How can anyone support this anymore? Stop the rationalizing please. This program is garbage after how many Franklin years? Stop the Covid crap, the great recruiter crap etc.
this is embarrassing and who we are. I need to accept it…it’s difficult. But we are nothing anymore than a middle of the pack has been. So disappointed.

Hey, losing a close, competitive game, no problem. Watching "elite" coaches and players get blasted in ever aspect of the game is another. Gave Franklin a break for covid in 2020 and injuries in 2021, but I guess new excuses this season. Not even competitive.
Okay, so we got beat by one of the best teams in the country. We gave up a ton of rushing yards to a team with the best offensive line in the country and one of the best running backs in the country. We got beat by a better team. We are not as good as Michigan. But using this as an excuse for all of the whining and complaining is pathetic.

Did anyone really think we were a top 5 team before the season started?

They have lost close, competitive games and this board melted down more than it has today

Not the greatest Michigan team I have ever seen, but they can beat anyone not named OSU, Bama, or Georgia.

Franklin better make something out of Allar, because this is going to be year three of no signature wins.

Glad you can rationalize and glad you are cool with being a crappy team. Enjoy

Some here just will not admit to it. They're willing to accept this and those who dare question these type of performances are disloyal. So be it, call me disloyal.

Franklin Fan Club. They win either way;
if we win, they gloat about Franklin. If we lose, they goat that we’re stuck with him.

The performance today was not a top 40. That is the real issue. We are not near a top 20 program year in and out.

He is comfortable and confident he is safe--hence why I have stated more than once his arrogance
I agree. The university has basically capitulated to his every request, but at some point he is going to have to break through.

Slightly worse than I expected. I was figuring 31-13 or thereabouts. Penn State with no sustained drives resulting in touchdowns – one TD was a long QB escape and the other a defensive TD. No ball control – beat 2-1 in TOP. I thought this game would set the tone for the rest of the season and it has. Defense is unable to stop a good ground game – that weakness will be exploited as much as possible going forward. 8-4 for the season? Good enough for the Franklin apologists I guess. Glad I didn't watch the game, kept up on Yahoo and ESPN. Will just delete this one off the Tivo.

The way we have recruited, we’re one of the top 10, if not better.

Tough to watch. But, honestly it would’ve been impressive to hang with Michigan. We’ve only played decently against Ohio and Auburn. And how good are they? Struggles with CMU and Northwestern. Truly a long way from consistently competing with Michigan and OSU. Sadly, seems easier to lower expectations than have faith we will get to the next tier.

Anyone who asked me about the game this week, I said that we'd learn a lot about both teams in this game but don't discount the fact that PSU had won 2 road games against Power 5 teams. Welp, they fooled me again with this performance.

It won’t be him who breaks through. It will be like 2016 where it happened in spite of him, because an assistant coach got something done, and the players had a strong will to win.

2021 all over again...... There's a good chance PSU will be 5-3 in two weeks. Then it will be a matter of holding the team together for the last 4 games.

Uh, Maryland hung with Michigan. The FFC have gaslit everyone here to be happy with ridiculously low expectations…

What? Low percentage pass play on 4th down is unimpeachable coaching logic.
Only in hindsight could you say punt! /sarcasm
The 4th down low-percentage play call was dumb, but the decision not to punt definitely wasn't. They haven't stopped Michigan all day, so you have to at least try to match their score. 🤷‍♂️
Another second half collapse. Two or three more losses a certainty. This is the worst defensive performance in a long long time.
No offense, but "second half collapse" is a misnomer for that game...the second half was (unfortunately) exactly the same as the first but without the lucky play.

This board will need a warning label for toxic levels when we play OSU. That can ugly very quickly if no improvements are made by then in every aspect of the game.

Lol I know exactly what you’re talking about. Time for the “you DESERVE better” comments like there’s something wrong with wanting your alma mater to play well. Shame on such thinking.

I thought we would lose today (but closer score). Minnesota is the game to watch out for - we lose that, things could get ugly…

True. However, both Maryland and Indiana hung in with Michigan, played better, and had better game plans than PSU did.

Its really time for the band aid to be ripped off and and the rationalizations and excuses to stop. Maryland and Indiana gave better effort and had better results than PSU did against Michigan. Let that sink in a moment.

THIS ^^^^. The excuses and rationalizations need to end. It’s year 9 and they can’t execute a simple screen play or slant and they couldn’t block or tackle your local high school team.
Don’t disagree guys. Truly resigned to the idea we will get beat 80% of the time against better teams. I’m all for tearing down (bye, James) and starting over. But if PSU refuses to do that, I’ll just hope for a 9-3 record and once every decade maybe we will get lucky to play in a Rose Bowl.

Should have honored CJF’s original contract; no reason in the world to extend him 10 years in a year where he finished 7-6 with a new AD coming onboard. It shows PSU is happy to pay champagne prices for Boone’s Farm. Franklin has no sense of urgency because why should he?

Thats the model we need to expect now. And I dont think 9 wins are guaranteed this year or next. The way our defense catches blocks and the glacial progress of our O-line makes me think 9 wins are the ceiling until those things get fixed.
