He's definitely bright. I don't know what he's passionate about though. Is he a pragmatic populist? Is he an evil villain that wants to knee cap the executive? Hard to tell. Bright as he may be, he's very typical in the political world in that he's made massive shifts in opinions to position himself for an election win.
Which Vance do we get? Probably 50/50 he ends up with a promotion in the next 4 years given Trump's age/health.
Ckdog is pretty balanced.
Not a peep about Kamala shifting her policies to mimic Orange Man’s. It was comical seeing her reverse ship suddenly to policies that sane people want.He hasn't really had any massive shifts in opinion other than changing his opinion on Trump. He's pretty mainstream republican on most things, but reflective of the recent shift/realignment in that he's more non-interventionist compared to the average republican from 16 years ago, he's going to be a little more populist and as a result probably more open to tariffs and/or industrial policy/planning than the average republican from 16 years ago. He's anti-abortion and probably doesn't feel super strongly about whether a federal ban at some point in the pregnancy is justified, so that's something he may put his finger in the air on.
I mean, he's definitely new enough to the scene that he hasn't had a chance to really sell out to this or that and he is an unknown in that respect. But it's not like he's been bouncing from one side to the other on significant issues. He's been shifting within pretty narrow ranges within mainstream republican positions.

I can’t believe there are actual MSU fans who supported this.
BTW It appears Kamala is going to get about 15,000,000 fewer votes than Biden . That's a big number IMO.It'll happen before Don concedes 2020.
I can tell that you’re very upset about last night. You’ll be okay. Don’t fret. And if not you'll blame Biden. And if most metrics are flat compared to what's inherited there will be a moment of "well 2.1% inflation is actually good!". All the possible reactions are predictable. Fact is a very large chunk of voters don't really care about R or D or the name on the ballot. They just toss out the incumbent when gas or eggs go up. They sure as hell don't care about my investment returns last 4 years.
Anyhow, GOP will have to convince everyone things are rosey in the next year or so heading into 26. Will be tough to do outside of the party hardliners with as pessimistic they've positioned despite a pretty solid rebound last 2 years. Can things get better? Of course and I hope they do. But telling voters they are in a shittier hole than reality starts you behind the 8 ball politically bc they expect very quick improvements.
What are the quick wins can most voters expect to see in the next 1-2 years that will make them feel better at the grocery store or gas pump? I doubt the sledge hammer tariff stuff comes into play - that's too pricey for the consumer and will scare off most of Washington. The Vance/Thiel plans to dismantle the executive will be easier said than done and doesn't make eggs cheaper. That's a pet project for ideologues and who knows how far that gets. No tax on tips would actually do it but that's deficit insanity without an offset to the wealthy and going to be very polarizing politically.

Can't remember where I saw it, but a while back somebody posted data on inflation and sentiment that showed it took I think 18 months (or maybe 24 monts) after inflation was under control for people to stop feeling like it was painful. THey weren't comparing actual data on perception of inflation and obviously there weren't a lot of data points, so not sure how much stock to put into it (although it seems intuitive), but I would expect Trump will actually get a lot of credit for bringing inflation down if the inflation rate stays basically where it has been on a month over month basis the last few months. And that should happen provided the republicans avoid doing anything stupid like dropping trillions of dollars of "stimulus" in the next year and provided the feds don't 17 anything up on their own.As of last month year over year inflation was 2.4%. During Trumps first term it averaged about 2.2%.
Bc I'm a proud OG member of the TDS club! Lonnnnng before his presidency. I think Trump is the antithesis of what a leader should be - whether it be president, business, military, etc. Doesn't share successes. Blames others for failures. Talks himself up. Tears others down. Hasn't admitted he's ever done anything wrong or asked for forgiveness. Loophole and sue you into submission. But it doesn't matter what I think. Just look to the people that have worked for him. Not a good review there. The only people that ever speak highly of him are his family and the people that that currently think they can benefit by working for him. They, too, will join the long list of people he chews up and tosses aside like the trash. His tenacity and knack for survival is incredible but character still matters to me. It doesn't matter to some people but it does to me.So tell me why isn’t it you wanted the other person so much more than trump?
was it bc of their social policies?
I’ll give you left wingers credit, you do stick together pretty wellCkdog is pretty balanced.
I'm optimistic for my country and my family's livelihood. I don't need "not Trump" to be in office to do that. I hope that Trump unleashes those that are or feel held back so they can reach their full potential. I'd be a ****** citizen if it didn't hope for that.I can tell that you’re very upset about last night. You’ll be okay. Don’t fret.
Also, you seem to think everything is fine and good and what I see is that it isn’t. What over half of America doesn’t see it as good. You’ve got to be tired toting the water like you do. Hopefully you‘ll get a just reward for being a good and faithful comrade though
Yep. As clear of a mandate as you can get. Silver lining for me. We needed someone to win to this extent so we know clearly where we are at. No splitting hairs or over analysis required. America has screamed "lower my gas now! Fix immigration!" Maybe toss in some gender/DEI stuff in there but that's gravy/auxiliary to the first two. That's more twitter/water cooler talk than real life daily impacts.Other than the chic with the nice rack

