Don't disagree. But in 2008, Dabo's resume did not scream "national championship coach." Indeed, a lot of Clemson boosters didn't think so at the time.

Will be interesting to see if coaches who put together excellent records (10+ wins a season) start to get fired if they fail to get over the hump.

I would be in favor of a coaching change if I believed that it was likely that we'd be better as a result. I think it's more likely that we'd be worse.

This is where I’m at also. If you tell me tomorrow that PSU is moving on and hired Dabo, Saban, Smart, or Day, I’d be giddy. However, those guys aren’t leaving their current situation for PSU. Why would they? The only proven commodity available currently is Urban and I don’t think PSU would touch him with a 10 foot pole. PSU isn’t in a position to deal with negative publicity a coach with questionable character would bring. I’m also not sure I would celebrate that hire. We would have to hold our nose and close one eye to accept that.

Eagles fans today through 3 quarters against the Colts:
“They suck. They are bums. Hurts stinks. Howie doesn’t know what he is doing. Sirianni should be fired at halftime.”

Eagles fans at the end of the game:
“E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles! Super Bowl baby! Bring on KC! Sirianni is coach of the year! Hurts for MVP! “

Sometimes I forget we have a portion of our PSU fans from this background.

They specifically asked about Penn State - the thinking was it’s mostly hollow if you can’t beat either Michigan or OSU and almost expected these days. The ultimate ‘meh’ would be to get someone like UCF in a bowl game.

The draft is the great equalizer in the NFL - as is the playoff system. No comparison to college.

Depends on the school's objectives. Mark Richt does it for nine of his fifteen years at UGa and it gets him fired.
