The Picks

UGA @ Ole Miss✔️
OM is smelling the #3 seed. They are the better team but I think not having a true PG is going to make this a difficult win. This could be a 50-45 game.

UK @ Miss St✔️
Last time they played Uk had a 5 point lead with 50 seconds to play and pissed it away to lose in overtime. These are two teams that just can’t get out of their own way at times. Team making fewest mistakes wins.

Auburn @ LSU✔️
Rematch time at the PMAC. Barbies will be geeked and I don’t think Auburn can hold up. If it gets out of hand Mulkey will run it up as much they can.

Mizzou @ UF
Two not good teams playing at the tail end of the season. Who is engaged? Who is mailing it in? I don’t know? Coin toss says…

A&M @ Arkansas ✔️
No Rogers for A&M. Unless Ark has a really bad offensive night… they win.

Bama @ the CLA✔️✔️
Bama has won 5 of their last 6. Getting better and Barker is a gem. Nye can shot the three. They just can’t hold up against the size

So no pick for the Mizzou/Florida game? You should take a stab because I think you may have a chance at a perfect record this week (if you're going to pick an Arkansas game, you might as well pick the rest).

btw, Mizzou's AD leaving for Arizona may have bought Robin Pingeton another year. Would be a bold move for a new AD to fire a coach of 15 years.

Coin finally landed….. UF.

Waiting a year to Fire Pingeton🤷‍♂️The only reason not to fire her is to give an AD a year to look. She has a losing record over the last 5 years. Pull the cord

I remember Oregon's assistant coach getting on twitter over the summer and complaining about some unidentified team tampering with their players. Ha! Say hello to Jordan Burch for us.
Considering he has lost tons of players to tons of different programs, I would say there is really no tampering, just not a coach anyone wants to play for. I looked back and they had one of the top classes in the country a few years ago and none of those players are still with the team. We have Paopao, Kentucky has Scherr, and there were two others I cant remember but arent there anymore either. So tampering is just an excuse for being someone no one wants to play for.

Sydney Parrish went to Indiana, Kylee Watson to Notre Dame and Angela Dugalic to UCLA. That was probably one of the best all time recruiting classes and none of them stayed.

Though not the same class, Endiya Rogers also left. Can they hold on to Grace Vanslooten after this season?

I think it all could blow up next season. I heard from a pretty credible source that's well versed on PAC-12 news that Graves has been considering "stepping down" but that's more of the University giving him a more respectful way out.

It's been heavily speculated that the former assistant coach that just took over for TCU would be the favorite to take his place at Oregon. It seems like the players seems to gravitate towards him over Graves. In the interview Pao Pao mentioned before Dawn called she was going to follow him to TCU like Sedona Prince has. Unfortunately for Oregon, he apparently really likes Texas and doesn't plan on coming back anytime soon.

So unless Oregon gets a home run hire, I think that program is at the risk of falling off and I don't think the conference change will help them either.

Just a few numbers

22 game win streak vs Bama. January 10, 2008 Susan Walvius was the coach. Dawn has never lost to Bama since arriving here.

With a win tonight we clinch our 8th regular season title in 11 years. The other 3 years we finished 2nd. Only once have we not won either the regular season or the tournament. That year was our worst conference record in that span 12-4. We had no true post player we DID HAVE T’ea Cooper🤬
In those 11 years we are 157-15 with losses to only UT, UK, Miss St, A&M, and Mizzou.

ONLY 11 more regular season titles to win and we pass Pat.

Both teams shot poorly for the 1st Period, as South Carolina leads 11-6 over Alabama.

Then to open the 2nd Period, the Gamecocks scored 19 unanswered points to go up 30-6 before Alabama scored again. The Tide assisted in that feat by shooting 0-13 in the 2nd Qtr. until they finally scored on a layup from Loyal McQueen with 1:49 to play before the half.

The Gamecocks lead 33-11 at the half....

I thought about posting before the game that her absence might actually help our defense. Don't know if that's true, but it's hard to believe our defense could have played any better.
Timmons and McQueen were 11-29 for 38%. Not good but not the nightmare the rest of the team shot 4-39 10.3%

Can somebody please explain Arkansas to me!
They pretty much lose when they should win. Win when they should lose.

And way to go Miss St.!! Playing for a top 4 seed and you let UK Beat you 24-5 in the fourth quarter.

