Bullpen and lack of contact in the lineup. You saw it after the first two NLCS games. Why not? Texas is far from invincible.
And trade the dollars Nola wants for a better starter. I know Nola’s strengths but he’s not consistently top tier. They need that behind Wheeler to go next level.Trade Casty, resign Rhys, move Bryce back to right field, need better bullpen and another starter.
The Diamondbacks showed the Phillies hitters nothing they hadn’t already seen during the regular season. There is also scouting out the wazoo, “Pitcher A tends to throw B in situation C.” That’s a constant. It wasn’t coaching that killed the Phils, not that you said as much.Phillies wasting no time: The assistant hitting coach and the BullPen Coach have not been invited back next season. I would expect a few more adjustments next. I also believe that the teams GM will be aggressively shopping the market for hitting talent as well In the off-season.
Hard to imagine Hoskins coming back. That single move unleashes a bunch of stuff that I don’t think the Phillies want. Unless you trade Nick, Harper to right means Castellanos has to move to left. Nick has worked hard to be a productive RF’er and you’d be asking him to move. It also means Marsh becomes your CF’er and Rojas has no starting role. I think Marsh deserves the opportunity to see all pitching so I don’t believe you want to platoon Marsh and Rojas.I hope like heck the Phillies don't resign Hoskins. He's the worst defensive first baseman in baseball.
Sry on Rhys no do not want him back. I never want to see him in the field at first base in a Phil’s uniform. Too much of a butcher.
Hoskins coming back impacts the defense more than anything. With Schwarber, Realmuto and Castellanos and Turner the Phil's have all the strikeouts they need, and Hoskins would just add to that total. Rojas just turned 23 so he's young and I think he can be a 260 hitter at least. I hope Bryce stays at first base and have Castellanos, Rojas and Marsh in the outfield. Just my thoughts. Also, I know good pitchers are hard to come by but if the Phillies give Nola more than 3 years, I'm afraid they will be eating the last few years of the contract.Hard to imagine Hoskins coming back. Now Dombrowski did say that Rojas has to earn the CF job but I believe they want him to show them that he deserves CF.
Hoskins coming back impacts Harper, Nick, Marsh, and Rojas not to mention the salary considerations for anything beyond a show me one season salary with Nick. I think the Phillies need as much salary flexibility as possible to deal with Nola rather than add Hoskins to the mix.
Now I’m sure it will happen that Rhys comes back on a one year deal but I think that move impacts too many other areas to ultimately happen.
