It's funny how many people dislike Jay and most of them have never met him.
There's no need to meet Jay to dislike him --- one thing I've learned in my 44 years, his entitled personality type is fairly common place in the world.
It's funny how many people dislike Jay and most of them have never met him.
I'd rather be lucky than good.
Re: Q41. I don't believe anyone voted for or against Jay based on his daddy. Thats's just stupid.
2. We should vote in a political situation to justify not voting for someone and vote for the other candidate . . .just because?!?
3. Who is talking about his coaching resume?
4. What has he accomplished as a BOT member so far?
Other than cashing in off of his last name…no.
As far as Lubrano, he will always be a varsity baseball letterman wanna be.
No longer can call them “held back”. The term now used is reclass.Kind hearted people wanted him to win an election for something....anything
Kind of like when a kid who is held back twice is elected class president
He won because he had the support of the only people that count.PSU is the loser.
Let’s try again. Please list the reasons for electing Jay without mentioning his dad or the past.
1…2…3…go
You are the loser. Almost a dozen years after Joe's demise, you still have a hard on for a guy who doesn't know or care that you exist. I understand that no father has ever hired his son to coach for him...before or sincePSU is the loser.

Another Orwellian MomentNo longer can call them “held back”. The term now used is reclass.
Sad but true.
A better question might be...what has any alumni trustee been able to accomplish since 2011?1. I don't believe anyone voted for or against Jay based on his daddy. Thats's just stupid.
2. We should vote in a political situation to justify not voting for someone and vote for the other candidate . . .just because?!?
3. Who is talking about his coaching resume?

And you still can’t provide one reason for electing Jay without mentioning his dad or the past. Not one.You are the loser. Almost a dozen years after Joe's demise, you still have a hard on for a guy who doesn't know or care that you exist. I understand that no father has ever hired his son to coach for him...before or since
You are like the little kid who rationalized losing by claiming you were better....but just didn't try. Sad.
Obsess much? And you still can’t provide one reason for electing Jay without mentioning his dad or the past. Not one.
And the name calling only diminishes any point you are trying to make…if there is one.
I don’t particularly care about him and am indifferent that he was re elected. But there’s specifically pointed criticism pointed towards Jay that seems way more intense than is warranted than him just being unremarkable as a Trustee.1. I don't believe anyone voted for or against Jay based on his daddy. Thats's just stupid.