Btw @winloseortie, looking at Sunday's schedule, you've got your work cut out for you. Besides our game, every game looks like a toss up to me. 🤷‍♂️
Really interested in Tenn vs LSU which I'm sure we all are. I didn't watch their game against Auburn last night but we obviously need to take a few pointers from Auburn if/when we play LSU again. They clearly have their number even though they ended up losing. Supposedly their press defense gave LSU fits.

I said before our game with Auburn that I thought the Tigers had the best defensive guards in the country. They forced LSU into 22 turnovers last night. Auburn was mostly the better team in every category except rebounding. Rebounding makes up for a lot of deficiencies.

Not sure how LSU's performance against Auburn will translate to the Tennessee game; the Vols' guards are not very good defensively. They can score, though.

Tennessee is expecting its largest crowd in a long time. So there's that. I've noticed the attendance for LSU's road games is higher than when we played in the same venue. LSU just brings out the hate in opponents, I guess. Opposing fans may also feel like they have a better chance of winning against them than they do against us.

Thoughts on the Bama game:

* After last night's game, our defensive rating is now better than last season's. We are also holding opponents to a lower field goal % than last season (31%). Our first-half defensive performance has to rank with one of the best half performances of Dawn Staley's tenure, which is saying a lot.

* Both Massey and Her Hoop Stats predicted we would beat Bama by 23 WITH Cardoso. We beat them by 28 WITHOUT her.

* Not only did Cardoso have the night off, but Raven had a half-night off. She only played 18 minutes. Against Georgia, she played 37, so coach obviously wanted to give her some rest.

* I watch a lot of SEC games -- if there is a better defensive player than Ashlyn Watkins, I don't know who she is. She started at the 5, but Chloe guarded the big freshman, which meant Watkins was matched up against a guard. And she was more than capable of switching onto any of Bama's perimeter players. If Cardoso had played, Chloe would have been forced to defend a guard. I think that is the reason Dawn chose this game to rest Cardoso rather than against Tennessee or Georgia, when Cardoso's interior defense was needed. But even in those games, Cardoso was on a minutes restriction. I anticipate she'll be back as normal against Kentucky.

* Bree had a nice bounce-back game after a couple of poor performances. I thought she was the Player of the Game. She shot well on offense and her defense was outstanding. Thanks to Watkins defensive versatility, Bree was able to matchup against Barker and she completely shut her down. Was Barker benched? She didn't play much in the 2nd half.

* Bama started the game in a matchup zone. After our offensive performance against Georgia, that was probably expected. I suppose it worked in the 1st quarter. However, in the 2nd quarter, during the 17-0 run, we got some open looks from 3 and hit them. Once Bama was behind by 20 points, Curry was forced to go to man. It's difficult to get back into the game with a passive defense. Against us, a team really needs its defense to generate some points off turnovers.

* Sakima Walker played 18 minutes, the most of her career. A mixed result. Her defense was very good. She also ran the court well; the announcers even complimented Walker on her rim running. She didn't score, though, which is not that big of a deal. More concerning is only 3 rebounds. If she wants to be a significant factor for next season, she needs to be more assertive on the boards.

The way he has been picking this year, every game “has been a toss up “. 😂😂😂 The breakdowns have been excellent but I would go broke betting 😂😂😂

All wins are good wins, but I hope this team can get well rested after the SEC Tournament. Other than LSU and USC, the rest of the SEC is weak this year on the women's side and USC's shooting numbers the last few weeks have gone down significantly. When you look at the game by game the last 6 games or so, it's an overall steady decline. Hope this team didn't peak to early because once you get past rounds 1 and 2 of NCAAs, which I expect USC to win, then you can match up with teams that can beat you (especially if you get some PAC12 teams!).

As for the SEC Tournament, hope they can win it, simply because I don't want LSU to win it.

I’m not writing for the bettor just the winner. I try to give an accurate vision of how the game may turn from both sides. I have been pretty damn accurate on picking straight up winners. With the exception of Arkansas, I am freaking 2-11 on their games!!
On a side note, I think you would go broke betting faster without my insights.🤔🤗

The SEC is down, but it’s an odd down year. We will get 9 teams in the tournament and another probably just outside.

That said other than us and the Barbies, none will make the second weekend. Maybe OLE Miss and UT make the second game, but it’s going to be a sad first weekend for SEC teams.

As to the shooting decline, it also worries me somewhat. The tough part about conference play is that everyone knows your offensive sets. In fact they have years of tape on you.
