Never would of thought that Iowa would play the better defense between the two teams. Aliyah has been a no-show - she's been in foul trouble, but has focused more on defense, which has gotten her into that foul trouble. No offense at all from her. The Gamecocks have relied on Zia and the bench for keeping them in the game.....

Dawn will make adjustments at half. I think (hope) what we saw from Clarke is the best she can play. Can't imagine her playing with that much intensity for a full game. And if she does it doesn't matter because we will still be in the game. LA was a factor along with Cardoso off the bench. They have NO bench! We will win....
I honestly don't see a single adjustment that Dawn made. At the end of the 3rd, Dawn sounded clueless ""play a little bit quicker and make quicker decisions" and "get the ball to Aliyah". Iowa has five girls inside shutting down Aliyah and daring us to shoot outside, and we are forcing up bricks inside against a D that is contesting everything. Do we not have a consistent outside shooter? We have athletes but have been schooled tonight by girls with basic basketball skills, old-school stuff; pick and rolls, excellent passing, driving in the lane and passing back out, and free throw shooting. Hopefully we pull it out but it won't be because of Staley's coaching strategy.

Saxton with 0 points and 1 rebound and 2 turnovers. Same stat line she had two years ago against Stanford. Cost us two possible national titles.

It's a shame Dawn assembles a roster this talented and she doesn't play her best players.

Mulkey did more with less because she maxmized her best players.

Crushing - and historically tragic. The best team we have ever recruited, perhaps that anyone has ever recruited, will disband with one national championship. Gnawingly, disparagingly, wrenchingly disappointing. If Dawn wins her third, she might now have to wait as long as Vanderveer did. Does she have that long? Can she put the pieces together again?

We were beaten by one girl. Plain and simple. I didn't think it would be possible against our D but she is that good. Reminds me of Larry Bird when Indiana State had their run.

Thoroughly outcoached and outplayed tonight. Where were the 2nd half adjustments? How in the F does Clarke not get double teamed on those in bound passes at the end? I was perplexed with how we were guarding here towards the end. It's like we were daring the best scorer to beat us and she absolutely did. Still a great season but a few tweaks and we would have been national title winners again.

Listening to Clark in post game comments and she talked about game plan to pull their bigs away from basket and drive in for layups. Clearly out coached and Iowa executed smoothly. What a gut punch.

Watched a total of 5 minutes and I can't tell you how many times I saw that lardass Cardoso with her back turned to the play as Iowa drove the ball to the basket right past her. Pretty shocking. And effective.

Agree, crushing loss for such a talented team! Missing link has been outside shooting and I think that has finally been recruited. But it will be a challenge to get back to the pedestal we were knocked off of tonight.

I'm 72 years-old. I can't even collect enough composure right now to contemplate that. This is awful. The inability to address at all what we KNEW was coming is beyond my ability to fathom.

Unless they have tired legs or something, I just don't see LSU beating this Iowa team. However, if LSU found a way to do it, which I don't think they will, it would be tragically upsetting lol.
That would mean that the Dime Store Queen picks up her FOURTH national championship in only her second year of a reclamation project. It's too intolerable to contemplate.

Nope. It was lost when Cooke turned it over on three consecutive possessions with under 4 minutes to play and we were only down by 1 point.
Sorry, but Breeze should’ve taken a lot of minutes from Beal. LA should’ve spent more time guarding Clark. However, she did recognize that Flecter and Saxon need to spend time on the pine! Cooke could’ve spend a few minutes on the bench in the 4th quarter to calm down! Also, should’ve given Oliva some serious minutes during the regular season instead of clean up minutes. Maybe she would’ve been more better prepared to help the team with her 3 point shooting ability tonight! 👀

Man, looking at that stat line of Beal. She really struggled tonight. I mean obviously she was in foul trouble as well, but I feel for her. She had such a great and balanced year.

Can we keep the personal insults aimed towards our girls out of this forum.....especially since you don't have a clue regarding the young lady to whom you reference.

I know Zia is taking this so hard … yes she made costly mistakes but no one wanted to win more! Had she not played like she did tonight we would have lost by a much larger margin. I feel terrible for her!
Agreed. She was one of two reasons we were in the game. Tried to do too much down the stretch but didn't have a choice.
