I think Bynum from Arky, Lexi Darnaski from Iowa St and if another spot, maybe the girl from James Madison as portal additions would be good. Unless there is a real quality post to get but Darnaski is the main one I shoot for. Conf defensive player of the year, and good three point shooter. Just what we want and need

Just saw this one just added to portal from Oregon. Looks like she would be a good get:

Te-Hina Paopao has entered the transfer portal, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Paopao, a third-year sophomore, averaged 13.1 points, a career-high 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Ducks this season. She has two years of eligibility remaining.
Paopao shot a career-high 44% from the field, including 42.4% from three-point range, and 88% from the free throw line

Another one out of florida …

Jordyn Merritt and one of the Wyche twins also in the portal.

AT THIS MOMENT

UF,UK, Auburn and Vandy are looking like a bottom 4 only capable of only beating each other. Unless something dramatic changes this is starting to look like a long term situation.

USC and LSU seem ensconced at the very top. Kellie Harper has pulled yet another rabbit out of her hat without signing a recruit EVER, by retaining Jackson and Key and bringing in Destinee Wells. Ole Miss appears to be the other possible stable top team.

The Mad mush in the middle A&M, Bama, UGA, Arkansas, Mizzou and Miss st will be teams stand to gain or lose the most from the portal.

So at least 4 of our 5 starters are gone next season with Beal's announcement. So I assume we're looking at this starting lineup before considering transfers.
Raven
Zia??? (Cooper)
Bree
Sania
Cardoso

Yes, I think that is the starting lineup. However, if Zia departs, the possibility is there for Dawn to land an elite wing in the portal.

I wish her the best. An outstanding player and even better person. The right decision for everyone, imo. Sania Feagin needs to start this coming season. She patiently sat on the bench last season, even though she's better than some of the players who got more minutes. And LA needs to be on a pro team. Her game is made for the next level.

I expect Dawn to add another low post player from the portal, but one that is not as good as Cardoso, Watkins and Feagin. Those three need and deserve more playing time.

Zia's not coming back. Dawn will get a few from the portal and we have a solid group to built from

We're for sure getting a post from the portal now. A 3 post rotation isn't ideal and I'm not sure if Kitts could battle with some of the biggest posts.

I think Kitts has the potential to be a Kiki-type stretch 4. But it took Kiki several years to ge there, so Kitts is probably a couple seasons away. Glad she's on campus and in the weight room.

Believe it or not just saw Kitts at Food Lion on Devine. She is tall and thin, 25 pounds of muscle from being a 4.
Really wish she had taken a red shirt. She could have still come in early, practiced w/the team and gotten in the weight room. She only played mop up in a few games. Wasted a year of eligibilty. She's going to have to get a lot stronger to survive in the SEC.

That's what I was hoping for. I wanted her Molly getting her body ready. I think she has the talent on both sides of the ball to be a great one. I also want to Fuliwiley in the gym as well, she's so tiny right now.

I agree with you in terms of playing the 4. When it comes to playing the 3, she's actually on the taller side. She rebounded well from that position in her limited minutes this season. The question with her playing the 3 is defense. She's obviously not going to be Brea, but we don't want a huge drop-off defensively either.

I say don't sleep on Tessa Johnson. It wouldn't surprise me if she lead all of the incoming class players in minutes this coming season. She's a natural fit at the 3, size wise, a willing defender and passer who can also score, including from behind the 3 point line.

Of course, the portal can change this discussion entirely. Dawn could bring in a starter at the 3. Or even the 2. Breezy has the size to move over to the 3. And, defensively, she gets us closer to replacing Brea.

I'm optimistic. I think there a lot of good possibilities.

and here she is …

Surprisingly only a 3 star coming out of high school. Final schools were DePaul, St John's, Rutgers. Picked her hometown team.

She's not exactly what we're looking forward. We need wings.

Ole Miss could be a in a play. They offered out of high school. We'll see.

I don’t see how dawn would turn her down if she sent feelers our way but as long as Tenn or LSU doesn’t snag her I’m good 😋

She plays the same position as Angel Reese and Rickea Jackson, so I doubt it. But you never know.

I second this. Now that the roster is taking shape with the departures, time for a new thread.
Why not just change title of thread? That way you have an ongoing record of our brilliance and dumbassery?

Oh and by the way, it is interesting to see the all of a sudden experts on both boards. Give me the insight on this thread over anything else on this site except MAYBE Chris Wellbaum

@TN-Gamecock... Can we start a new WBB Thread for the new Gamecock team??

Or are you trying for a record number of posts and pages???

Out with the Old and in with the NEW...
I prefer to keep it. The reason is simple, it's like a little history book. Most of the threads I've started in the past have had lots of posts and pages. I just want to keep this one going so 5 years from now, we can look back and see what we were talking about in the past.

I feel ya about the other threads. I think the comment that drives me up the wall is that the team needed another shooter. Ugh. This team went undefeated until the last game. Beat LSU by 24 points this season. The roster was loaded; clearly the best in the country. Criticizing Dawn for how should used the roster is more than fair. I'm not excusing her. But saying we needed more players doesn't really grasp what went wrong. In Dawn's defense, I will say it was a awful time for Brea to have a bad shooting game. She has shot so well this season. End rant.
