Point being, why did Coach Staley stick her nose into a game that she was not coaching in? She had no business responding to games other than Carolina's. She needs to focus on Carolina women's basketball...Give IOWA a rest.
Did she comment on any players in a negative way??? No. Did she question a coach’s decision or behavior??? No. Did she point out an egregious foul call that had been already pointed out by the TV commentators and various other sportscasters around the country??? Why by golly she did. Is she the only person who commented on this bad call catching any crap??? Why yes she is.Point being, why did Coach Staley stick her nose into a game that she was not coaching in? I just love the combined stat lines of our bigsThe top two players with the best blocks per game are from USC.

Refuting untruths is not trolling.Oh, since this winlosetieorwhatnot keeps trolling me, let me inform you that I'm also on the UCONN board as well. Sometimes, I'm even on the UNC boards. Come to think of it, I'm on UT, UK boards as well...Ok so there you have it....you can now troll me there too.
I haven't been on an IOWA board in many months. You (winlosetieorwhatnot) trying to make me look bad is being noticed by others on the board. I'm getting personal messages from people who are saying this board is being highjacked by you and a couple of other posters.
Coach Staley needs to worry about our team ONLY!! Point Blank!!
Staley needs to realize young Catlin's Brand is already much bigger than hers!!!
Will doLove the breakdown some of the regulars post before each game. Please do one for Texas A&M.
Thank you !!!
Pretty rich for a poster who is constantly simping for a player on another team to accuse posters who actually discuss Gamecock wbb of hijacking a thread on a Gamecock board.Did she comment on any players in a negative way??? No. Did she question a coach’s decision or behavior??? No. Did she point out an egregious foul call that had been already pointed out by the TV commentators and various other sportscasters around the country??? Why by golly she did. AND WTF? Give Iowa a rest? You are the only one talking about Iowa on a SC board AND the only one talking about SC on an Iowa board.
Some people are ashamed to be white. It’s perfectly ok to pull for players simply because they look like you. Nothing wrong with white pride, unless it’s your source of ignorant comparisons. While I’d like to see more white superstar WBB players, I’m extremely proud of Dawn and our team. Matter of fact, I love our coach and what she’s accomplished. I dont think she’s racist, as much as I think she wants to see young black women excel—I got no problem with that!Winloseortieordraw or whatever here is your quote:
"Your comments about recruiting, race, Staley, playing time, and Kitts were not true and inflammatory at the very least. Others have used harsher words. You still have not backed down from those words. That is the lens that I and others view you and your words through on this thread at this point."
My question that never got answered by you or anyone else had to do with look at all the top talent in NCAA women's basketball who are white never seemed to make it to Carolina. It begged the question. WHY? So then took it a step further to find out how many white girls in all of Dawn's years of coaching have started for her? (please answer that one for me). As best I can tell...ZERO
I never said Kitt was not talented and could not star at Carolina. When Bueckers, Clark, Brink, Van Lith hit the scene 4 or so years ago, you started to see the tide turn in that more white girls were starting to star in women's college basketball. There were folks, not just me, who started wondering why are we not seeing girls who look like us on our team. I was worried Kitt might become the token white girl. It made me wonder why, Haley Frank decided to do a U-Turn and go with Mizzou. Why did Riley Stack decide on Coastal Carolina instead of us? The common denominator is these are white girls.
After comments made by Dawn, which she says frequently, "GIRLS WHO LOOK LIKE ME", or "LETS NOT RUN OVER THEM" (referring to the bad officiating done by black women at the NCAA tournament), she's seen as racist by a lot of people. (Even on this board). Some of the old posters on this board won't post on here anymore. I have conversations with them on the UCONN, IOWA and UT boards. This board has turned away from just being simply a place to talk about recruiting and game day fun to being a place where if people don't agree they are seen as racist, wrong, politically incorrect. This is a board for opinions and simple jabbing.
Some of the dozen or so folks who like to jab me about Catlin and my HUGE respect for need to understand why I am a HUGE fan. I started pulling for her when Bueckers was getting all the press but Catlin was single handedly carrying the load for IOWA. Bueckers was a show-off and Catlin was humble. Here are the main reasons I pull for (a girl who looks like me) to shine: 1) great family 2) chose to stay home and make her state proud 3) gives money back from her NIL deals to her community 4) speaks well when on camera (never makes herself look bad) 5) speaks well of other players and coaches, never degrading anyone unlike some of the LSU players 6) takes time out to sign autographs for the fans and even when playing at away venues she does the same 7) will be named the Dawn Staley award winner years in a row 8) created a brand at such a young age that will rival Jordan, Tiger Woods, the Williams Sisters' 9) sells out arenas where she and IOWA goes 10) gives away her sneakers to teammates, fans knowing those will be worth big bucks someday. This player comes from class and it's a refreshing change from hearing over and over about a player who comes from a single parent household who lives in a rat-infested home with very little of anything. It was nice at first to hear a heartwarming story till you hear it for the 100th time. I want to hear about people who are successful without hearing the background.
