooner or later. They couldn’t fix their problems, let alone identify them. They just didn’t improve much through the season. You’re right, I can’t immediately recall a collapse of this magnitude. Before the game yesterday I had wondered if the Eagles were already beaten. Turns out I was right. Shocking.

What is amazing to me is fine, teams got game film on the Eagles and adjusted. But the Eagles OC/DC never adjusted. The book on the Eagles is now blitz Hurts. Tampa Bay didn't even disguise they were coming and blitzing last night and the Eagles just never adjusted once San Fran and the rest showed how to beat them. The WRs were running on top of each other down field and not even almost recognizing it was a blitz and hot read. When they did break off their routes it was out in the flats. Troy Aikman said it last night the WR/TE were not going were the blitz came from to go to that hole left by the blitzer and cut off their routes. It's a real head scratcher, 1 of the big reasons I believe the players gave up on the coaching staff. No adjustments and really showed me how good Shane Steichen was at calling plays last season for the Eagles and like him or not Gannon was at calling defenses for the Eagles. I would gladly trade Shane Steichen for Nick Sirianni right now. Steichen almost took a bad Colts team to the playoffs in his first year.

fwiw I do not believe the Eagles have this concept in their playbook, hot read., believe it or not. SMH does not seem right but if you watch them, there is no evidence of it.
That said whoever the coach is 2024, in OTA's I'd spend half the practice working on how to handle the blitz. Every Blitz the Eagles saw in 2023 should be broken down and repped on the field witha blitz beater

Based on the Eagles performance I totally agree with you. The Eagles looked totally confused and had no idea what to do with blitzing. Tampa Bay almost was laughing as they could see the Eagles had no idea what to do with blitzing. Guys coming completely free on a blitz and WR/TE running 15-20 yards downfield with their backs to the QB. Mind boggling.... No wonder Hurts was so banged up and playing hurt this year.

Do you know this for a fact? They got to the Super Bowl last year, it's hard to believe that the wheels can come off so fast.

Well considering Hurts didn't give Sirianni an endorsement after the game take that as you will...

Like this 3rd and 2 early in the game, where it appears the plan is to run 4 verticals instead of using the middle of the field for 2 yards?
Shame on the staff for not addressing the problems with the blitz when it was painfully obvious to everyone.

The biggest problem I have with all of this is, it’s not like they didn’t know it was coming. The first NYG game they got a dose and then last week they got more!!! And they weren’t ready for it!!

Huh? The clips I saw it was the opposite
Take a look at the Inquirer with their lead story that says

"Jalen Hurts’ lukewarm endorsement of Nick Sirianni may be the final nail in the Eagles coach’s coffin"

I am not reading tea leaves I am just discussing what all print media, talking tv heads, etc are reporting. As stories are being broken sounds like the Eagles and Cowboys both would like Belicheck and are bidding quietly behind the scenes to get him and if they can they would move on from Sirianni or McCarthy. Otherwise probably both teams stay put with their current head coaches.

I am not saying its right just what is being reported :) Personally I think Lurie gives Sirianni 1 more year on the condition he let's go of his entire coaching staff minus Stoutland. The only way I see Sirianni gone is if the Eagles were to land BB or Harbaugh. I don't see Harbaugh coexisting with Howie and Lurie

well we see things a little differently, he needs to let the OC and the DC go, there will be a couple more. But this time he needs to pick his coordinators, not Howie or JL. I do not see a reason to get rid of the STC I think they improved this year. We will see if they really wanted to right this ship they would give him a 2 yr extension. Meaning he is the man, and we are behind him. With out that , theres too much twisting in the wind. With his record, hed get hired tomorrow by someone else. Or he pulls a Doug, chills out for a yr on JL money, and comes back in the next cycle.

Where did you see that Howie or Lurie picked the coordinators? Everything I saw said that Howie and Lurie gave Sirianni a list of candidates and let Sirianni pick. If you mean that they need to let Sirianni handle the entire process from the beginning, I can agree with that.

if they say here's your list you can pick from, thats not the same as hiring who you want. Its the same thing that ran Doug out. so thats exactly what I am saying. I can see Nick saying to them, listen you gave me a list, and I picked 2 from it, and they sucked so now I have my own list. Hey I am 34-17 beeen to the playoffs 3 straight years including the SuperBowl, I can get a job anywhere in the NFL. the real question is why does Howie not sign a LBer worthy of playing in the NFL? Why arent our safties worth a crap? can you get anyone who can tackle? Now after all of this, I think I deserve an extension.

Well, Lane Johnson appears to be stepping into Jason Kelce's shoes as a team leader. (Not that he wasn't a leader before, but he's much more prominent now that Kelce is retired.) Johnson is pissed at his fellow teammates for sulking and acting like they were going through the motions, and he's gone public with it (without naming any names). Not surprising.

The Eagles have got a solid core of quality veterans and some great young players (such as Carter), but they need to make a coaching change and jettison a few players (e.g., Bradberry and a couple of WR's who seem absolutely incapable of getting themselves open). I think Hurts is good QB and a good (albeit relatively quiet) team leader. Wonder if the Eagles are willing to spend the dough to sign Saquon. He would be a good fit at RB, and the kind of guy you want in your locker room. Especially now.

Why would Siriani be on a hot seat?
What a difference a week can make, no? I'm still shaking my head in disbelief.

And BTW, it's like Madam Fortune just gave the Niners a huge gift. The NFC's next best two teams (in my book, that's still the Eagles and Cowboys) are out. Never would have thought that would happen.

It’s hard to poke holes in that approach. Nick’s won in Philly. A lot. He’s young and can be expected to learn and grow.

He’s also now going into year 4 of a 5 year contract. That’s a tough hiring position to be in to attract the kind of coordinators they need. The Eagles may need to extend him a year or two for appearances.

What stands out is how bad the schemes and calls got down the stretch. It looked as if Nick either had no control or exerted too much control and threw things off the rails.

Sometimes I wonder if Nick knew how to fix things on O but let things get so bad because that was the only way the upper brain trust would let him fire the OC. I know that’s crazy talk. But would not surprise me I agree Nick needs an extension and said so a few weeks ago. If there’s any doubt in a players mind of who’s in control that will stop that
