The concensus from the bracketlogists is LSU is a 2 seed in a regional with either UCONN or Notre Dame as the 3. Who do you think is the tougher matchup for LSU?

I lean Notre Dame because LSU has no one who can guard Hidalgo. Aaliyah Edwards is better than any of ND's bigs, but she probably wouldn't be able to stay on the floor very long against the Tigers due to foul trouble.

If you are an SEC team what does it take to beat The Gamecocks in the CLA? A Special night? Injuries? Refs? A very talented team? Pretty much.

Over the last 11 years we are 84-4 vs SEC in the CLA.

Very talented team 3/3/2019
#4 Mississippi St comes in 25-2 and clearly the superior team. Gamecocks play a perfect game for 38 minutes but can’t close the deal 64-68.

Special Night 2/21/19
We lose to UK 65-57. In Reality we lost to Rhyne Howard

Injuries 1/14/18
The only blowout loss of the four, UT wins 86-70. A’ja does not play due to severe migraines. Later in the season with a healthy A’ja, Gamecocks win 73-62

Refs 1/30/17
We lose 76-74 to UT. Game is nip and tuck for 40 minutes. We tie the game in the last 20 seconds. With 1 second on the clock phantom call on Cuevas sends UT to the line where they sink both

Don’t know about y’all, but I can’t wait until the brackets come out. The suspense is killing me 😂. Always have to wait a week for the men’s side to finish just to release the brackets. I mean, is it necessary if we’re being honest.
I hate it too but it's not really the men's fault. Its conferences like the Big 12 and all these smaller conferences that played their conference tournament this week. Between today and tomorrow there's still 13 more conference finals to be played.

I wasn’t blaming the men, just showing my impatience 😂

I see 3 teams with no depth and talented players. It will likely boil down to who could stay out of foul trouble. I probably give LSU the advantage due to its superior rebounding. But honestly it could come down to which key player gets in foul trouble on any of these teams to determine who wins.

But what do the men's tournaments have to do with announcing the ladies' brackets? I understand that you may not be able to _play_ the women's tournament until all of the venues are available, but why wait so long to announce the matchups?

The women's field isn't complete yet. There are still 5 tournament champions yet to be determined, including 4 tomorrow.

Edit to add: a lot more than 5 left. I was just looking at top 25 teams.

Equity - somebody would be offended if one went before the other. I'm surprised we don't alternate selections between men and women.

I read several comments elsewhere that she could transfer now that she has a national deal, especially since she doesn't start. It doesn't work that way, though. I'm pretty sure her deal is contingent on staying at USC or, at the very least, an Under Armour school. Azzi Fudd has a deal with UA, but not quite the same (not as lucrative, I assume) since she can't wear the shoe.
Doesn’t work that way DC. But rest assured MF will be a starter next year, even if we have to play a 3 guard lineup, there is no way she is not starting next year. She is the best player on the team already albeit still inconsistent, but she has to play through that next year. She has the potential to be conference player of the year next season and challenge for AA honors with a starting role. Most of her numbers per minites played are above the other freshman in her class. She was SEC tourney MVP and averaged about 17 minutes a game.

She will not start next season. She and Tessa will play more minutes but PaoPao, Raven and Brewzy are the started at 1-3. I don’t know who will back up Breezy at the 3 though, unless that is Edward’s role. We will have another legitimate 2+ deep roster of players who can start and contribute

I think Tessa is Breezy's backup. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember Bree and Tessa on the court at the same time very much at all.

Unless McDaniel's injury is severe enough to keep her out all season, I don't see us adding a guard through the portal. Even if we did, she would have to be a player satisfied with not playing much. We'll have an amazing 5 guard rotation, legitimately all could start at most schools. 5, though, is one injury away from a 4 guard rotation, which is kind of thin.

I'm little surprised Chloe never played the 3 all season. Not once. I guess she's not a possibility. And let's not forget Jah. I believe she is a 3 as well. Status pending.

We don’t know if Jah will return. That is why I have not included her.

North Carolina went 4 and 7 down the stretch. They did beat Duke and NC State at home, but struggled on the road, losing to Virginia and BC.

I've said all season my biggest concern was rebounding. From that perspective, we have a favorable regional. Nebraska and Ole Miss are the 2 best teams in our regional in rebounding rate at 12th and 13th in the country.

Ole Miss could be a surprise. Not an easy matchup for the Irish in the 2nd round.

ND will be without Kylee Watson as well. She recently announced her injury was an ACL. That's a huge loss for a team without much depth or forwards that can play in the post. Every game outside the first round is probably a struggle for them.

Looking briefly at the UNC-MSU game.

More analysts seem to be picking MSU. Very good shooting with all players being a perimeter threat. No real post presence and their tallest player is 6’2” with only one other player who plays over 6’0”. Maybe go 7 deep. Share the ball well and don’t really turn it over that much. Not a great defensive team BUT they do cause a lot of turnovers

UNCarolina has gone big since we played them. They gave up trying to find a PG and are letting Kelly run the point. Not much 3 point shooting. Definitely a stark contrast to Michigan State. Should make for an interesting game.

Had a feeling this was coming. Noticed yesterday she took down her bio pic on insta

I have the vision of you checking a couple dozen players' instagram profiles each morning with your coffee. Thank you. 😁

In the portal Era, it's good to be elite. Dawn can poach a quality player from the portal to replace Jah next season, if she chooses.

From what I told y’all I thought this was a forgone conclusion. Jah saves face of not being booted from the team and Dawn doesn’t have to be the heavy.
If Cardoso leaves and Walker stays that is a roster of 12. We will be looking in the portal. Luxury shopping with a perfect fit, nothing like what Harper will be doing

I was looking at Sakima Walker's stats yesterday. Her turnover rate is 28%, which is worse than Enya Russell's, Amihere's or Lele's. All players who were thought of as turnover-proned. With Amihere and Lele, at least we got some stellar defense and rebounding. I'm not sure Walker has shown enough that I'm confident she can be a regular rotation player on a national championship contender. But do we need an additional rotation big besides Edwards (and possibly Tac)? Watkins and Feagin have paid their dues and deserve a lot of playing time next season.

She will be more acclimated and have another year of Body By Binetti.

I saw her on a live the other day with Tessa and Chloe and someone asked her if she was staying or transferring, and she just did a shrug like maybe/maybe not. It will be interesting to see what she does. Honestly I feel like if she wants a decent amount of playing time she should, but she may be happy just being a role player.

For all her faults I kind of like Walker. I think she's a step too slow right now but I also don't believe she has been put in a good position to succeed either. I think she tries to force passes, that makes sense but execution needs work. I also think our guards often pass her the ball in bad situations that lends itself to turnovers. .

Her big thing is confidence in my opinion. When she makes her first basket she usually plays much better. Her game needs fine tuning for this roster. I agree with PFunk an off-season with Molly could do her wonders. But at the same time I could see her moving on but I definitely think she could be of use with the right gameplan.

It would foolish for her to commit to coming back on the off chance that Cardoso comes back as well. She would fall even further down the depth chart with the addition of Edwards. If Cardoso leaves as expected, I don't know...we'll see.
