PSU is below his pay grade. Further, Franklin has already been in contact with Moorhead.

Not sure if I missed something, but this is the first I’ve heard that. I would think that to be a very likely possibility.

How about a young, African American man from Pittsburgh that runs one of the most dynamic offenses in the country. Educate yourselves on Brennan Marion...

Excerpt
In order to run the Go-Go, Marion said UNLV will need big offensive linemen who excel at run blocking, as well as a stable of playmaking running backs. On the outside, he wants at least one receiver with the speed to stretch the field vertically.

From there, Marion uses a variety of formations and pre-snap motions to warp defenses and open wide running lanes. And UNLV will do it at a breakneck pace, getting up to the line quickly and snapping the ball to catch defenses off-balance.

Marion said the goal is for UNLV to run at least 70 offensive plays per game next year. In his time at Howard, the Bison clocked in at 73 plays. (In three years under the previous coaching staff, the Scarlet and Gray averaged 63 plays each week.)

Would gladly take him or Kingsbury. We need to open this offense up. Problem is I am not sure JF truly wants an offense like that

Here’s a crazy thought: why not give Joe Brady a call? He’s won at LSU with a pro-style QB in Burrow. Would he come back to State College?

I mentioned him. a few people commented that his star may be fading.

I thought he was a target when MY was hired.

No JF clearly wants an offense that reads the defense pre snap...there is no gameplan, just call the play that is best suited against that defensive look player personnel be damned then with the play clock sitting at 10 and the defense changes their look.... be dammed

I mean there are endless possibilities of plays when you get a good look at the defense pre snap,, Our guys are so good that they can run any version or any combination of plays even the swinging gate!! because you know the coaches have all this offensive experience they can out think any other coaching staff .....and have coached up the players to execute any and all combinations

Yes sarcasm.

we suffer from Analysis Paralysis plain and simple...Never mind trying the KISS method and actually utilize the personnel and the strengths they have and say maybe do 10-15 plays extremely well despite the defensive look.

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but look at all the Ws. This is their best season since 1984..
Its not Clearly scUM has better personnel and just beat them and just overwhelmed them.. But yes look at what they do against most likely personnel equal teams

Yeah as long as we can also have receivers like JaMarr Chase and Justin Jefferson and a QB like Burrow, then he might be ok. He ain’t helping Josh Allen much these days.
There’s zero chance PSU gets a top NFL guy having tons of success right now. They’re relegated to two options: a damaged goods OC who’s had some mixed success recently or a relative unknown from a smaller program.

Moorhead was option 2 his first time here. He’d be option 1 today after the MSU fail.

And JoMo can bring back Billy Fessler, his current OC at Akron, to hold a clipboard and wear his hat backwards on the sidelines.

I don't know. I tend to gravitate toward the "damaged goods" hire because that person has at least had significant success. See Manny Diaz as one example. I don't know whether JoMo or Brady is feasible right now, but PSU needs someone to come in and hit the ground running.

I strongly suspect that the Yurcich firiing was to calm the Allar camp. He's undoubtedly looking around right now.

Agree, but I don't see Allar fitting JoMo's scheme.

Really? Allar was recruited by Yurcich and praised him.

I would not be surprised if Allar does look around at options. The surrounding cast at Penn State is not all that attractive. Who wants to look like a work in progress to the NFL scouts? Lots of dollars are involved. With openings coming up at quarterback at programs like Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Washington, and maybe Oklahoma, all with quarterback friendly offenses, Allar would be a fool not to look.

There are so many football geniuses on this board. Surely some of them will apply for the job. They know how to fix the offense; they tell us every week!

^^^ This. It drives me nuts watching all the finger pointing, hand clapping, look to the sideline, more finger pointing, more waving at players in motion, more hand clapping then finally a snap. Meanwhile, I can just immagine the o-line going through shifts in blocking strategy to match the evolving play call and shifting defensive personel.
