Cooper needs the ball in her hands to be her best. The last time she had extended minutes at PG was against Florida. I think she had 5 turnovers. Her confidence seemed a bit shaken. Dawn didn't blow up at her or anything. Destanni after all used to turn the ball over a lot as a freshman. But Destanni was perhaps our best outside shooter.

It's got to be tough being in the same class as Raven (don't forget she redshirted). Cooper might have never started at PG here. And next season I believe Paopao was promised some minutes at PG. She has stated she wanted the ball in her hands more. And then, of course, Fulwiley likes the ball in her hands too.

I wish Cooper have toughed it out though. I love to have South Carolina players on the team. I wanted her to succeed here.

And I agree with CockyGirl about Feagin. I'm rooting for her next season about as hard as I've ever rooted for a player. I wanted her to prove that a player can barely play at Carolina for 2 seasons and have a breakout season her junior year.

Ok let’s switch gears … Madisen McDaniel is on her official this weekend 😍The person with her appears to be some sort of content creator. On another note it’s interesting that she’s wearing a 23 jersey as she is a 24 recruit. Usually the recruits where a jersey that refers to the year of their recruiting class.

My guess is Cooper will land at UGA or Ole Miss...just a hunch...
Per Chris Wellbaum
Before committing to South Carolina, Cooper announced a top seven that included Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech

OM yes but substitute A&M for UGA, remember Taylor is now coaching A&M. UT recruited her really hard and they have a Mass talent exodus after this season.

Some recent players who transferred:

Talaysia Cooper
Sania Rivers
Enya Russell
Te'a Cooper
Bianca Jackson
BCM (to West Virginia for a minute)
Araion Bradshaw

The common trait is they all like to play with the ball in their hands. Not surprisingly Dawn is able to recruit so many gifted ball handlers considering she is one of the greatest PGs of all time. But there are only so many players who can handle the ball and the competition is stiff. I believe that is the reason for most of our recent attrition, which hasn't harmed the program very much since they are leaving because we have ball handlers.

Of course, there are outliers like LaDazhia Williams. Haley Troup ran point at Mizzou, but I don't think that's why she left.

Good point about recruiting ball handlers and a few thoughts.

Troup was not the primary PG or ball handler at Mizzou, Dembele was. Troup did have a decent career though.

Bianca Jackson was a success at FSU

Aarion Bradshaw major success at Dayton, in the record books several places on assists. 3 time all D in conference and DPOY once. Graduated with engineering degree and TWO Masters degrees in engineering and started successful non profit while in school. Keeps her championship ring but never wears it. Once said something to the effect “I didn’t earn”. She is who you want your daughter to be or your son to marry

T’ea Cooper, well she scored points at Baylor

Sania Rivers still waiting but trending⬆️

Eniya Russell, deep sigh, hope she figures it out.

Talayasia Cooper who knows

Yeah, I should have said Troup ran SOME point at Mizzou. She was the primary ball handler when Dembele was off the court. Fans on the Tiger board would always complain that Dembele was athletic but made bad decisions and Troup made good decisions but lacked athleticism.

I agree she had a solid career. Unfortunately, Mizzou fans weren't always as appreciative.

Best decision Troup made was to transfer. She was here for about a month. Took the team tour to Japan and went OMG I’m not in Kansas anymore

I’m going to assume their guess is SC instead of paying for the day pass :). They are usually correct. I saw where someone shared their tweet (about a 5 star transfer) after we found out about Coop and said it was indeed about Talaysia.

So if it is McDaniel then where do y’all think Jaloni goes? I’m assuming they both won’t come here.

This is where I wish I knew someone on staff.

Has Cambridge cooled on us? Have we cooled on her?

McDaniel has really moved up in the rankings, is she still under ranked? Did DS get up close evaluation and decide she is totally healthy and better than Jaloni?

