Found this Tweet from Adam Schefter interesting:

Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL for 5 seasons, and he was not a very good QB the last time he played. Bad actually. He's now 34, about the age when most QBs not named Tom Brady start declining somewhat. The game is faster now. But we're to believe that after having been out of the game for 5 years and now being 34 that he's in the best shape of his life? AND that he's good enough to lead a team to the Super Bowl? Come now. Maybe he's still good enough to have a backup job or something like that, but this Tweet is just absurd. Kaepernick is the missing piece for teams with Super Bowl aspirations? Nah.

It's great that he may still be in shape, however his prime years are behind him.

Peyton, Marino, Montana and Elway were all done by 38 or 39. Brees and Favre made it to 41. And they were all continuously active in the game. To think that someone could come back at 34 after not having played football for 5 seasons and be a Super Bowl caliber QB is kind of silly.

I don't quite think Kaepernick is quite in the same league as these legendary QBs. The average retirement age of an NFL QB is around 35 anyway, so it's very hard to believe he's hitting his peak.

Somebody give him a legit tryout and televise it on ESPN so we can all see how good he is or is not. Sign him to a contract OR move on.

The NFL did something unprecedented and arranged a mid-season workout exclusively for him. He boycotted it and held his own separate workout, where he mostly whined and complained.

I don't think he really wants to play again. He knows he can't. He just periodically needs to throw it out there that he's ready to play so he can keep up the narrative that the NFL is conspiring against him. This is how he makes his living now.

Besides, if he was REALLY wanting to play football, he could have being playing in the CFL or something all this time.

Why sign a guy who isn’t that great and will turn off over half your fan base?
And yet this board and the NFL went Gaga in love when Tebow got another chance last year.
Why is that? They both are courageous and speak the truth from a place of wanting the world to be a better place

Tebow was given a last-ditch, long-shot chance by his former college coach. There was never really any belief that he'd make the roster.

Anyway, Tebow wanted to play. Kaepernick doesn't.

That's why I want it on ESPN for the world to see. ESPN could arrange a mock tryout. It would draw viewers like Geraldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault. Settle this, one way or the other, and move on.

But a workout won't show if he can stand in the pocket and mentally navigate defenses.
I guess someone could bring him into camp, but he's going to have to really impress.

Maybe he could try playing TE.

edit. I really need to read through the other comments before saying something repetitive.

Because Tebow isn’t an America hating, hypocritical a$$shole. Actually, I think Tebow is the better QB.
So predictable, I’m old enough to remember those same kind of words being hurled at Ali, Jabbar, John Carlos, Tommie Smith and Curt Flood to name a few. Kaepernick will be honored 40 years from now and Tebow will be as side note.

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed.

I think it's a sad, sad commentary on our country that Kaepernick probably will be honored.

I also think comparing Kaepernick to Ali is a stretch, and that's being polite.

Which Ali? The beloved who lit the Olympic flame? Or the Godless Muslim hypocrite communist who threw his Gold medal in the Ohio River and excoriated America over its war mongering and evil racism?

I meant the Ali who actually sacrificed something for his principals, whether I agreed with them or not.

Hmm I don’t think you really remember the vile hatred that Ali received for speaking out on many of the same exact issues and principles that K has raised

Or I think there's a big difference in what they were willing to "sacrifice" and how sincere they were in their convictions. (Regardless of the people's reactions to them)

Dude Kap wore a shirt celebrating Castro, let that sink in and then keep standing on that soap box. America is far from perfect but lord help us with the woke nonstop agenda… can’t have your cake and eat it too sorry, when you show up and literally adorn a shirt with a gigantic POS that the whole country of Cuba has suffered under. You literally lose all respect.

If any team is stupid enough to sign that poisonous pos then they deserve whatever they would get. He should go to Russia or China and live there for a while. Maybe he would appreciate the freedoms he has disrespected a little bit more.
