We as fans, alumni, and supporters of Mississippi State Athletics and Mississippi State Football need to embrace the fact that we need a new separate, indoor practice facility for football and a new South Endzone, and more funding for NIL in order to be come competitive in the SEC Football race. Alumni and donors must step up to the plate and realize that we need these things to be competitive in SEC football and we must have the funding for these things. So all of you alumni donors that have money, I know that you are out there, why are you complaining that Mississippi State has become non-competitive in football and we have not been able to attract the best players, coaches, and administrators. Most of Mississippi State athletics teams sports have winning all-time percentages. We must step up to the plate in order to become competitive in the SEC football race. We have upgraded basketball, baseball, and even tennis facilities in recent years. However, Davis Wade Stadium needs South Endzone seating, and the football program needs a full-size indoor practice facility that is available all year round. We need more NIL funding to attract the best players to help us win in football in this new expanded SEC. The SEC has become bigger in 2024, so Mississippi State Football needs to become bigger in order to compete in the SEC football race. Thanks, as an alumnus 2000, 04, 06.

1. We can’t fill the seats we have, adding more isn’t the answer.
2. This is the softest team I think I’ve ever seen, practicing in a climate controlled facility isn’t going to improve that.
I’m pretty cynical right now so I could be wrong but I’m not spending any more money to find out.

I disagree. No one wants to sit all the way in the upper deck. I have been up there and it is uncomfortable and too far from the field. Also if you have a fear of heights, it is uncomfortable. We will fill the south endzone just like the north endzone. People like end zone seating. You are closer to the field in the endzone. I would like to see a curved South Endzone that produces a full bowl. The Jumbotron may need to be elevated higher. How about give free admission to all high school students? We just played at Tennessee. look at that atmosphere. How do we compete with that? Build it and they will come. We will win again. I remember 2001-2006 football. I hope it does not take that long. Build it first and by the time construction is complete we will be winning again just like in 2014. We need excitement in the program. Look at Vanderbilt's stadium expansion in both endzones. Metal bleachers could be used used temporarily in the south endzone until funding more funding is available.
For the indoor practice facility, I think the current one is not 100 yards and we share it with the baseball team and other sports. Recruits notice these things. Remember the basketball player that left because we did not have a practice facility? I think it affects recruiting. Our donors must step up.

Better practice spaces won't make slow players faster.

Any money available for facilities should go toward player contracts to buy better talent.
Why can't we just add metal bleachers in the south endzone that connect to the main grandstand to create a full bowl? This would not cost that much and they would fill up by fans who can be closer to the field. I know a 2014-type expansion would cost a lot of money. I do agree that money needs to go to player contracts to attract the best players. But we also need a more intimidating and difficult atmosphere for opposing teams. So having stadium steating closer to the field in the south endzone would create a more intimidating environment, especially if a full bowl was created. Use metal seating until money for concrete frame construction is available.

Send your post to Selman. Before you do I would not repeat myself three times like you did in the first post. I think a lot of fans are already spending a lot on the program by attending games. They give a lot to sit in a section then pay for tickets. How much do you recommend everyone give?

Better practice facilities and more seating may not make current players faster, but it would definitely be eye candy to bring in faster players…especially when we’re competing with the northern school that has an IPF, and almost 70,000 at their most recent game.

You do know that the end zone seating other than the clubs is students, right?

Bowling in the South endzone would be cool and most likely aesthetically pleasing but you can bet your aśš a large portion of it would be premium/luxury seating. They wouldn’t just put 10k chair backs in there.

It’s 80 degrees in November right now. We have 2 games left. There’s a lot more pressing needs to our success than an indoor facility.

He obviously thinks that all the posters on this website are ‘rich folk’ who are sitting on our money. My read on SPS is that we all care about MSU or we wouldn’t be bitching about the product on the field, the coaches, and the administration of athletics, however, while we ain’t poor, we don’t have the super rich as MSU alums that other SEC schools have. I give what I can, but truthfully what I give wouldn’t buy a defensive lineman for a month, and I give what I can afford each year without harming my bottom line.

Indoor facility, yes. A new south endzone to compete in the SEC? Good lord.

The product on the field is what helps you be competitive in the league and we haven’t been good enough to do that in most of our lifetimes.

The building we play in has NOTHING to do with that. And hell we can’t fill the rest of the building anyway. What does a bowled in endzone have to do with it

No the 17 we don’t. We need a competent coaching staff and boosters willing to buy a competitive roster. Take your b!+ch a$$ back to Genespage.

What the cost? You can PM me
I can make it public. It's not a secret.

This is the breakdown for one camera setup:

camera $450-$600
Software box $225
Mounting hardware $50
Tower climb $1,000-$1,200
Software subscription $50/month

We currently have some cameras on hand. Our supplier put them on sale a while back and we ordered a few.

our biggest issue is the tower climb. We had a guy that would do it for about $450 a camera but he left. The price above is ballpark what we can get it for now.

The other big restraint is the software subscription. That may sound odd at just $50 but when you multiply that by each camera then it becomes a factor when you don't have a consistent steady source of income. That was why we had hoped to raise a lot of money off this fundraiser to help give us an operating budget for the foreseeable future. So far we've raised $94.

This project should be fun for other reasons. It's great how you have combined it, too, but the camera initiative has a more important reason to be completed.

It's a slippery slope. We need more fans and better facilities to attract better athletes, and we have to begin by attracting better athletes to create the atmosphere where we want many people to show up at the ball games. So, which do you put first? The facilities or the athletes to help you win? We keep asking questions, and so we are stuck in a never-ending circle.

Fans aren't going to organically do this. We need visionary leadership to paint the picture and organize before any of what you posted has a chance.
Can't believe I am agreeing with you, but you are 100% correct! When our administration takes hiring for football seriously, like Indiana and Missouri and Tennessee and Ole Miss finally did, then the fans will have something to get behind and help financially. But the Admin has to move first. So we give this guy 1 more year to understand that taking a program from a 5-7 cluster to a 2-10 disaster isn't acceptable beyond a 2 year experiment, then go hire a successful head coach who will bring their entire staff!

An indoor practice facility will not do crap to make us better at football. The only thing that will do that is putting the interlocking MSU back on the helmets.
So many of us are members of the “We don’t play good until we look good club.” 😂

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just tear down the M-Club building and leave the South End Open and just charge the Junction Tailgaters to stay at their tailgate and watch from booster chairs!

Has the administration made this a priority? Serious question. I’m not in tune with the stated goals of the department. I would think that if they had you would cite a path for directed giving? Can I at least get a brick with “17” on it for my donation?
