This Phillies team is doing what it does best tonight: squandering quality scoring chances. It's amazing how their lineup and bullpen weaknesses have come back to haunt them in the last 4 games of this series. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

This may loom large in Phillies lore.

Why is Turner bunting on a pitch right down the middle? Fouls it and grounds out on the second pitch out of the zone.
The past couple of games Turner has morphed back into the player he was at the beginning of the year. Looks like he has zero confidence.

Topper’s pitching decisions in game 4 looming really large right now.

Game 4 will specifically haunt all of us for a long time if there is no comeback.

Harper just misses a HR to left field.

2 outs, and Schwarber on 2nd. Can't leave him out there.
Yeah, it has a D-Backs hits "finding a hole" and the Phillies "just missing" vibe. :cautious:

Even Harper's previous at bat before that he smoked one, but right at Carroll...

Please let me be wrong.

I love this team and clubhouse, but they don't have many clutch players. They're great when things are going great and the ball is flying off their bats. But they get that deer in headlights look when things get tight. I hope someone finds the fortitude needed to make a play.

Arizona is playing how you play if you want to win playoff games. They're not at the plate looking to slug their way to a victory.

It really comes down to games 3 and 4. The Phillies had their foot on Arizona's throat and effed it up. Win either of those and they're in the World Series.

I get the Casty at-bats have been terrible, but Rojas batting with 2 outs and the bases loaded might have been the biggest AB in the game. Sooner or later he was going to hit in a huge spot. None bigger than that.

Assuming D-backs win this will be the second year in a row that the lowest seed in the NL goes to the WS. Phillies last year with 87 regular season wins and D-backs this year with just 84. Hard to believe.

Excellent plate discipline. Not trying to do too much with two strikes. Phillies searching for the long ball. Still hope, but they need a crooked inning. Pitching to Carroll with a base open is the key decision so far. If its first and second, he can't steal to get into scoring position. Have to beat the 3 guys who have shut them down.

Probably should have pinch hit for him but the bench is really weak.

Pache and then Schwarber draw walks with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th for Saalfrank. DBacks going to the 'pen for Ginkel.

Turner needs to find his mojo for this AB.

Don't know why he left ranger in to face Carroll.

I'm calling this one, gang. It was a solid season, but this roster continues to be deeply flawed. Dombrowski needs to rethink it.

Homeritis. I'm a big Trea Turner fan, but that was an awful at bat. First 3 pitches were out of the strike zone. I've yipped about pitching to Carroll, but 3 runs in 16 innings at home at match point? When was the last line drive hit by a Phillie in this game? Marsh?

Not sure why any opposing pitcher would ever feel the need to throw in the strikezone. Just keep everything low and outside and nevertheless very rarely ever give up a walk. 🤷‍♂️

Should be 4-4 Stott should have scored in the 3rd and Schwarber should have been bunted over by Turner and on Harpers drive to the track scores.

IF the Phillies miraculously do come back, remember that Turner catch as a turning point...