So I will unapologetically be me, I will continue to post my OPINIONS. I will continue to support excellence from players who excell on the basketball court and in life without the excuses.
Great points. I don't know why any white person would be ashamed to be white. I don't know why anyone would be ashamed to be who they are. Everyone will have their own opinion of whether Dawn is racist or not. I could care less. I think what she has accomplished is great!!! I agree she wants to see black girls excel. I want to see girls who look like me excel too, at my alma mater in basketball. We are a state university where you see folks from many different backgrounds. I just want our women's basketball team to reflect that as well. That is all. Some people are ashamed to be white. It’s perfectly ok to pull for players simply because they look like you. Still not impressed with Cardoso.
Thanks! Hit a lot of great pointsBack to Gamecocks wbb....A&M's defense legitimately belongs in the top tier of defenses we've played alongside Duke and North Carolina. They also rebound well, especially at home. They are going to be fired up, so they will make scoring difficult.
Their offense, however, has been inconsistent. They scored 15 points in the 2nd half of the game against Georgia. I know that's just one game, but against Carolina, most teams will score closer to their worst performances than their best. Taylor mentioned the need to get Cardoso away from the basketball. Lauren Ware is a good defensive big but no threat from any distance from the basket. So I suppose they intend to have her set screens on the perimeter, mostly for Endyia Rogers. It will be much easier to defend the pick-and-roll when the screener isn't a threat to step out and shoot the 3, like Frank from Mizzou.
In general, A&M has not shot well from 3. As I pointed out before the last 4 teams to beat us -- Iowa, Kentucky, Mizzou, Stanford -- could all shoot the 3 well. A&M just doesn't fit the mold of a team that beats us. Doesn't mean it won't be a competitive game though. Ole Miss took us to overtime last year. The Aggies scored 66 in their home win against Auburn. If they have a good day Saturday, they may score 66. Can they hold us to 65? North Carolina held us to 65; no one else has held us under 73.
Watch the rebounding. A&M has to win that battle to win the war, imo.
My issue with some of your comments are these few realities. I work on the field during football games for the past 20 years and with that get to see every players who makes an official or unofficial visit to our school. I will have you know that Paige Beuckers visited us on an unofficial visit her junior year along with Azzi Fudd. So did Samantha Brunelle. We also had Ashley Barker to visit form Alabama. Also Blanco who recently committed to UNC from next years class visited and was recruited heavily by Dawn. All of these top players are white, so Dawn has definitely tried to recruit the best players whether they were white or black. It just so happens that these players have chosen to play elsewhere by their choice. Also I will have you know that many of these players to include Clark were on USA junior national teams coached by Dawn and for which she had influence in their selections.Great points. I don't know why any white person would be ashamed to be white. I don't know why anyone would be ashamed to be who they are. Everyone will have their own opinion of whether Dawn is racist or not. I love Cardoso. I hope she stays another year!!!
We're on a WBB site. but thanks for your response. I've said all I'm going to say in my thesis earlier.Where is the great concern there for the reflection of all. Just saying. Make the same impassioned plea for the baseball team, or gthe swimming team or our golf teams. All of these teams could have your same passion, just in another direction.
Well you started this whole supposition, so I decided to provide some real context to "Your" topic. I will have an enjoyable night as I always have and look forward to seeing Dawn and her outstanding team tomorrow. We're on a WBB site. but thanks for your response. I've said all I'm going to say in my thesis earlier.
I created this site to be fun, talk about recruiting and some ribbing on gameday. That's it. Now go and have some fun and enjoy the rest of your night...
I definitely think most teams will place her at the 4 just due to her size. Especially UConn who's often lacking size inside and I definitely don't see LSU doing it based on Mulkey's history. On another topic … someone on the boneyard stated they heard Sarah Strong is wanting to play the 3 in college. If that is the case I would think we would have a better shot with her. Hope Dawn can get her on campus!
perhaps she’ll pay a visit to the CLA for the UConn game …On another topic … someone on the boneyard stated they heard Sarah Strong is wanting to play the 3 in college. If that is the case I would think we would have a better shot with her. Hope Dawn can get her on campus!
IF, IF, IF that is true…… it could drastically change our chances. We need a 3. Watkins could play the 3 defensively but not offensively. Strong clearly could play it in the offensive end. Can Strong play defense on the perimeter?? especially against smaller and quicker players??On another topic … someone on the boneyard stated they heard Sarah Strong is wanting to play the 3 in college. If that is the case I would think we would have a better shot with her. Hope Dawn can get her on campus!

You're a little to obsessed with race for some reason. It doesn't matter, and your ego won't let it go.Winloseortieordraw or whatever here is your quote:
