A couple of fun notes on today's game:

--First time with multiple defensive scores since the 2005 Illinois game
--First time with 3 non-offensive scores since the 1998 Bowling Green game (Joe's 300th win)

a natty before I die- and starting over with some new unnamed coach won't get that done

Unlikely a natty happens with this one though. Statistics firmly against a coach in his 10th year winning one (this century anyway). Don’t die!

I was at a lacrosse game.

details please, 1 and 2 went so hard in hs, I miss it bad
Yeah, I have a freshman moving up to JV/varsity. He’s getting a lot of valuable playing experience in some varsity fall games in preparation for next spring. It’s a really fun game to watch. I never knew much about it until he started playing back in second grade.

Thank you. I am. He’s played club ball too since about 4th grade, but there’s something to be said for representing your school. We have made a lot of new friends along the way.
Yeah we did all the summer tourneys. Son1 made New Jersey all state senior year in HS, was leading scorer on his team. 2 was an all star in Chicago. Both played club at STATE. The dads became my best friends

Doesn’t happen like that anymore. Average time to win a natty since 2000 is about 4 years. None since then took longer than 9.
And how many coaches fall into those parameters? Do those that don’t all suck?

Well I guess we should hire a new coach every four years? Is this what other programs do?

Do we have other options?

Yes. It’s what LSU, Auburn, FSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and others did and it paid off. The trade off is the inevitable in between years that may suck. Think about it - if not for the Pitt or Michigan loss, we’re likely in the playoff in 2016 - easily Franklin’s best year and three years into his tenure.

Oh I am completely aware of 2016. It was the Pitt loss that kept PSU out of the playoffs.

ok. Let’s start a GoFund Me to pay off the Franklin buy out and then the buy out for the next coach

who should we target? Dabo? Kelly? Riley? Clearly once we change coaches we will be in the CFP. Can’t believe the Administration has not seen this obvious tend.

by the way-Nebraska MSU Iowa Rutgers Wisconsin Washington UCLA et Al have changed coaches snd did not win the NC. Why do you think that is?

Time of Possession yesterday:

Penn State = 30:11
rutgres = 29:49

A whopping 22-second difference. We’re lucky to have come away with a dominating win. You would think Franklin would have fixed this by Game 11. For f*ck’s sake.

Do you have thoughts on how STATE makes progress if not new coaches?

don't confuse these people with facts

Name the last coach who took longer than 9 years to win a NC at one school. Tom Osborne - 1994 (20 years). Not saying Franklin or anyone else (Harbaugh) couldn’t do it, but it’s more likely to happen early if it’s gonna happen. This year LSU and USC could get into the CFP with year one coaches.

The new coach thing will likely only work at the dozen or so schools that have all other things in place already (money, fan base, tradition) who can realistically win a NC (PSU among them). Also helps if you’re not in the Big Ten.

Nothing we can do about the self sabotage that is Franklin’s contract. Just pointing out ‘facts’ as some have been want to mention here…

we're going to be 10-2 this year with a young and improving team- changing coaches would be beyond stupid, even for our fanbase

I agree 100% but he won’t be here forever. Let’s agree if he doesn’t win the big ten while 15 is here, we should hire a new coach. Fair?

I'm not opposed to that idea- except that I have yet to hear the name of the guy who would both be better and would be willing to take the job. Change is only for the better if it's for the better.

Did you think Orgeron would win a NC at LSU?
