Today 2nd day in the heptathlon for Hall. She was in 3rd place at the end of day 1, but ended up finishing in 5th.

An amazing play by the GK and the forward for Spain to score a 2nd goal in extra time, and win the gold over France, 5-3

Wrestler Helen Maroulis “pins” her opponent in 24 seconds for bronze, her third straight Olympic medal.

Tug of War was a medal event from 1900-1920. That seems weird for something we did at elementary school recess. Ping pong (sorry, table tennis)?? That's something we played in the basement when it was raining outside. And badminton is something you play in the back yard when you have a bunch of people over. Just buy some cheap rackets and a net that'll last until the first time somebody runs into it. It'll be ruined then you can throw it away.

Ping pong has been an event since 1988. Badminton since 1992. The unpopular opinion is they were added to draw in China as a regular participant. At the time the Chinese hadn't really developed other sports programs so ping pong and badminton gave them something to brag about to the folks back home.
If you want onto go down that hole, children have been seeing who could run the fastest, throw the furthest, and jump the highest since before man stood upright, yet we still have track & field.

That’s not the same hole but OK.

Watching the women’s basketball semifinal game on USA, Belgium vs. France. The French sure like their France. They’re going apesh|t.

France by six, just under six minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Big comeback by France at this juncture.

Watched both women’s semifinals. The announcers spent the entire USA-Australia game talking about everything except the game.

It's been quite enjoyable discussing the 2024 Summer Olympics here. However, I've got a family event to attend this weekend, which will pretty much preclude me from watching, and posting about, the Olympic events this weekend.

The women's soccer final, the men's and the women's basketball finals, the remaining track events, the men's waterpolo bronze match, and Zain Retherford in wrestling, are several of the events that I regret I'll have to miss. Hopefully, some of you will pick up for me, and post some of the results/the videos of action, etc.

Saturday morning wrestling opening round matches that I cared about.
Kyle Snyder won. Was down 4-0 early and won 9-5.
Kennedy Blades won. 11-0 the final points score injured her opponent and she was on the mat for some time. Probably a neck or concussion. It was pretty violent.
Zain Rutherford lost. He was never in the match. Hopefully he can get pulled into the repechage.

Synder (FALL) and Kennedy (4-3) both won their second round matches. Both over Cubans.
Only Cuban I ever beat had a side of fries.
Zain's 1st round opponent won, so Zain is still alive for repackage.

That is all for a few hours.

What time is Bocce on? Is the USA competitive of does Italy own this?

I’m waiting for shuffleboard. If curling is an Olympic winter sport then shuffleboard should be in the summer games. ;)
