I don’t particularly care about him and am indifferent that he was re elected. But there’s specifically pointed criticism pointed towards Jay that seems way more intense than is warranted than him just being unremarkable as a Trustee.
I don’t think any alumni elected Trustee is going to have any particular effect on the Academic rankings, school costs or budget issues (which I would argue are huge issues for PSU).
I guess my point is that I don’t really get the vitriol directed towards Jay. If you think he’s a poor Trustee or someone else would be better, cool. Go and argue for that. But there are attacks on his character or how he’s living his life than seem irrelevant to the BoT election and to me seem out of bounds. YMMV.
I did not attack his character or said any vitriol against him. My question is, what makes Mr. Paterno a qualified PSU Trustee (I DID not vote for him on my ballot)? My mileage does vary.

He literally spelled out his life philosophy ("I'd rather be lucky than good") above. That's a terrible philosophy for anyone interested in growth and/or excellence, but it is one he believes in.

Hmmm...I hate Jay Paterno...never met him. But his Dad gave him a job and his name is Paterno. I've carried this opinion around for more than a decade. I'm interested in growth and excellence.
PSU and Alumni need to decide what type of athletic department it wants to be...do you want to have teams that compete for National success or do you just want to provide competitive competition (ie: Do you want to be like tOSU or similar to Ivy schools) That will answer the question of what money needs to be spent to achieve the goal.
Here we go again.....everything is the fault of alumni that graduated in the 80's or before.....time to think of a new and improved insult. BTW....PSU played in the MNC 3 times in the 80's and was considered a public Ivy...

That's what I thought. Internet talk doesn't weigh much. I'm not defending Jay- but I'm certainly not believing anybody else who has a competing agenda, either- not without some actual proof.

I really like James and I'm not a fair weather supporter either. However, it matters very little to me if there are hard feelings between he and Jay. Most coaches understand that they are unlikely to enjoy universal acclaim.

Given their voting history, lack of knowledge of the NIL, continuing to divert funds away from the football program, etc I think they are pretty much morons and not exactly trustworthy or believable. Still, they are more credible and intelligent than you, and we all know how high that bar is.
