I'll continue to opine as I please. You, likewise, can do as you wish. If you feel the need to redress "my character" instead of my literal posts (the definition of ad hominem) please regard me as Sir, A$$hole from now on. I'm happy to settle for common ground.
Your 2 literal post in just under a year, taunting the thread after the Iowa loss and denigrating the play of the team today. In a long standing thread celebrating USC WBB I think that you have come here and very clearly revealed your character by your words.

Opine as much as you wish, but when you act like an a$$, you shouldn’t act hurt and surprised when others call out your behavior.

So should I offer my opinion, or should I leave this board if my thoughts (potentially) run afoul of the thought police? Im confused by your directives since they seem to conflict. Need to know in advance of tomorrow's big game.

I think it's called tempting fate. Statistically, if you have a 90% chance of beating a team and you play them 10 times, they are probably going to beat you once. If you keep playing a good team like Tennessee over and over, it'll probably take a lot less than 10 games before they grab one. I hope we don't have to play them a 4th time this year.
Hell, the NBA proves this theory in just 7 games

What are you confused about? Opine all you want. That said, Do you expect people to cheer you when you troll and taunt them? Or just bend over and take it?
There is no thought police here. There is all kinds of criticism and differing opinions on the play of this team on this thread. Your 2 comments in a less than a year had nothing to do with criticizing the team. You trolled and denigrated. Act like an a$$ get treated like an a$$. Engage this thread about the game itself, the strategy, the players and you have a lot of knowledgeable people more than willing to be conversation partners.

I know some might have wanted to blow UT out, but watching them lose in this fashion nevers seems to get old. Jubilation thinking it was in the bag to true disbelief 😂
I don’t know if you watched UT post game or not. They opened it up and nobody asked a question for about 15-20 seconds. After the student athletes left, Harper was just heart broke. No excuses, she walked them through the last play, took responsibility and was in tears for her kids. God what a tough loss.

I get it, I do. I did watch it and it was a tough loss. I respect that team and playing Rickea Jackson always terrifies me. But… I can’t stand orange or Rocky Top. 😂

The concerning part about today's game is that I'm afraid some fans, members of the media and even Dawn herself believe we lost to Iowa because of the lack of outside shooting. That wasn't the main reason. The biggest reason was a lack of urgency. We fall behind ten points to start the game; the bench claws our way back into and then the starting lineup once again falls behind by double digits to start the 3rd. The bench valiantly fought back in the 2nd half, but we dug ourselves too big of a hole. Dawn didn't play the players who were playing the best enough.

Today, I thought the team came out with an unbelievable sense of urgency. They were absolutely locked in on defense. With a minute left in the 1st half, we were up 20. Inexplicably, Dawn puts Sakima Walker in the game. It's difficult to imagine Walker could have played any worse. She turned the ball over twice in her first 40 seconds in the game. On defense, she completely misplayed a screen and allowed Jewel Spear an open look from 3, which she hit. The lead went from 20 to 13 in a minute.

I don't get it. Why was she in the game? Yes, Cardoso picked up her 2nd foul. However, Feagin was already in the game and Kitts was on the bench with 1 foul. Chloe was perhaps our best player today. We finished +12 with her on the court in only 17 minutes. We have NINE players who helped build a lead and then Dawn has to play that 10th player who did nothing to build the lead. Why take your foot off the gas? This is the semi-finals of the SEC tournament against Tennessee. The players came out playing with great intensity and I feel like Dawn sent the wrong message by playing the end of her bench, like we were playing Mississippi Valley State in November.

All that being said, Dawn is 66-1 over the last two seasons, so what do I know? She believes her team is going to win the 4th quarter and win the game, and they did. She is cool, calm and collected, no doubt about it. But, maybe, just a little more urgency will make this team perform even better. The NCAA tournament doesn't start for over a week. No need to rest anyone tomorrow. Play the players playing the best.

Thank you. We have an understanding that people are allowed varying opinions. I'll continue to offer mine as (in)frequently and incisively as I wish, without deference to people like yourself Feel free to engage or ignore to your liking.

