I almost (but not really, especially after the racism card she just tried to play) feel bad for Van Lith. Gets ousted from the NCAA tournament by us one year, then Iowa last year. So she transfers to the defending champs to form the “super team” just to get cooked by the exact same teams every time again this year lol. That’s of course assuming Iowa doesn’t melt down right here with less than 5 to go.
People can hate on HVL, but Reese must help on this screen.

Barbie is a characterization that was applied to Mulkey when she donned that pink outfit awhile bad. I've never directed Barbie toward Reese myself.

I agree. Van Lith never had a chance, and it’s not likes it the first time with her and Clark. I agreed with Lobo and crew put Johnson on her and maybe not with 2 minutes left in the game.
To be fair Reese was hobbling with an ankle injury. She was struggling to do much more than go up and down the court.
In the last five years only nine teams have beaten us. If we win the next two we will have beaten SEVEN possibly Eight of those teams this season. AND we were scheduled to play Stanford but they bailed on us.

If we make it to Sunday and face them, we have to feed it to Cardosa. Reese was having her way with them until she hurt her ankle. You could tell she was having trouble getting up and down the court and she was trying to shoot flat footed.
I almost think Del Rosario transfers. She barely played this year and last night almost never went in. She looked so unhappy on bench beside Reese and it was not due to losing. If Reese leaves as does ban Lith and that transfer happens then Mulkey has to hit portal hard again with really no recruits coming in
Del Rosario is not being developed at LSU, she is still raw and will continue to be at LSU. She is being misused as a bully by fouling the other team to try and bang them up, saving the fouls to be expended on the starters. I actually feel bad for her, agree that a transfer is best for her and her development.
Meh. Cardoso doesn’t have Reese’s touch. Pounding it to Cardoso isn’t going to win vs Iowa…3-pt shooting and a high FG% will. Need our players to SHOW UP. Literally that simple.
Reese doesn't have much touch. That's actually a huge complaint many have about her game. If you want high FG% then Cardoso is absolutely the answer.
It's important to not overlook NC State they are playing some of their best ball right now. They have some lengthy and athletic guards that can do some damage if we don't handle business. All the drama and media attention will likely be on the other side of the final four so hopefully we can use that in our favor
LSU’s roster for next year is fascinating speculation. Poa, HVL and Reese’s deadline to declare for WNBA is Saturday.
I can see HVL staying in college although not necessarily at LSU. She has been humbled by the position change. Preseason her attitude was that she was already a great PG and that LSU was simply a place to showcase it. EVERYONE has pointed out her deficiencies and under the spotlight. She needs another year in college but where?
Reese is emotionally exhausted and if she comes back to LSU next year, the circus will only be worse and darker. I think her bravado and bullying mask an overwhelmed somewhat insecure and emotionally fragile young woman. Welcome to being talented and 22 and having a lot on your shoulders.The mentoring Mulkey appears to give only seems to inflame her narcissism.
Her Defense and rebounding assure that she will make a WNBA roster. She will however need to go to the right place AND do a 2 year apprenticeship to be a star.
The conundrum is that what is best for her development as a player and person is not necessarily what is best for Financial bottom line. Hard waters to navigate.
Poa stays, she seems to have found a home and know her role.
Del Rosario and Velez(who is that you say?) came to LSU as a package deal. Velez was ranked #35 and a PG. Neither has come close to expectations. Over rated? Ignored and under developed? Who knows? Velez to me has no future at LSU. If HVL and Poa come back PG is out. And if they don’t come back…Kim is in the portal looking. She doesn’t have the skill set or size to play the 2. And yes there is Johnson and Williams at that position.
Wolfenbarger is coming in from Ark. Does she blossom and find a position? Or is she just another misfit on the island of broken toys?

I'm just impressed that Reese actually was past half court and in the lane with 23 seconds on the shot clock. That's a hustle play in her book.

IMO, Mulkey will struggle to recruit from HS because of all this drama, and anti-gay perception swirling around her. This was a bad tourney for Mulkey's reputation as a human. LSU will be an escape for portal players trying to revive careers or looking for change. I mean, Mulkey is still a decent coach.
Anybody worried that the NC State game will be a highlight reel for a former player (Rivers)? The Gamecocks like to give former players record performances (Couisnard).
