So Robbie just confirmed on 247 they’re doing a left field lounge style setup on the west side upper decks and there will only be seating in the middle sections this fall. Apparently going to release renderings very soon. This sounds like a poorly thought out idea.

I'm not a huge fan but I will give them credit for trying. It might be a hit.

I'm just wondering how they're going to tote those grills, charcoal, coolers, and food all the way to the top...

I'd use sarcasterisks but it could happen.

My main concern that is this feels just throw together without a lot of thought. If it was in the SEZ I’d be a little more trusting of the idea. That deck is super steep.

I bet it’s like a catered setup or something. There’s no way they’d allow grills in a 60k stadium especially that high in the air.

What about season ticket holders in the other sections out side the center?

Apparently the few sold are being contacted this week.

I don’t really mind. We’ll see how the execution ends up, but the old model of everyone having a ticket in a seat seems to be dying. My best experiences at sporting events these days are in standing room and club levels. Both allow you to move around and spread out. The idea of buying a ticket and sitting in the same seat for 3 or 4 hours seems rather boring.

If they’re wanting to reduce capacity, I’d much rather see chairbacks for the whole stadium. Football doesn’t have as slow a pace of play as baseball to make in-stadium tailgating work. Seems like a sure fire way to reduce fan engagement.

Exactly that’s one of my main worries. You want fans engaged at all times at football games. Also from what I’m reading on 247, this is going to be terraced seating with drink rails.

If they dont do something more socially inclined, there won’t be any fans to be engaged in the upper deck

Credit for trying. In this day and age you have to offer different things to different fans to get them to the game. Everyone wants a different game day experience. I personally hate this because if they are really trying to make it the "LFL at Davis Wade" then I feel it lessens the actual LFL. LFL was created by fans and has been special to baseball at MSU for decades. Who knows, maybe once I see the renderings I'll think differently

By God if they offer fresh pretzels up in those nose bleed terraces, I'm in.

It's dumb on the surface. Grills in the upper deck??? I'll wait and see. Maybe I'm wrong. Just chairback the whole damn place and cut the numbers down. Golf tents and upper deck grills are gimmicks.

The future of the west side of Davis Wade is to drop that sucker to the ground and start over. Then rebuild it with about 50 lower level rows with malco quality chairbacks, closer to the sideline, back of endzone to endzone. Then luxury seating above those 50 rows, club level, sky boxes etc.

Probably should have made this decision five months ago or at least before the seat selecting period.

I disagree with your comment but I’ve got to give you a 2021 if only because you find a way to demonstrate your absolute dedication to your obsession.

Basically a Levi’s Stadium look.

I went to the Fare Thee Well shows there in Santa Clara almost seven years ago and really liked that stadium design.

God knows it would help the attendance for those games immediately. Do it like Husky Stadium

Shade and free, dependable WiFi would help a lot. If the state would open up sports betting apps, I think many would like to gamble while at the game. Can we sell the stadium land to the Choctaw and get mobile sports betting?

My goodness, the planning and design team that did this masterpiece deserves a national award. Most beautiful in-game tailgate tents in America. To add another prestigious award to the many "most beautiful campus" awards they proudly boast about.

Now that is a party tent if I have ever seen one

I'm guessing they weren't anticipating ticket sales to be as bad as they were so they had lots of space to do something with

From an engineering standpoint, it seems pretty much impossible to execute something like this on such short notice without a shitload of plywood or scaffolding entering the chat. God help us.

Methinks Choctaws are buried there, now.

The state is leaving a huge wad of money on the table by not allowing mobile sports betting. I know the current casinos are all about protecting their turf, but can't we compromise and only allow mobile sports betting from casinos that currently have MS based casinos?

Just googled this, looks very doable. Would make a ton of difference for those on the west side for early games and those on the east side for later games.

I wish we'd tear down and rebuild similar to what Oregon State is doing. I've been to that stadium (before this renovation, obviously). It's a great stadium - close to the field, loud, intimate setting (not overbuilt) with covered seats on both sides. They're currently tearing down the "old" side and completely rebuilding it.View attachment 24562
