“The Olympic flame has been extinguished and the flag has been passed. The incredible 2024 Paris Olympics is in the books. At home, fans vicariously enjoyed those viral chocolate muffins from the Olympic Village, watched a whale drop in on the surf contest in Tahiti and met breakout stars such as Harvard-educated fencer Lauren Scruggs and Rubik's Cube-solving "pommel horse guy" Stephen Nedoroscik.”

Chocolate muffins. Be right back.

Both men and women’s BB should see large roster changes for LA. KD, SC, and LJ won’t be returning for the men.

As long as Devin Booker is on the team, we’ll be okay. Unreal stats, will find and post later.

57% for both 2- and 3-point shooting.

I don’t follow the NBA closely and lost track of time. It shocked me on the weekend when I heard that Curry is 36.

There was a mild controversy in the media about Jayson Tatum’s lack of playing time in these Olympics and whether he will play for the U.S. in 2028. He should have a bigger role in four years.

I got tired of that stuff quick.

Here is the final count. I believe it applies only to American athletes. A number of foreign alums of US universities won medals, especially in rowing and track & field.

Not to say the thread is over and done with, but many thanks for helping make this a hell of a ride. It was a privilege to see all those athletes reaching for the stars, as one says.

So by that count, Stanford would have been 10th in medals if it were its own country. Italy had 40 and Germany had 33. Not too bad for the Trees!

Since its inception about 30 years ago, the Director's Cup has been won by Stanford 26 out of the 30 years the cup was awarded. Perhaps there's a correlation there.

Part of that could have been they were worried about everyone else and let him get open looks.

Well, sure. But he made his shots and did all the little things well, too. Booker, Adebayo, Holiday, White, they were 100% team.

Not an American, but I rooted for and cheered for Lydia Ko who by winning the gold medal in Paris qualified for the LPGA Hall of Fame at the age of 27. A remarkable achievement.

SIAP - Micha’s Uber crashed in Paris; she appears to be okay but got a hell of a shiner. Speedy recovery to the GOAT!

Also, on vacation with the family so internet is spotty.