It’s just water cooler talk until your daughter is smashed in the face by a guy the world tells you is a woman. It’s…what’s that word that liberals laugh at but continues to be proven correct…a “slippery slope” that continues until it’s everywhere because people tolerate the nonsense and then we wonder “how did we get here?”.Yep. He's going to have the house and senate with clear directives. Can he address what we're asking for? Last time he fumbled and handed it back to the Dems. He's beaten the GOP into submission so it's less likely they don't pull the direction he wants this time. It'll be clear if we are doing well / poorly and who to reward or blame. My biggest hope is they focus on the economy as instructed and don't get a boner for social grievance / abortion legislation at the federal level.
You let me know when that's a risk for your or my daughter and we can have a beer and talk about how to fix it. I don't see this becoming more than a clickbait issue that doesn't impact 99% of our lives and Washington should stay out of it. Yes, it happens. Do I like it? No. It's stupid. Man, the "yea, that's not currently my daughter taking a beat down or having penises waved in her face in the locker room, so it just doesn't seem like an issue worth addressing" never stops being a weird take to me. I mean, I get the tendency, that's always been there and it influences a lot of people's thinking. I just don't think people generally acknowledged it even in their own head, much less said it out loud. Even on issues where you can't just change/clarify a policy and fix it, you usually don't hear people say things like "it's not my or your kid suffering from an OD at the moment; we can talk about drug policy when it is."You let me know when that's a risk for your or my daughter and we can have a beer and talk about how to fix it. An old time conservative republican like Horse$h1t probably already has his stockpile.I’m sure he’s stocking up on ammo and guns for when all the jackboots and brown shirts visit him.
I’m not even joking. Given his instability and awful takes, he’s definitely taking the day off and lying in the fetal position rocking himself.

Anyhow, I'd vote for almost anyone else regardless of platform or policy as I still believe our checks and balances can withstand anyone - even an angry Don. We've morphed the presidency into some god-like position that influences our day to day. Tired of all that. Give me a president from any party that is optimistic, will stop making grand promises and simply just run the executive, shun EOs, and tell congress to get off their asses and send them legislation. Be a good diplomat. Let the 3 branches do their thing and kick each other in the nuts and continue our run.
TLDR - there aren't many people I think of less of than him and they weren't his competition. So I voted against him. Simple.
Are we not talking about sports? Christ, giving women beat downs and waving dicks at them is quite a goalpost shift and already illegal.Man, the "yea, that's not currently my daughter taking a beat down or having penises waved in her face in the locker room, so it just doesn't seem like an issue worth addressing" never stops being a weird take to me. Also, your federal politicians have already made it a core aspect of their position, threatening colleges and schools with Title IX violations if they try to have sex segregated sports or bathrooms. Too much money associated with Title IX compliance for a federal politician to treat it as a non-issue now.
Probly grabbed him by the pu$$yBut I don’t ever hear you ripping on them.

