Gamecocks extend their lead to 9 68-59 through 3 periods of play. Freshman Tessa Johnson leading the Gamecocks with 15 pts on 6-9 shooting, 3-5 from beyond the arc...
Minus Raven's shooting effort, the Gamecocks are shooting .542 for the game. Raven has put so much energy into her defensive efforts, her offensive efforts have suffered. Bree's too, also she's 2-4, she's still only taken just 4 shot attempts....
Gamecocks win their 3rd National Championship and first ever undefeated season with the 87-75 win over Iowa. Freshman Tessa Johnson led the way with a career high 19 pts on 7-11 shooting, 3-5 from the 3-pt. line. Kamilla Cardoso added 15 pts on 7-14 shooting, with 17 rebounds: Cardoso had 29 pts, 31 rebounds, and 6 blocks in the two NCAAT games versus Iowa over these last two seasons. Te-Hina Paopao scored 14 pts on 4-7 shooting, 3-4 from the 3-pt. line. Chloe Kitts added a double-double with 11 pts on 5-8 shooting, and 10 rebounds....

I know Raven couldn’t buy a basket, but Raven for MVP man. Her defense on Clark was outstanding. Took away that Right to Left Stepback after the 1st Quarter.
Not too bad for an uncoached team. Eat crap Jason Whitlock. This was the sweetest of the three.

Very happy for the players, coaches, support people, and fans who have poured themselves into this program. There was never a better coaching job coming off of a more disparaging disappointment the year prior and starting basically from scratch. It's probably unprecedented.
Raven had a tough game shooting the ball - going 1-11 for the game. The rest of the Gamecocks however shot 34-62 (.548) for the game, so minus Raven the girls were red-hot....
Many shots of Darius Rucker in the stands during the game. Sure wish they could have had him at mid court singing ‘Let HerCry’ while they showed Clark going to the locker room.
Tessa Johnson balling today. Holy cow. And then in the post game interview, she’s just adorable! She doesn’t sound like the stone cold killer she is

In the first period, Caitlin Clark was 5-8 from the field, 3-4 from the arc, and 5-6 from the line for 18 pts. After that, she was 5-20 from the field, 2-9 from the arc, and perhaps more importantly 0-0 from the line, to score 12 points. I'd say the defensive effort on her was ultimately a great success.....
I've said along the best thing that happened to this year's team was last year's team losing. They could have felt sorry for themselves, but they didn't. Instead, they put together the greatest season ever by a Carolina athletic team.

Wow what a game. I'm glad we won but I'm also glad Caitlin got her just due with coach saying, she is the reason women's basketball is as enormous as it is today. As far as next year goes, we are already going to be ranked #1 in the pre-season.
For next year, I hope there is more class brought back to the game that what has been shown. With Angel Reese leaving for the WNBA I hope we get away from that taunting garbage. Here's hoping all those little girls that want to be like Caitlin will bring that class with them.
