I surmise it might be along the lines of '94 Nebraska"
"We'll play them in a parking lot in Brooklyn"

Pretty sure no coach has to contemplate this as they have no choice to opt their team out of a conference champ game
As posted in another thread, this would likely be considered a forfeit. That, IMO, wouldn’t bode well for the team doing that.

In the three National Champuonship games that PSU played under Joe ('82, '85, '86) they did not play a conference championship game first.

So.... I think he would be ok.

True. They also weren't in a conference at the time. I still hold him in high regard so I would choose to believe he would never consider not playing any team the scheduled placed in front.