Like you wouldn't vote for a brick before you voted for Harris? I'm being polite here as well so ease up with the personal insults please. So you are an idiot. Got it.
Voting for a much worse candidate simply b/c you don't like someone is being an idiot. FACT.
It's great that its down but when they say 2.6% that's year over year. What was it a year ago ? 2 years ago ? 2.6% over 7.6 % over 9.4% is a lot. It would have to go negative for a year to get where it was in 2020. So bragging about the inflation being down is pretty short sightedThe FED usually targets 2% as a good inflation rate.
I’m not bragging. He just wanted year over year. I assure you I’m feeling the effects of that last 4 years of inflation. It's great that its down but when they say 2.6% that's year over year. Lots of sports are contact sports. Girls have been hurt by boys playing sports like volleyball and basketball and when female players don't want to play out of a concern for their safety, they have been criticized and cajoled by their school administrators. Are we not talking about sports? Id be perfectly ok with washington staying out of it. But the Biden Harris campaign got all up in it. Now Trump will have to undo what they did and you'll scream trump is getting involved where he doesn't belon. You let me know when that's a risk for your or my daughter and we can have a beer and talk about how to fix it. Again - boys should play in their own leagues and locker rooms. Make it so. Federally, locally, wherever. IDGAF. I saying I want my politicians to prioritize things relatively to their impact on society. Gas/eggs/immigration. Way high on the list. Boys in girls sports? Way down on list. Why? I can't influence gas/eggs/immigration. However, I can be involved and monitor what sports my daughter plays and whether or not boys are sharing locker rooms with her or making her unsafe in any way. I and any parent can nip that with a swiftness. Therefore, less of a focus in political discourse. Yes, Lefties gotta acknowledge priorities are out of whack with what the vast majority of society wants. Righties have to quit acting like our daughters are being beaten to a pulp or have to walk through the gauntlet of slapping dicks on their way to the john. Could it happen? Sure. Does it really keep most people up at night? Doubtful. With as many things that can and should be fixed it's wild to me that this one gets so much airplay as it does given actual scope/risk. I have to ask myself what it does...Lots of sports are contact sports. Girls have been hurt by boys playing sports like volleyball and basketball and when female players don't want to play out of a concern for their safety, they have been criticized and cajoled by their school administrators.
And lots of sports involve locker rooms, which used to be sex segregated. That was supposedly one of the complaints about the Ivy league swimmer guy, was that as time went on he became less and less shy about waving his around the girls in the locker room, although I don't know if anybody ever went on the record on that so that could have been made up. But regardless, Title IX is really aimed at education, and any schools receiving federal funding that try to have sex segregated facilities are at risk, whether it's bathrooms, dorms, or locker rooms.
Deep breath. Your boy won. Be happy!Trump has never once been against abortion. Never said much about it other than to get the anti abortion right vote.
I think abortion is terrible but generally the people aborting babies arent great parents and dont usually raise great humans so its a bit of a trade off i guess.
I think abortion should be a state issue and not a federal issue. SO DOES DONALD TRUMP.
But not 1 state in the USA has an abortion ban that doesn't have exceptions but the left spews that lie daily. They yell it from the tree tops. BUT ITS A BOLD FACE LIE.
The left yells about dictatorships while they weaponize OSHA to force people to take vaccines.
This is actually a strong, measured take. But I wonder if you feel the same way about illegal immigration? Because while my child hasn't been murdered by an illegal immigrant, there are quite a few parents who have experienced that nightmare. And while it might not happen very often, happening once is too many times. I do believe there are folks who are kept up at night wondering about the security of our nation under the current administration's border policy.Again - boys should play in their own leagues and locker rooms. Make it so. Federally, locally, wherever. IDGAF. I saying I want my politicians to prioritize things relatively to their impact on society. Gas/eggs/immigration. Way high on the list. In hindsight, Give me Bill Clinton of 1992 and 1996 vs George Bush 2004. And i'm not really a moderate.
