Long analysis on the Eagles O.

I said in another tread, at OTA's this spring, if they dont spend 1/2 hr a day on how to handle the blitz, then they should be fired.

Running 4 verticals on 3rd and 2 is just dumb, is it the play called by OC, the adjustment QB makes at LOS, or WRs getting confused on the routes? Either way, WRs should now the game situation at this level, I need 2 yds so someone should make a cut at 3 yards and get open. That's just football knowledge unless they are thinking they can out smart everyone at that level, which just seems dumb

Football is a complimentary sport. Eagles have an old and slow D on the back end. Constant 3-5 and outs took its toll. Save for the away cowboys game, every game that the eagles lost in the last 7 were very close games at half. Then the D fell apart. Just looks so much like the D got gassed, which was exacerbated by the O not going on prolonged drives. And the O didn't go on prolonged drives because Brian Johnson is a terrible play caller. Desai's D was NOT bad (not like the last 4 games bad) throughout the year. beat KC at KC and held the Dolphins to 17. the losses to the 9ers and cowboys at jerrahworld while were bad looking at the final score, weren't bad losses in general. I really think you prolong some drives, things are much different.

that video breakdown that Orlovsky did that shows a 0 blitz and the middle of the field wide open with 4 (essentially) streak routes is just sickening.... stuff of nightmares.....

Yeah, the D getting gassed was a major problem with all the offenses of the 90s that went 3 and out as well.

Not so fast my friend. According to Fat Charlie of NFL radio he still has to present his plan to Jeffrey on how to fix things, and Jeffrey has to approve. Iiirc this is what lead to Doug downfall
Nothing against Weis, but why would Howie be working coordinator circles in person if he wasn’t bought in on keeping Nick?

Yeah, patricia was the obvious next to go. I don't understand why Brian Johnson is getting HC interviews. I get the Rooney thing, but after that offensive collapse?
I hope that doesn’t stop the Eagles from interviewing new OCs. Can’t sit back and let all the top candidates get hired.

Iirc they are trying to get Jim Bob Cooter back. But he has a contract w the Colts. He’s OC there but does not call their plays. I’d take him

BJ is out. It’s good they acted reasonably fast. Grab your popcorn for the replacement search.

DC candidates indicate the search for a “bad cop” tough guy to complement Nick’s rah-rah style. They could go in many directions on offense.

Kotelnicki and Allen to the Iggles. Patricia, Desai, and Johnson to PSU.

“Sirianni's job status has been a source of speculation following Philadelphia's 1-6 finish to the season. He'll have to rebuild key parts of his staff, and sources told ESPN on Monday that former Commanders coach Ron Rivera is interviewing for the vacant defensive coordinator post.”

EDIT: I just saw sluggo’s post above.

Met Riverboat Ron a few years ago. Super down to earth and surprisingly calm dude. Roob said the other day on the eagle eye podcast they're looking for experienced OC/DCs that can operate independently. I think they realized that with Steichen and Gannon, Sirianni could just let them handle their respective sides, but with Desai and Johnson, Nick had to be a lot more involved. Hence why they brought Patricia in as an experienced DC to help Desai if needed.

On D, I'd like to see Rivera. Even heard Leslie Frasier is looking to possibly come back. Wouldnt' mind him either.

ok, I've taken enough time off from the Birds. I needed to step back and take a bit of a break after the playoff loss. The break did me well.

I don't think this will be good news to the "run the ball" crowd. :(

Sounds like a Howie interview!!
I am quite familiar with Kingsbury during his time at Texas Tech. He ran an air raid siren spread offense throw happy concepts. Very much a boom or bust effort. His big issue was when he needed run production . As the Eagles showed in our most current Super Bowl year the Eagles success was a result of a good mix of a dominate run game and efficient pass concepts. I would be concerned with his ability to develop a solid run game. I would pass on him. Too boom or bust for my taste.

Visions of Chip Kelly's red zone O in those back to back losses against SF and Arizona in 2014.

Not much new in this - just a report on the "reports." It does give more background on Vince.
