Up to 9 votes in this week's AP Poll. Taking it out beyond the top 25, we'd be ranked 40th.

If we can take care of business in Daytona and do what we should do against Buffalo on Sunday, we should be knocking on the door of the top 25.

Thought we came out with lots of defensive intensity early, but took the foot off the gas for a stretch and gave up good looks.

Konan can’t pick up those silly fouls 20 feet out against good teams. However Nzeh gave us some quality minutes.

I like what Urgo did in that half defensively…threw some 2-3 at us, pressed a bit, didn’t allow us to get much at the rim, etc. We made some tough shots.

Really a great test tomorrow…haven’t seen a line yet, but should be about a pick (maybe opens at Clemson -1 or -1.5, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it move towards us as we’ve been taking a lot of $). Clemson would be a good win to add to the resume…would have us on the verge of the Top 25…and give us our first in-season/MTE tourney win since the 1995 Cable Car Classic (and first 7-0 start since that season).

Wow, has it really been that long since PSU MBB won a tournament? Here's hoping that this year's team puts an end to that.

We’ve had awful showings in the MTE’s. Orlando (multiple times), Cancun, Charleston, Connecticut. I’ll grab the results since that Cable Car Classic.

Glad I went through this exercise, as I realized that we did actually win a tournament that I forgot about, the 2000 ECAC Holiday Classic (albeit over a couple of pretty manageable opponents). Here is our showing in exempt tournies since the 95-96 season...

2023-2024 - 8th of 8 in Orlando (Lost to Texas A&M, Butler and VCU)
2022-2023 - 3rd of 8 in Charleston (beat Furman, lost to Virginia Tech, beat Colorado St)
2021-2022 - 3rd of 4 in Florida (lost to LSU, beat Oregon St)
2020-2021 - none
2019-2020 - 3rd of 4 in Brooklyn (lost to Mississippi, beat Syracuse)
2018-2019 - 2nd of 4 in Cancun (beat Wright St, lost to Bradley)
2017-2018 - 2nd of 4 in Brooklyn (beat Pitt, lost to Texas A&M)
2016-2017 - 4th of 4 in Connecticut (lost to Duke and Cincinnati)
2015-2016 - 3rd of 4 in Vegas (lost to Colorado, beat Kent St)
2014-2015 - 5th of 8 in Charleston (lost to Charlotts, beat Cornell and USC)
2013-2014 - 2nd of 4 in Brooklyn (beat St John's, lost to Mississippi)
2012-2013 - 6th of 8 in Puerto Rico (lost to NC St, beat Providence, lost to Akron and lost Tim Frazier)
2011-2012 - 3rd of 4 in Connecticut (lost to Kentucky, beat South Florida)
2010-2011 - none
2009-2010 - 7th of 8 in Charleston (lost to UNC Wilmington and Tulane, beat Davidson)
2008-2009 - 3rd of 8 in Philly (beat Penn, lost to Rhode Island, beat Towson)
2007-2008 - 8th of 8 in Orlando (lost to South Carolina, Rider, and UCF)
2006-2007 - none
2005-2006 - none
2004-2005 - 6th of 8 in Milwaukee (lost to Illinois St, beat Western Carolina, lost to South Carolina St)
2003-2004 - 2nd of 4 in New Mexico (beat Arkansas St, lost to New Mexico)
2002-2003 - none
2001-2002 - 2nd of 4 in California (beat Coppin St, lost to Cal)
2000-2001 - 1st of 4 at MSG (beat Princeton and Hofstra)
1999-2000 - 2nd of 4 in Arizona (beat Manhattan, lost to Arizona St)
1998-1999 - 3rd of 4 in Arizona (lost to FIU, beat Holy Cross)
1997-1998 - 4th of 4 in Texas (lost to UTEP and Mississippi St)
1996-1997 - none
1995-1996 - 1st of 4 in San Fran (beat Santa Clara and Bradley, winning a tourney featuring 4 NCAA teams as Georgia Tech was also in it...it featured eventual NCAA 3 seed, 5 seed, 8 seed, and 10 seed)

Some really painful memories in there (are we sure that Orlando is the happiest place on earth?). Sorry that I forgot about that ECAC title in 1999, but tomorrow could be our best win in an MTE since the Cable Car Classic in 95.

It's about 2 months from any Bracketology to mean anything at all, but since ESPN needs clicks, Lunardi even starts doing it before the season starts. It's kind of ridiculous.

But I'll disregard that and get excited that we've appeared in today's version of it...we're the 4th team out. And our opponent, Clemson, is in the field as a 10 seed. 11 of the 18 Big Ten teams are in the bracket, and 3 more (including us) are on the next 4 out. No great teams in the conference (it appears), but so much depth to it.

Clemson brings a different level of defense than we’ve seen this year. They are getting the game they want, in the half court. Need to find some baskets and get the game at our pace.

Konan has to avoid the 2nd foul. Also think we’ll need Puff a bit at the 5.

Just not getting quality shots…nothing at the rim, and way too many NBA 3s. Thankfully, we’ve picked up the D or this could have gotten away from us. Think we’ll have to bring Nzeh back with 2 to give Konan a break.

PSU three point shooting is revealing a little bit of fatigue. Smart to be pounding it inside. Should be an interesting second half.

Tons of credit to Konan for playing the rest of that first half after Nzeh went out, and doing so without picking up his 2nd. We’re seeing how important it will be to our success for him to avoid foul trouble…he’s a difference maker at both ends.

Just too many bad 3s that didn’t even draw iron.

Rhoades shortening the rotation in a big game…no Stewart in the first half, and Ace played all 20.

Also, Schieffelin is such a fun player to watch.

And tremendous defensive rebounding effort. Only allowed one offensive board in that half.

5 turnovers in the first 4 and change of the second half. Clemson is too good to beat them with these empty possessions.

Wish they would play a game or two on a channel I can watch them play…maybe some day we’ll get on a real channel.

Gave up 10 in the second half. And in our 10 turnovers, and we simply allowed them more chances to score (and Clemson capitalized on it).

Tired legs equals bad 3 pt shooting and poor rebounding. Of course Clemson had the same amount of rest. PSU needs a little more depth.
