Having anybody on D that can tackle will really make a difference!!I like this signing. The guy is scrappy and can really tackle from the slot. Slay and Bradberry are turnstiles in the secondary. Having a slot CB who can tackle will really aid the defense.

Meh. I'm not a fan of this trade. The Eagles got worse, IMO. Trading Huff (still unproven, IMO) for Reddick (highly productive) is a gamble. The 3rd/2nd rounder helps but not until 2026 at the earliest. This team's window is now.
Why couldn’t they just let him play 2024 under his current contract?? And let him walk which is basically what they did ( a 2026 third rounder? Please)I concur.
I haven't seen an in-depth analysis of things, but a lot of indications have been given in the past several weeks that the Birds and Reddick were not close (numbers wise) on a new contract. If that's accurate, then the Birds were kind of handcuffed. The rest of the league knew they wanted/had to trade Reddick, and that he only had one year left on his contract and was seeking a big pay raise on his next salary.
I was hoping that the two sides (Birds & Reddick) could come to an agreement, and that the local angle (Reddick is from Camden, NJ -- just across the river from Philadelphia) would help them get to that agreement. It appears that Reddick was not giving any type of local discount. So, the Birds did the best they could in the situation.
A 3rd (or a 2nd) round draft pick in 2026 and a flip of Huff for Reddick isn't a disaster. But I don't think you can make a compelling argument that the Birds are better as a result of the signing of Huff and the trade of Reddick.

Believe it or not Sileo had a pretty good break down on Riddick Basically a one trip pony although a good trick
I’d take a 15 sack season from Reddick in 2024 and a compensatory 3rd rounder in 2026 over what they got. Oh well. Howie knows a lot more than me.there's been talk/speculation that the Birds have made real efforts to improve the locker room this offseason. Often that speculation has also included the idea that the Birds didn't want to have an unhappy Reddick play out his contract, and be a malcontent in the locker room during the season. I have no idea if any of this is accurate; just passing along things that have been mentioned/speculated.
If Reddick had a good 2024 season, and signed a big contract next offseason, the Birds likely would have gotten a compensatory pick in the 3rd round. As I mentioned in my reply to @WestSideLion, the Birds weren't in a great trade position. So they basically traded for what they likely would have received anyway (with the possibility of it becoming a 2nd round pick) and added Huff as a FA signing. I think they did as well as could be expected.
Think Blakenship figures it guarantees some more money and for the Eagles it locks up a solid player. Works from both in my mind.Interesting. I wonder if the Eagles or Blankenship pushed for such a short-term deal.