Excellent analysis. The momentum clearly changed in that 1 minute. We could have easily run 3 guards at that point if she didn't want to risk Chloe picking up a 3rd foul. I hope that is a lesson learned that will serve us well in the future....

Thanks for posting that. A brilliant bit of coaching there by Dawn! Apparently she realized that Kamila was the only one that had a remote chance of getting a shot off. Not sure she wanted her to take the three as she motioned her to the free throw line but all is well that ends well! What a momentous turn of events. Great day to be a Gamecock!!!

I know it was gut wrenching for UT, but can we talk X’s and O’s on that last play?

I get Harper not calling a TO, you don’t want to give DS a freebie. She is also on the far end of the court in a loud arena, difficult to communicate. But that was your plan?

Fulwiley and Paopao were guarded. Watkins was loosely doubled down low. The player guarding Raven neither harassed the inbounds nor guarded ANYONE. I imagine she was protecting against an inbounds and quick pass back to Raven for the shot. But come on, there wasn’t enough time for that.

The FUN DAMN MENTAL principle in any last second shot is “force the shooter to move away from the basket to catch the ball”. That is so their momentum forces an off balance shot.

They just decided to leave a D1 scholarship player wide open for the last shot. I understand Cardoso is not a 3 pt shooter but it was totally uncontested. No pressure from D, just an open pregame warmup shot.

The lesson from this game is it's not over until it's over. From having a 23 point lead over a pretty good team to having 1.1 seconds to win, there were a lot of swings in our mental and emotional states of minds. It is clear that teams in the post season will not be intimidated by our undefeated record but will be motivated by it. I don't think we will see blowout wins for the rest of the year. We are going to see some tough and tight basketball games in the tournament.

Charlie Creme's latest bracketology has Stanford, LSU and UCONN in the same regional. Like I stated earlier, the same 4 coaches win the tournament every year and he has 3 of them in the same regional. They will knock each other off. Of course, 1 of them is almost certain to make to the Final Four.

He has a couple of Big Ten teams in our regional-- Ohio St and Indiana. I believe the Big Ten isn't that strong this year, so I'd take it.

Did MF double dribble?

with some of the intentional flops (cough cough ADR) carrying the ball (cough cough Juju) & traveling (cough cough Caitlin) I've seen not called in games this season, thru my admittedly garnet colored lenses, this one seems pretty tame as a missed/ no call

Fulwiley needs to play more. Yes, Dawn thinks Freshman need to sit and learn, but she is the most talented offensive player we have. She can create when the defense shuts down the set you tried to run. That will happen more as the competition stiffens.
13 minutes is definitely not enough. Hopefully we see more of her today. She gets to the free throw line like no one else on our team. That's crucial because LSU is short on guards.

I don't know about that. I think there's a two way street of missed calls. I would argue Raven got called for a phantom foul on a 3 point shot and Cardoso had at least 2 or 3 phantom calls on her as well.

Oh, totally agree. Don't get me wrong, I think it’s borderline click bait (& I normally like this person‘s YT commentary/vids). As I mentioned, I think it‘s overblown as a ‘missed’ called.

I need to go back and watch again but I didn’t think MiLAYsia or Breezy played enough in crunch time. We needed their D. I could be wrong though I just don’t remember them being out there.

Does it really take over 8 minutes to show that somebody double-dribbled? I clicked on the video, but after about 2 minutes, it still hadn't shown the call in question, so I stopped watching.

Breezy guarded Rickea all day and it didn't going well. To be fair, very few players in the country would have much success defending her man-to-man. I believe Dawn felt Tessa was doing a better job. It's VERY rare for coach to opt for a younger player over a veteran in crunch time, so that should tell us something.

As far as Fulwiley, Raven is the best perimeter defender and she was on Spear. We wanted Powell to shoot, so defense wasn't a priority when it came to who was to guard her. Paopao struggled on the offensive end yesterday; Fulwiley was having a better day. I don't think coach quite trusts Milaysia enough, though, to close a big game yet. (Raven and Paopao are both all-conference guards, so it would take a lot for Dawn to sit them in crunch time)

Oh, you know a right good bit. You learn a lot by watching. The longer you watch, the more you learn. Hopefully SHE learned something yesterday about compromising momentum and which player you most risk doing that with.
