No complaints about Zia's performance today from me. Her missed shots are just opportunities for offensive rebounds. We had 25 offensive boards today. UCONN had 30 rebounds total.

Zia played excellent defense on Lopez-Senechal, who has the ability to go off and change a game. Zia's a warrior. We're going to miss her mental and physical toughness next year.

What was the technical foul on Cardoso for? I didn’t see anything. Did she say something? I never heard the announcers give a reason. I think it was to make up for Geno’s.
She slammed the ball on the floor after she got called for the foul. It's a pretty common thing.

Seneschal still had a strong game. 19 points. Muhl was clearly pestered by Johnson though. I don't think Fletcher would have done nearly as well.

She lightly slammed the ball out of frustration. I dont think they would have given her the technical had they not given Geno one.
Maybe, but it's like one of those unwritten rule things just don't do without getting a technical. I have seen hundreds of times.

The better players played when we needed them to. It doesn't really matter who starts. Today imo opinion we left Cookie in there too long while Hall hardly played. But I get why she doesn't take Zia out who's looking at this game as a big opportunity. Experience plays a factor as much as talent does.
That's one way to look at it. The way I look at it is that the only quarter we lost in the game was the first quarter and we lost it pretty badly.

Geno was being such an *** repeating over and over F-in BS that he had the refs amped up not doubt. How was he not thrown out. The refs in general missed a massive amount of calls on both. on our in-bounds call it was a handoff with both our players holding it. Should have been side out UConn. but how many invisable fouls did they call on layups. WE should have just clobbered em and kept it to two points if free throws were made.

apparently winning on the road by 4 (after being down by 11 at the end of 1) against the all time best program in Women’s hoops & current top 5 team playing in their championship throwback jerseys in front of a ’white out’ crowd of 15k plus has ’exposed’ SC according to many of our rivals on the internets . UConn fans seem extremely giddy in their moral victory as they only lost by 4 without two stars playing & boy, it will be different next time we play.

That’s where SC Women’s basketball is at folks. Soak it up & Enjoy .

This is an aside, but ESPN.com p!$$e$ me off. Judging by the number of UConn's highlights they put up on the website, versus our highlights, you'd think UConn won by 40. P!$$e$ me off.
I was thinking the same damn thing. I know they worship UConn (just read their "who should be what seed" comments each week). Blatantly obvious and shameless.

Lowly ole A&M had their moments against LSU but did just not have enough firepower to pull it off. Lost by less than 10 points.

Yeah they played them really close to the end. LSU looking less like a top team with every game.

OMG Did Auburn just pull a humongous choke job against Ark. They are down 1 and get fouled intentionally…. 2 shots and the ball!! They miss both and then get a 5 second call on the inbounds and they still had a TO!!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️WHY? WHY? WHY?

ESPN bracketology dragged LSU for their OT win against Georgia. Same should apply to this win. The committee should not reward a team for their record only. What's the point of having a committee?

Only 6 turnovers today. That's a big improvement over 2 years ago when we had 21.

Raven had 7 assists and 0 turnovers in 36 minutes. She has a quiet confidence about her that I find impressive. This team can keep improving as she gets more minutes.

Roles changed today. I still expect Fletcher to start, that just seems to be the Staley way, but there is no doubt about who will finish close games.

Fletcher has done exactly what DS wanted, be a tough defender, reliable distributor, and score when the opportunity presents. She was brought in to be an insurance policy, mentor and place holder. In some ways the epitome of team over individual

I was unable to watch today due to prior commitments. Great road win and I see UConn claiming moral victory - my how NCAAW basketball has changed. Score tells me our defense was not up to par, particularly in the 1st and 4th quarters. Did UConn play that well offensively or was our defense not up to our usual standards?

The score was 12-6 when Brea picked up her 2nd foul and had to sit. The Huskies scored 13 points in the next 4:16 to end the quarter. Take out that stretch and I thought the defense was pretty good considering UCONN leads the nation in shooting %.

(Brea didn't pick up another foul. She's usually good about defending without fouling.)

And to a 13-9 Washington team!!! WTH
Stanford had 24 rebounds. Total. No joke.

That's the risk of "going small."

I still won't to avoid them in the tournament since they are one of the few teams that can match our size.

I have watched the Geno postgame, listened to his players. Two or three things. The don’t really think they lost. We fouled them with no calls. Etc. They will beat us by 25 when Paige and Azzi are back. They sincerely do not really think much of any opponents. Even us. It’s like they didn’t really lose at all. Poof!

Could not find the players post game presser, if can share link it would be appreciated.
Geno’s pressers are so different in tone, focus, temprement and pacing than Dawn’s.

Dawn is not rushed but she wants to keep things moving. Geno is like, well I got no place to go and you don’t either.

Geno rambled and whined about the officiating. Talked about injuries. He was complimentary of us in a backhanded way. He said Our size was too much, he made it sound as if we were just tall not talented. He talked about how they needed to make 10 threes to win not just 3. He kinda sorta said we did a good job running them of the 3 pt line

When Boston hit a 3 in the 4th, the announcer said, "it's only their 3rd 3 of the day."

I was thinking, "that's one more than UCONN."

We did very good job of driving them off the 3 point line. Zia deserves special recognition since she was guarding Lopez Senechal. Senechal's only 3 was that miracle shot at the end of the 1st with LA defending.

DS preaches if they are going to beat us, it will be with 2s not 3s. It is a continual point of emphasis
