True but we won. Let's hope we get better before the next game. And herein lies the issue. This game should not have been anywhere near this close. Nights like tonight are how you go 7-6 each year.
Good night, gang. They won. Somehow.

He played like crap in the second half until then, he was messing with themProps to Clifford for being a boss on that last drive.
My comment did not age well. Gladly will eat my crow.
I'm too old for many more of these. Sleep well. And herein lies the issue. This game should not have been anywhere near this close. Nights like tonight are how you go 7-6 each year.
Clifford with 3 TD passes in 4th1st down -- incomplete, and K. Ellis nearly with an INT
2nd down -- steps out at the 31 for a 1st down
1st down -- sack by Johnny Dixon on a delayed blitz, with 35 sec left!!! Purdue calls TO. They are on their own 21.
2nd down -- complete to their 36.
3rd down -- incomplete, 15 sec left in the game
4th down -- need 5 for a 1st ... screen, and he slides down for a 1st, with 7 sec left, on their own 42
1st down -- probably the last play of the game, unless they do a quick out ... incomplete, with 4 sec left. Joey Porter with another great play
2nd down -- will be the last play ... Chop Robinson with the sack!!!!
Final: 35-31, PSU
Orrrrr, you can look at it for exactly what it was -- first game of the season with question marks in a lot of places in a hostile road environment at night and they found a way to win.And herein lies the issue. This game should not have been anywhere near this close. Nights like tonight are how you go 7-6 each year.

He is exasperating.Props to Clifford for being a boss on that last drive.

How’d this script work for them last year?Orrrrr, you can look at it for exactly what it was -- first game of the season with question marks in a lot of places in a hostile road environment at night and they found a way to win.
But you go on with your glass half empty BS
Even sadder, PSU is regressing on both Offense and Defense. And herein lies the issue. This game should not have been anywhere near this close. Nights like tonight are how you go 7-6 each year.

Seems like they forced the run on early downs. Needs to mix it up better IMO.Yurcich doesn't do enough mixing up....they could have shredded Purdue defense with crossing routes all night How about a screen or pitchout to our RBs? At least a crappy win is better than a crappy loss. Lots to improve on....some good.
I can't help but to think a lot of the problem was the play calling. We mostly ran between the tackles and dropped back in the pocket to pass. One of the worst throws I've ever seen, followed by one of the best drives. Elated by the win, but we don't need that nonsense from a 6th year QB with extensive playing experience. Let Clifford go out on that high note, and let's move on to the future ...
Same hereFor me it was never really in doubt.
It was almost like they changed their offense on that last drive. Uptempo and opened up the playbook.I can't help but to think a lot of the problem was the play calling. We mostly ran between the tackles and dropped back in the pocket to pass.
The last drive had QB rollout, WR screens, misdirection, TE, RB out of the backfield, etc. Much better tempo.
That was last year. How’d this script work for them last year?
A logical question might be, “why was the play calling awful until late?”I can't help but to think a lot of the problem was the play calling. We mostly ran between the tackles and dropped back in the pocket to pass.
The last drive had QB rollout, WR screens, misdirection, TE, RB out of the backfield, etc. Much better tempo.
Somehow we did. I didn't expect it.You don’t come back from plays like that.
