Kamilla Soares, yes that is Cardoso
13pts(6/7) 8 reb 2 assists 2 steals 1 block in 17 minute for Brazil. Really filled the stat sheet.
We play them in two days. Should be an interesting matchup since Team USA starts Angel Reese at the 5.

Wonder if Angel got into foul trouble. The minutes were pretty evenly distributed for the most part but Angel only played 11 which I found interesting.

Looks like now that Talaysia has decided to transfer that Milaysia is taking her number.

Seems to be an amicable split if she’s still promoting our girls. Still wish she would stay though :(

COOP was #11. Milaysia is getting #12 so I'm still hoping

File this under interesting, weird, statement of where we are as a program, a set up for disappointment.

Of the top 13 recruits on HoopGurlz only 3 have committed. The other 10 all have offers from us and I believe we are in the final group of at least 7 of them.

And you have to think we will make the Final Cut for Edwards as well!

Brazil's defense has been kind of shakey in the tournament, but their offense is impressive. They surround Kamilla with players who can shoot and space the floor nicely.

Highlight reel a must watch. She can smoke 3s.
The thing I love about Tessa and you see it in every one of highlight clips. She has textbook perfect shooting form.

She always squares up, even in traffic or if it is a somewhat acrobatic drive. She uses her legs to power the jump or spot up shot. Same shooting motion every time with form, release and follow through. It is also just so fundamentally sound with how and where she holds the ball and how she aims her elbow.

The questions I have are,
Can she get her own shot or will she be solely a spot up shooter?
What is the extent of her range? On the line or 2-3 feet beyond? Can she extend that range whatever it is?
With such perfect form will she need to quicken her release?

USA went with a big starting lineup today, most likely because of Kamilla.

But Brazil is up 10 at the half. +9 when Kamilla was on the court.

USA with only 2 assists and 25 points. The offense needs to improve.

Whew what a turnover and foul riddled game. I’m only following the play by play but Rickea appears to be a turnover machine today and Angel can’t seem to get going. Solid minutes by Raven but they all appear to be having a bad day. Kamilla not playing that great either :/

USA shot 28%. We had 4 assists and 20 turnovers. That's some ugly offense. But when we throw a team together for a few weeks, we can't expect a lot of offensive cohesiveness.

Definitely looked put together and I didn't like the rotation either.

Both Angel Reese and Rickea Jackson need work on their midrange game. Bad decision to start them with Betts.

Wonder if the coaching staff regrets not putting Morrow on this team.

Morrow is a more volume scorer so she does not put up high percentages. With her only being 6'0 and the international length of most other countries, she might have been a liability.

Oh, I know. That's why I was lukewarm about her coming here. But, with 12 roster spots to fill, I might consider putting her on the Americup team in case of emergency. That emergency being the offense isn't working at all. And that's where the team is right now. I'm not sure there is enough time to clean up this offense. They need a scorer who's willing to shoot and use their rebounding, the team's best asset, to score on the put back, if missed. All the turnovers from the team trying to pass is killing them.

I desperately want Feagin to start but I can see Watkins starting in Saxton’s spot just for her jump ball abilities. Hopefully she and feagin get comparable minutes no matter who starts.
I would take the Watkins starting, from Emily with a grain of salt. She follows the team, but has been wrong on a number of issues and takes as it relatest to Gamecockwbb in the past two years. I would put much more stock into an article written by Chris Wellbaum in terms of projected starters. I would think, Feagin would get the first chance at that starting position, because as Dawn has stated she is the most talented post player and I think she would be the best compliment to Cardoza up front. This would produce the fire power we lost in points with Boston and help the team to be balanced offensively enought to continue to be elite. She also has waited her turn, while many schools have probably pursued her in back channel methods to transfer and become an immediate starter.

We all know that Dawn isn't concerned that her starting lineup is her best lineup. She really likes a "spark" off the bench. So she might prefer Feagin off the bench since she can provide scoring with Cardoso off the floor and Paopao possibly running point (I predict they will be our 2 leading scorers).

However, as Sharris pointed out, Dawn also values seniority. So I'm not ruling out Feagin starting. I also think we have some other potential "sparks" in Kitts and Fulwiley. Do you remember BCM her freshman year? She would come in and be absolutely electric. It wasn't always good basketball but it was fun. I could Fulwiley generating the same kind of excitement when she enters the game this coming season.

Brazil has some, um, grown women on their team.

We might not be able to throw together college kids and beat veteran national teams for the championship.

We'll see. We're up 50 on Cuba right now.

Starting is one thing, finishing at crunch time is another. Unless Watkins cleans up her free throw shooting she will be on the bench in crunch time. Abysmal 47% from the line last year, and she just looked bad doing it.

Feagin shoot 75% from the line last year