Did McDaniel just jump at the chance to come here? Did DS say “I need a PG, McDaniel is great and Cambridge while great is not worth the risk of waiting and possibly losing both?”

I feel like Dawn couldn’t put all her eggs in one basket (Jaloni’s) and McDaniel was smart enough to know she needed to pull the trigger first if she wants to come here. I still feel like Dawn would take both but doubt both will come here. I feel like it will be LSU or Louisville for Jaloni.
Still puzzled as to why that would push Coop to leave … I mean she knew we were recruiting them. Of course the reclassifying thing is still my guess but time will tell.

I just don't see Cambridge coming here. Not with Raven already here with 3 years of eligibilty left.

LSU is going with the big girl, a 5th year senior, at point guard next season rather than bring in another player. That clears the way for Cambridge to start immediately as a freshman. And I'm sure she could start at Louisville right away as well.

I could be wrong, but if Dawn is bringing in another point guard, then she doesn't appear very confident either.

On the bright side: if we land McDaniel to go along with Raven and Fulwiley, we are loaded at PG for years to come.

Good thoughts! I’m not sold on Kateri Poole as their PG and Don’t forget LSU brought in Velez at PG this year. She was ranked #35 and was joined at the hip with Del Rosario all through HS and they were a 2fer.

I think Cooper didn't realize how things would shake out until summer ball. I predict Paopao will get the most minutes at PG besides Raven. Not sure Coop anticipated that when Paopao transferred. And then there is Fulwiley. Is Dawn allowing her to play with ball in her hands or off the ball? Based on Cooper's transfer, I'm guessing she's playing point in summer practice.

I know you expressed the wish she stick it out another year. Obviously I feel the same. But from her perspective: if Paopao is going to be the backup PG, it's unlikely Coop would get alot of minutes this season. So she would be out 2 years of eligibilty, having played little. At least Sania Feagin could see the real possibility that she could start as a junior. I'm not sure that was a possibility for Talaysia.

And Cooper got a real good view of PaoPao and Fulwiley at point with Raven gone training with the Americup team

HVL is supposed to get a lot of time at PG to be able to hone her skills for the WNBA. Kateri will definitely not get as much playing time this year but she has already transferred once so she is probably stuck until she graduates.

I assume HVL is one and done. But I guess she could take a COVID year.

Not that this really means anything. Just thought it was interesting

Montverde has had 4 players in the last 2 years in top 💯
Barker A&M
Shephard Miss St
Jah Gamecocks
Vasconcelos Baylor

The Cambridge family is savvy to the recruiting game, like you said who knows. But I think it does rule out her reclassifying

In other news, the Ball Out reports that the #7 player, Imari Berry, has only visited Clemson and doesn't appear interested in visiting other schools. The Ohio State coach is reportedly frustrated. The Ball Out seems confused why a top prospect would be so interested in Clemson. lol

Thanks!! Coach Abe at UGA is a good coach but their playing style just cannot be attractive to an up tempo point guard.

Amanda Butler is doing a pretty good job with TIllman Tech. They had 14 straight losing seasons before she arrived. In that time they were 37-175 in ACC games a .174%

She has raised them from being a laughingstock to just simply being a bad team struggling to get to .500 She has signed a top 💯 recruit every season but all of them have left except Soph. Ruby Whitehorn. Interestingly all of them have been 2 guards. She has had massive portal turnover every season. In spite of this she has fielded teams that play with great effort and for their talent level are pretty good on the defensive end.

She is still recruiting the hell out of Joyce Edwards. Pitching her to come and be THE ONE!

Raven scored 8 points, with 4 rebounds and 3 assists coming off the bench today for Team USA. Lauren Betts also came off the bench. Coach is obviously aware how good RJ was with the entry pass to Cardoso last season.
Kamilla Soares, yes that is Cardoso
13pts(6/7) 8 reb 2 assists 2 steals 1 block in 17 minute for Brazil. Really filled the stat sheet.

Who was the starting lineup?
