“According to a USA Today report Sunday, the complaint was filed by Brenda Tracy, a prominent sexual assault prevention advocate, who claims Tucker sent her gifts, asked if she would date him if he wasn't married and masturbated without her consent during a phone call.

Tracy visited Michigan State in August 2021 and April 2022 to speak to the football team about preventing sexual misconduct, and she was named an honorary captain at the team's spring football game during that April visit. After the game, Tracy said Tucker called her multiple times, asked her repeatedly to meet him alone and "even suggested slipping into her hotel through a back door so no one would see him," according to the USA Today report.”

This seems far-fetched given her line of work. She is brought in to train about preventing sexual misconduct, and then she gets sexually harrassed. I doubt it. Nevertheless, it should be enough to get tucker fired. He did admit to “Being right back” over the phone. Egad.
All I can think of about this situation .....is that if Tuck knew when to say "be right back" during his phone calls ......his career situation would be far more stable.

Why would one continue with the phone call if the person on the other end of the call was doing something offensive? Was ending the call not possible?

Consensual or not, how do you think jerking off to a telephone call will play with recruits and their families? Would you want to shake hands with the guy?
How can MSU have a football coach that has admitted that he is not "Master of his Domain!"

McMurphy is still a fu@king moron. It's not just a "formality." MSU is getting its ducks in line for the inevitable lawsuit that will follow when it fires Tucker for cause.

McMurphy’s got this.

Had this happened a couple of years ago, Mel would have been immediately accepted into the Nick Saban rehabilitation academy. Unfortunately after last night they don’t have any openings.
It did happen a year ago. Why is he being suspended today? The university knew about the accusations and the investigation. The only thing that has changed is now the public knows.

I am wondering too, that if it's a phone call how does she know what he is doing on the other end of the phone?

Well there’s Zoom for one. Also unless his defense is that he’s a pathological liar, I believe that he admitted it.

Mel admitted that he was chocking his chicken without the woman's consent. What if she had said it was ok? Would he still have gotten suspended???
So what several of my friends are now concerned about is, hypothetically in HS 43 years ago, if they thought about a girl in their class while auto-gratifying to the mental image of said classmate without her consent, whether they are subject to a criminal charge. Anybody have any words of wisdom I can share with THEM?

I have a hard time accepting this. The investigation didn't get completed after Saturday's game. Suddenly, he gets suspended on Sunday, which just happens to be when the news broke to the public.
That's not quite correct. MSU's investigation was completed in July. The next step was to be a hearing, scheduled for October.

Apparently USA Today got hold of information and published it, which I'm guessing gave rise to MSU's actions.

So if this doesn‘t go public, tucker doesn’t get suspended? Shouldn’t they have suspended him anyway? He admitted to tugging while on the phone. Egad.

Good questions. My guess is that without it going public he wouldn't have been suspended,

At what point should he have been suspended? Complaint was received in December 2022. Report was completed in July and contained no conclusion (which is standard at MSU and maybe for Title IX investigations in general)..

Maybe this has been discussed, but help me with this …

[Tracy] thought to herself ‘Oh my god, this is happening and I can’t stop it, it’s going to happen whether I like it or not.’ [Tracy] was trying to figure out what to do. It didn’t occur to [Tracy] that she could hang up. [Tracy] kept thinking over and over that she has to say something and that she can’t let this happen again, referring to her prior experience of being a victim/survivor of sexual assault.”

My phone has a button I push if/when I want to end a conversation.
🤷🏻‍♂️
I’m not making light of the incident, just find it strange.

Tucker has a $77 million buyout?
Hope they wrote in a good morality clause in that contract, and have good lawyers.

Agreed. Something smells fishy here (pun intended). It almost sounds like she was a honey trap for MSU to fire Tucker. No way that someone with her background would have let this go on to the point that it did.

Being cynical: depends, right? If he wins the national championship, then they suspend him and investigate. If he starts losing during the season, suspend and investigate. As long as as he kept winning during the season, they weren't going to do anything is my take. This is modern athletics.
