Do you think there will be a high demand to attend a first-round home CFP playoff game in Beaver Stadium? Here is why I ask:

It certainly won't be a "half empty" student section...any student that wants a ticket will have to pay up for it, so if anything, the student seats that they sell should be pretty packed (though doubt it would be all 21k).

I'd guess that the stadium will be packed...but it won't be an extremely difficult ticket to get, and hopefully the resale market ends up reasonable for those that want to get in.
How much would students have to pay for playoff tickets? I think they pay $246 for the season which is 7 games ($35/game).

PSU fan the past several years: “Imagine a playoff whiteout. I hope I live long enough to experience one. I’d be all over it.”

PSU fan when the first playoff whiteout is announced: “No way am I going. Too f*cking cold. Who thought football in Beaver Stadium in December was a good idea? For f*ck’s sake.”
The NFL does it. Of course most fans aren't driving 2+ hours through the mountains to get to the game.

Dang! When I was at State students could get season tickets for all 7 home games for $35! My times have changed!

It is my understanding there are no “student” tickets, per se?
That's what I was wondering. If students pay $246 for season tickets how many are going to stay in State College and pay $150 for a single game in cold weather so close to Christmas? I'm sure a lot more will stay if dorms are open and tickets are in the $25-$50 range.

Season parking passes aren't valid for commuters so it's difficult to impossible to plan a tailgate.

I don't think it's going to be the same atmosphere we're used to having. Maybe 90,000 with fewer students and a lot more fans of the visiting team. But what do I know?

I'm almost certain that tickets won't be $150 for students...though I'd guess that they will be more than the ~$35/game that they paid for the rest of the season.

If we had a contest and I had to guess a price point for student tickets, I'd go with $75. Although there is a rumor out there that they will be much, much cheaper.

I realized how much they changed when I heard that a friend's son is paying over $1200/month for his apartment downtown. 25 years ago, I was paying <$300/month.

Five of us split a place in gateway that was 1200/ month total back in 97 and 98.

1. It is likely to be on Saturday, December 21. Fall semester finals end on Friday the 20th, and like the games straddling T-giving break, the vast majority of students will be on their way or at home for the holiday break. Will it be a half empty student section?

2. The weather could be horrific. Cold, rain or even snow. The grass tailgate lots could be closed if wet/muddy. The roads in/out of town could be a mess.

3. Ticket prices/face value on either sideline range from $206 to $256 a piece. That seems tolerable if we host an SEC squad or Notre Dame. But what if we are #5 (the "Golden Seed") and we host #12 Boise State?

4. It is Fall semester graduation December 20-22 weekend and many hotels are already near capacity that weekend.

Thoughts?

Maybe the game should be held at the Linc in Phila or Acrisure in PGH? Their infrastructure is certainly much better set up for a cold December game.
Packed with 110k period! Any other questions?

I am going to guess it's not as much of a logistical nightmare as you might think. I would venture that the University had worked through these issues.
The BWICAC has its hands full coaching the team. We cannot handle stadium staffing issues as well!

ah look at that.....I wouldn't have thought that I would be invoiced, without my approval of wanting or not wanting tickets

Please tell me you don't believe they would charge your credit card without your approval.
With Ticketmaster, there is a good possibility.
For my two seats in EE WC, TM is supposed to be charging $516, they billed me double. $1032, on the invoice.
I will get it straighten out before actual billing.

Maybe there was a question for a tip and Ticketmaster hit the 100% button for itself.

I've been reading that they are expected to be $25. I think the CFP has set the prices the same for all playoff candidates and some schools give students football tickets for free, which could explain why PSU students may end up paying less for a playoff game than a regular game. Reports have also said the students will have the same number of tickets allocated for this game as any other which IIRC is about 21k.

No idea where some of you come up with this crap. The stadium and student section will be full and rocking no matter weather. The thought of moving it to Philly or Pittsburgh is stupid. No one cares about concessions, and few care about graduation. Penn State and other major schools aren’t going to ask CFP to plan around graduation either.

My last year I split a room at UT for $185 a month total for the both of us. My son pays $820 a month at App St.
