He is young and I am sure is used to dominating. But college is big step up. Coach is trying to teach some valuable lessons it appears, but GG looks like he is half trying when he comes in. Effort is lacking big time. Hope he gets a different approach soon.

What’s worse? Missing on GG and letting another one out of state? Or landing him and “doing nothing with him”?

You got to cut CLP some slack he was left with absolutely nothing to work with from CFM and his starting point guard is out for the season. GG is acting like a two year old no excuse for it. Young yes but he made a man decision so you got to handle business on manly terms.

What starting point guard is out for the season?...

GG has literally cost himself millions over the past two weeks. He will likely go in the 1st round but needs another year in college or the g-league.

He obviously should not have left high school early. He was not developmentally ready. Needed some maturing.

Look at this embarrassment.

Martin wasn't an embarrassment, but, after a decade, we pretty much knew what we were going to get with him. We had to part ways, not because he was terrible, but just because it was necessary to try taking a next step. Not every coach is dismissed b/c he's bad at his job. Many times you just need a new voice and new direction. That's basically where we were.

And we hired a much lesser coach. There's no doubt our current team is one of the 2 or 3 worst in the history of the SEC.

I do think it was foolish to part ways with Martin to then just replace him Paris. Maybe Paris will end up being phenomenal, I don't know. But if you're gonna let Martin go, which I think was the right decision, then I think you need to have a plan in place for a replacement. It appears that Tanner dismissed Martin without any clue what the next steps were.

I am not embarrassed by a first year coach struggling and will continue to support this team. I was more than embarrassed by Martin's antics as was the university.
I show up every game so I’m thinking that’s support. Other than the GG crap, what I see is:

1. Don’t know how to run the court on breakouts.
2. Have no plan to break a press.
3. Have no set inbounds plays.
4. No great call set play after a timeout.
5. Zero improvement on blocking out and rebounding.

These are coaching issues. This is what worries me.

On the telecast on the SEC Network, they mentioned in the first half that teams are improving this time of the year. They mentioned Mississippi State, Vandy and Florida. We were definitely not in that conversation. Carolina is very hard to watch. I feel sorry for the fans that have season tickets.

You can call this a coaching issue but we don't have a point guard. This impacts your first four points you referenced. I'm not going to put the point guard issue on Paris. He tried with Johnson. He's simply not a point guard.

I disagree on #5. Grey has made huge improvements in this area.

I am going to give Paris a pass this year. Go watch some of his prior teams. They had a solid plan. Talent / cohesiveness is the issue here. If they don't show major improvement in some of the areas you mentioned next year, I will start to slide over to your side.

Until last night, we have played solid ball over the past couple of weeks. Pay attention. If the SEC Network doesn't mention us, it must not be true?

MBB has some soul searching to do. It’s looking like Tanner dropped the ball on another major hire
Its a definite Maybe, and a shame to finally see Josh Grey going up strong with the ball, I am wanting to see the other freshman turn into something or this will become exactly what we have seen before.

In relation to 1 & 2 some of the turnovers coming from the guard play is beyond comprehension

Does have an inept coach
I like the way Paris in handling it. Professional and positive. When GG is playing the way he is with lack of effort it hurts the team. Basketball is not an individual sport.

Which games? We had single-digit losses to .500ish SEC teams Arkansas and Mizzou then eked out a win over one of the other worst teams in the SEC, Ole Miss. Then we got spanked again last night. I'll agree, for the 2 games against Arkansas and Mizzou, we seemed to play somewhat better. But then you have last night's performance at home against a .500 SEC team.

Exactly. Martin should never have been hired, should have been fired earlier...but not when we did it. He was 18-13 had an experienced team returning and his best recruiting class. We paid 20 million dollars to go from 20 wins to the worst team in SEC history. No administration should be able to screw up this bad. We had Gregg Marshall and BJ available and we hired Paris instead. We don't want to win.

The pass on Marshall befuddles me. The man is an NCAAT machine. Yeah, he has baggage, but we aren't a significant enough program that the media would have cared that much about it. I'm fine with the decision to part ways with Martin. After 11 seasons, the relationship had run it's course. But you gotta know which direction you're going after you pull the trigger on the dismissal. It appears that we let Martin go without having a short list of possible replacements.

True but you PRACTICE running the floor. You PRACTICE a plan to break a press. All we do is dribble. Dribble. Dribble. I’m pulling for the guy and I like him but these are coaching issues. Like the offense….No plan.

How to run the floor on a break can be done with robots. It’s “HOW TO” then execution. We have neither.

I think you answered your own question. Arkansas, Mizzou and ole miss is who we played the last two weeks. Winning on the road is tough in the SEC, regardless of the opponent. Particularly when you don't have a ton of talent. We also played well against UGA late last month.

We obviously laid an egg last night.

Well, Ole Miss is winless at home in conference play this year, going 0-10. It may be hard to win on the road, but not at Ole Miss.
