Does Littleton count, if we're counting PaoPao.
No, Yes, well sorta, maybe, I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️???
California prep star who originally signed with the Trojans, then when they fired Cynthia Cooper went to Texas.

When she came here she frankly was a reclamation project. Had not lived up to hype. Sat out a year recovering from 2 major surgeries on her feet. There really were no expectations on her here. I doubt the casual Gamecock fan knew she was a California prep legend. She played an important role here but it was clearly a secondary role.

PaoPao comes with success and expectations. This is a long answer, saying I don’t know, what do you think??

Not holding my breath on this one as Smith is a west coast girl but still nice to be in her top 4 … if true!

Have faith. I know for a fact this young girl came to Carolina on an unofficial visit for the LSU game this past year and her mom seemed very interested in her daughter choosing South Carolina. She may be a really viable birdie. Dawn has been out to see her many times and as recently as the week prior to the NCAA tourney.

On another positive note, she's a a wing. She could have a realistic chance to start as a sophomore. Also, I believe her brother plays at Colorado. The West is so huge, that's actually a long way from California. Of course, still in the PAC -12, though. But it does supports your suggestion that mama doesn't need to keep her pups close to home. Fingers crossed.

I guess I was thinking they didn't count because they didn't come from high school but I didn't about it in terms of previous success before coming here. If we can get players from Texas and California then our recruiting would be as limitless as other top programs.

There was a time when Geno did not recruit, he simply selected. Whoever he selected just said yes. Dawn’s reach has expanded to being national in scope and able to get a visit and a serious look from basically anyone. I don’t know that Dawn or any coach will have the power over recruiting that Geno had especially with the existence of the portal

A little sad, though, that a SC kid like Talaysia Cooper is the 18th ranked player in the country and transfers because she might not play significant minutes. That's the price of success, I guess. And I like winning.

I'm glad my kid plays another sport than basketball. She can at least dream about playing for Carolina one day. lol

Just finished watching one of the friendly games leading up to the U19 World Cup between USA and Spain on YouTube . USA won and Chloe had a decent game. Looked tentative at times but closed it out nicely and ended up with around 8 points including a 3! Joyce looked great and probably scored around 10 pts. She had atleast 2 steals. No box score to pull up so I am guessing.
I’ve been watching Chloe and Joyce post game and they do seem chummy :). Joyce seems to seek her out in group situations. I’m taking that as a hood sign!

I think we got Joyce Edward just looking at instagram Joyce and Chloe looks like they have a good friendship.
Kinda of funny AND full circle, fingers crossed. Chloe was committed to Louisville and convinced Fulwiley to visit Louisville with her. She spent the weekend in L’ville with Fulwiley came home, decommitted and became a Gamecock. She is now working hard to seal the deal with Edwards. It’s a good culture down at the CLA. Quality people as coaches, talented no drama young women who work hard as hell and like it each other.

As the old saying goes, “You can’t teach height.”
She moved here from the Dominican Republic and has only been playing basketball for two years. This was her first year playing AAU and she drew a lot of attention, mainly on height and potential as you can imagine.
Her game is not polished as you might guess. Her recruitment might not be complete if she really matures.

the articles says that she was on the Dominican Republic’s Americup team. However when I looked up their roster and stats she was not listed on the roster

Thanks!! Coach Abe at UGA is a good coach but their playing style just cannot be attractive to an up tempo point guard.

Amanda Butler is doing a pretty good job with TIllman Tech. They had 14 straight losing seasons before she arrived. In that time they were 37-175 in ACC games a .174%

She has raised them from being a laughingstock to just simply being a bad team struggling to get to .500 She has signed a top 💯 recruit every season but all of them have left except Soph. Ruby Whitehorn. Interestingly all of them have been 2 guards. She has had massive portal turnover every season. In spite of this she has fielded teams that play with great effort and for their talent level are pretty good on the defensive end.

She is still recruiting the hell out of Joyce Edwards. Pitching her to come and be THE ONE!
A'ja was as close to being THE ONE of any athlete I can remember. Even then we finished 29-5 and won the SEC the year before she arrived here. As great as Edwards potentially can be, I'm not sure she wants the challenge of turning a program around.

To reach her potential, she needs to be surrounded by other quality players imo. Everything is set up perfectly for her here. If we had landed Janiah Barker, the situation might be more complicated. Even though both can play multiple positions, they are natural fits at the 4. As the roster is constructed now, Edwards would start at the 4 as a sophomore, with Kitts, Raven, Fulwiley and Tessa Johnson on the perimeter. What a great opportunity for her and within 30 minutes of her hometown.

Hopefully she sees it the same way.

Kitts got pulled for Edwards less than 2 minutes into the games. Then Edwards picked up two fouls and didn't play anymore.

Kitts is playing the 4 and struggled to defend Mali's 4 in the low post (her offense looks fine). We've really been spoiled: best low post defensive team for 3 straight years, historically good the last 2. I think we'll see more of Kitts at the 3 for us. But this is a good learning experience for her.

I’m not watching but following along on play by play. Why did they pull Chloe at the 1:45 mark in the 1st qtr? seems quick to pull her

Nice 2nd half for Chloe! She finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Her efficiency rating was 2nd on the team. She was much more effective playing alongside Breya Cunningham, a true post presence at 6'' 4'. Cunningham was able to alter shots at the rim and grab defensive rebounds. The starting center, Van Slooten, is a bit too finesse to pair with Chloe imo. Hopefully Joni Taylor took note.

I thought Chloe did well, she got some questionable whistles but overall I thought she was pretty patient on defense and was a pretty good at passing the ball. She stood out to me on this team along with Cunningham and McMahon. I do feel like both Chloe and and Joyce could be better utilized on this team.

Also worth noting that Chloe and Joyce matchup to start the game was really tough. She really got the best of all the post players who defended her. She's very experienced and was playing meaningful minutes for Mali in the senior World Cup that involved WNBA players and other top talent in the world.

I thought Dawn was talking abot K sESSIONS

Not fair to compare Geno's and Pat's success with modern times imho. How many good teams were there in Pat's heyday ? Not as many as there are right now imo. BTW , when Geno finally beat her , she stopped the annual match up.