I did not attack his character or said any vitriol against him. My question is, what makes Mr. Paterno a qualified PSU Trustee (I DID not vote for him on my ballot)? My mileage does vary.I don’t particularly care about him and am indifferent that he was re elected. But there’s specifically pointed criticism pointed towards Jay that seems way more intense than is warranted than him just being unremarkable as a Trustee.
I don’t think any alumni elected Trustee is going to have any particular effect on the Academic rankings, school costs or budget issues (which I would argue are huge issues for PSU).
I guess my point is that I don’t really get the vitriol directed towards Jay. If you think he’s a poor Trustee or someone else would be better, cool. Go and argue for that. But there are attacks on his character or how he’s living his life than seem irrelevant to the BoT election and to me seem out of bounds. YMMV.
Great question. No one can provide an answer.I did not attack his character or said any vitriol against him. My question is, what makes Mr. Paterno a qualified PSU Trustee (I DID not vote for him on my ballot)? My mileage does vary.
So you're saying Brandon Short needs to go? It goes both ways.Academic ranking has gone from 50th to 77th during his tenure. We now rank in the bottom third of the Big 10 academically. Anyone on the board during that time needs to go.
Well, he’s a university alumnus. Is there anything else that makes someone “qualified” for an Alumni Trustee position?I did not attack his character or said any vitriol against him. My question is, what makes Mr. Paterno a qualified PSU Trustee (I DID not vote for him on my ballot)? My mileage does vary.
Brandon was elected a year after Jay, but I'm fine with that.So you're saying Brandon Short needs to go? It goes both ways.
And you still can’t provide one reason for electing Jay without mentioning his dad or the past. Not one.
And the name calling only diminishes any point you are trying to make…if there is one.
Exactly. None of this impacts anything. Who cares who is elected really? Vote for who you want but there’s no reason to really get worked up no matter who wins. You guys are arguing about this like it makes the slightest difference. Wake up.
And you are well adjusted. There's no need to meet Jay to dislike him --- one thing I've learned in my 44 years, his entitled personality type is fairly common place in the world.
He thinks HE DESERVES BETTER.Obsess much?
Hmmm...I hate Jay Paterno...never met him. But his Dad gave him a job and his name is Paterno. I've carried this opinion around for more than a decade. I'm interested in growth and excellence.Mr. Marshall is not worth your time.
He literally spelled out his life philosophy ("I'd rather be lucky than good") above. That's a terrible philosophy for anyone interested in growth and/or excellence, but it is one he believes in.
PSU and Alumni need to decide what type of athletic department it wants to be...do you want to have teams that compete for National success or do you just want to provide competitive competition (ie: Do you want to be like tOSU or similar to Ivy schools) That will answer the question of what money needs to be spent to achieve the goal.Do you think the stadium project has any financial objectives in the conventional sense i.e. achieving a reasonable rate of (financial) return, or, failing that, being cost effective? The more I hear the powers that be describe their approach, the more I become convinced that there aren't any. They're just building something that they think needs to be built. Remember the term "satisficing?"
Here we go again.....everything is the fault of alumni that graduated in the 80's or before.....time to think of a new and improved insult. BTW....PSU played in the MNC 3 times in the 80's and was considered a public Ivy...Unfortunately 11,000 geezers still stuck in the 80’s can’t get past the idol worship of the former coaches son…oh well.
Please list the reasons for electing Jay without mention his dad or the past. 1…2…3…go
Considered a public Ivy? Revisionists history. Runner up if you count that. Here we go again.....everything is the fault of alumni that graduated in the 80's or before.....time to think of a new and improved insult. BTW....PSU played in the MNC 3 times in the 80's and was considered a public Ivy...
How is spending $700,000,000 for comfy seats and nice bathrooms for people who don't play, coach, or recruit going to win a single game? Do you think the players give a crap about the stadium seats?PSU and Alumni need to decide what type of athletic department it wants to be...do you want to have teams that compete for National success or do you just want to provide competitive competition (ie: Do you want to be like tOSU or similar to Ivy schools) That will answer the question of what money needs to be spent to achieve the goal.
Considerably better than it is today.Considered a public Ivy? Revisionists history. Runner up if you count that.
What Are The Public Ivies?

fact? did anyone actually witness this- other than Short? The simple fact that Jay wouldn’t shake James’s hand at the BOT meeting following the season is disgusting enough that he shouldn’t have been re elected.
Multiple people supposedly witnessed it, it was discussed pretty thoroughly on the premium forum.fact? did anyone actually witness this- other than Short?
(and no, I'm neither a Joebot nor an election denier.)
Yep..so why is Jay being re-elected?Considerably better than it is today.
That's what I thought. Internet talk doesn't weigh much. I'm not defending Jay- but I'm certainly not believing anybody else who has a competing agenda, either- not without some actual proof.Multiple people supposedly witnessed it, it was discussed pretty thoroughly on the premium forum.
Also, are we getting to the point that people are going to call Short and Mauti liars……for Jay?
If someone said something supposedly happened it must be true. No need for verification or context...burn it down. That's what I thought. Internet talk doesn't weigh much. I'm not defending Jay- but I'm certainly not believing anybody else who has a competing agenda, either- not without some actual proof.
No, I don't believe this story, simply because there would have been nothing to gain in it for Jay to make such a stupid gesture.
Because you don't always get what you want.Yep..so why is Jay being re-elected?
Ok. So since the money is coming out of your personal pockets what is your proposal? Do nothing?
