Did we seriously honor Miss Mississippi Fat at the game?

I left at half (again) and heard it as I was walking out. So we’re promoting obesity now? Seems fitting for the fattest state in the country.

I was unaware that Miss Mississippi Plus America was a thing.🤷🏻‍♂️

Is there a weight limit? Like.. you're too skinny so you can't compete?

Maybe we should play in a low talent football league. Say like.. you can't run under a 5.0 40 or have a BMI less than 25.
Sprint football. Nobody over 183 lbs is allowed to play. I think it's still a varsity sport at some of the Ivy league schools and service academies.

It would be the ultimate irony for SPS to become a board dedicated to cheering on a team full of players the size of our average left hind quarters.

ETA. Do I hear cowbells in that video?

Its a whole nationwide pageant. Not just Mississippi.
It's one thing to have it, it's another thing for a state university to actually celebrate it. I've got no problem with big girls organizing a pageant where they think they can compete. If it existed, I'd definitely like to compete in a basketball league where nobody's vertical is over two feet and I hope nobody would begrudge me that. But I also wouldn't expect to get honored at halftime of an MSU game for doing well in it.

But even more so if it promoted unhealthy habits. There are probably a few exceptions of girls that are actually just built big, but I would assume for the vast majority of the participants, the most important health goal they could have would be to get to where they no longer qualify to be in the event. A university shouldn't be promoting things like that.

I know nothing of it besides she was honored. Maybe she’s an MSU student?

When I was in Jr College, I was part of a Chrisitan organization that sponsored someone in the Miss Community College Pageant. A few guys recommend a bigger girl because she was a great girl with a good heart that loved Jesus. The director vetoed them and said boys if we put that product out, we will have no guy wanting to follow the Lord on this campus. Some of the best wisdom I have heard.

Is it wrong if I ask to see a better Pic of the cowbell? That thing looks blingy
+1. You know that old commercial where the guy had a choice between two car rental companies? One was sexy and had a great body, while the other was... larger... and clearly in second place?

Well I can tell you, Avis definitely tried harder.

This is TRUE! The Bible provides clear instructions for over eaters.

Here you go. Ms Mississippi Plus.

God forgive me, but it looks like her bottom half is put on backwards. Looks like she is about to take off walking backwards with her but just under her belly. Those pants also look like the back of her knee is in the front. I guess those are just knee dimples. She’s probably a sweet gal though and she’s a bulldog so I’m pulling for her to have some kids that can play on the o line in 20 years. Go Dogs!

I think that would make it worse. If we're going to encourage anybody to be unhealthy, it should be people from other schools.

I took the time to look it up, and you need a 35" waist or larger to compete. And while male sixpacker with a 35" waist might be in the skinniest 5% of sixpackers, it's less than ideal for women:

"A waist circumference of greater ... than 35 inches for women is 'considered elevated and indicative of increased cardiometabolic (heart disease-related) risk,' said Craig Peters, DO, an HonorHealth cardiologist. 'Elevated waist circumference or waistline measurement is an indication of abdominal obesity and increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia (elevation of blood cholesterol, triglycerides or both) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.'" https://www.honorhealth.com/healthy-living/effects-waist-size-your-health

So if the starting point to qualify is reaching a waist size that is considered unhealthy, we probably shouldn't celebrate that any more than we should celebrate the winner of drinking games around campus.

For the record, we also honored Ms Teen USA, who was from Mississippi.
