A "Saban like move" v a Saban move? The Saban move would be to hire Diaz as an analyst.Who is this hard coach, good recruiter that will stay 3-5 that you desire?
Nobody on this board had ever heard of Knowles until 3 weeks ago.
Robinson is a great recruiter, but zero experience as a DC.
This is a Saban like move. Get the most out of him and if he draws interest enough to leave, that probably means we have a great defense in '22.
If not, we probably move on in 1 year a la Kirk C.

And lots of them are posting here.I like the hire. He has the experience and success many of us demand.
On the flip side, there are those who won't be happy with anyone.
He'd rather Narduzzi at every coaching position.Who is this hard coach, good recruiter that will stay 3-5 that you desire?

Yes. Just way, way less of them.Miami fans? Are they as "smart" as our fans?

DC looking for Manny, they found him under the in the credenza in the coaches box, saying he can't bear to watch.this requires a bit more of an explanation
This IMO, is a good problem.me too, though suspect if he smells success he’ll get offers and leave.
Yes! Bye Brandon Smith! It's been like a Rocky fight, a lot of back and forth shots. Hopefully we can hit hard, AND wrap the arms moving forward.
Mack Brown resigned from the head job at Texas because Diaz was s baby? Sounds like a clueless Miami fan with an axe to grind. Probably would fit right in on this board. One person's thoughts from another board. I think he held back just a little don't you?
Penn State fans take this from a diehard Miami Hurricanes since 3 years old 1993 this coming from me as a fan. You screwed up hiring Mandy Diaz he set your program back. That'sS right half-man half-girl he pouts and complains when he doesn't get his way Dan Mullens Mississippi State hated his guts bc there was a time he called him a baby. Mack Brown on Texas called him the biggest baby as a coach he was the reason Mack Brown resigned bc of Manny a great winning HC think about that. I heard they had a physical fight after a massacre win by Bob Stoops Sam Bradford Oklahoma. Ladies and gentlemen he had one great year as a defensive coordinator in 2017. Why did he have all Al Golden recruits on defense after we fired Al? Some were 4 to a 5-star talent that's why we were winning! It was a fluke year we went to the ACC championship against Clemson. Dabo Sweeney had other plans he exposed Mandy Diaz defense this a bad hiring take it from me I can’t stand looking at Mandy Diaz face or hearing this fool talk I couldn't wait for Miami to fire him look it he turned his back on Temple who I thought would be a great fit for him bc he could do what he wants knowing small program he a big baby anyways terrible hire by Penn State.

I say give him a chance.
Sandusky had a panic attack (or something like that) on the final drive of the Fiesta Bowl and the players on the field had to call a play.DC looking for Manny, they found him under the in the credenza in the coaches box, saying he can't bear to watch.
So Mack Brown called Manny Diaz a baby?? Oh, no!! Brown won a championship at Texas thanks to Vince Young. He won a total of TWO conference titles at Texas in his 16 years there. He lost four times in the CCG. He never won a conference title in his first stint at UNC and there's no way he'll win one the second time around. Brown is often talked about as a legendary dominant coach but his career reality doesn't match the myth. He doesn't like Manny Diaz. Big deal. One person's thoughts from another board. I think he held back just a little don't you?

There was....I don't recall his handle either.I don't know a lot about Diaz. Has he not surrendered 4th quarter leads? Does he make opposing QBs look more like Joe Mantegna?
Wasn't there a Miami guy who found his way to this board a couple of years back? I can't recall his handle
He was hired as the DC, not the head coach. GeezYeah I live here so easier for me to keep certain info filed away---it was poorly done and I remember IMHO he was way over his head at the U especially when you weren't a HC prior...
Was that the Miami board’s version of Bushwood? That last run on sentence took 8 lines. I think I’d place more trust in his opinion once he learns punctuation. One person's thoughts from another board. I think he held back just a little don't you?

Lol.He was hired as the DC, not the head coach. Geez
That was the only good thing about not have a good run attack this year.Do they still do that LAWN. BOYZ. horse-a$$? I didn’t see it this season.
They have no idea but are quick to complain. To those of you who aren't happy about this hire, I ask whom you would rather have seen Franklin hire for the DC position?
I was talking about Diaz bailing on Temple when TEMPLE offered him the HC job....he was the DC at the U as you know....Temple is a great place for a First Time Head Coach--Stepping stone job...taking over the reins at a Top 50 place for a first time Coach is plane foolish IMHO...He was hired as the DC, not the head coach. Geez

With thats said--now that he is PSU's DC he can focus on what his organically designed skill sets are whilst knowing what its like (EMPATHY) being a head coach. Perhaps he will be better and refocus and commit himself to his craft.
I corrected one---missed Plain--thank you.First time HC Lincoln Riley sucked so bad at Oklahoma that USC hired him. If only he'd taken a stepping stone job first.
Kiffin and Bill digress.
I almost posted the same exact thing! Sounds like an educated individual. Was that the Miami board’s version of Bushwood? That last run on sentence took 8 lines. I think I’d place more trust in his opinion once he learns punctuation.
We’ll see how the Diaz hire plays out. Sometimes people just click in the right situation after struggling at other places.
The good news is if you hate the hire, Manny usually spends around 2 years in a position before he moves on.
Until then, let’s see what he can do. Hopefully he will expect players to wrap up while tackling and not make average QBs look like All Americans when they play PSU.
<rolling eyes> Yeah, spot on. SMDH.That was the only good thing about not have a good run attack this year.
this board will b***h regardless who is hiredTo those of you who aren't happy about this hire, I ask whom you would rather have seen Franklin hire for the DC position?
Lincoln didn't build that program he inherited it, he lucked out big time with that Mike Vick esk run by Caleb Williams benching Mr. Rattler. OtherwiseFirst time HC Lincoln Riley sucked so bad at Oklahoma that USC hired him. If only he'd taken a stepping stone job first.
They "digress?"
Saban has hired more former head coaches as analysts than he has as assistants. Regardless, maybe one day you'll be able to compare Franklin's W/L record and championship trophies to Saban's, but I digress.
Maybe we should have hired a Pitt guy, that would ripen well here.So Mack Brown called Manny Diaz a baby?? Oh, no!! Brown won a championship at Texas thanks to Vince Young. I'm leery of Miami fans' opinions anyway. Diaz is a Miami native who attended FSU so it's not like he's a favorite son who returned home. That would be Mario Cristobal. Is should come as no surprise to see Miami fans welcome back Cristobal while cutting down the FSU guy.
Worked out ok for BB!He Didnt...it was similar to Belicheck and the Jets....got the Job offer and Miami offered him the HC job and he reneged on Temple.
It Did but do you Respect that as a Fan? And thats the Pros its a business...CFB is supposed to have some form of Honor...obviously its loosing that real quick and is being eroded by selfishness in all facets.Worked out ok for BB!
He types like he's still 3 years oldOne person's thoughts from another board. I think he held back just a little don't you?

Al Golden to startTo those of you who aren't happy about this hire, I ask whom you would rather have seen Franklin hire for the DC position?
Doubtful. People on here were calling him a horrible coach and recruiter back in early October. If Clemson had hired Diaz, posters here would be saying "why can't Franklin get a guy like that?"
Since when is Pitt the measuring stick to weather a guy can coach or not??Good enough to beat Kenny Pickett on the road.
