I am 52 and still young enough to remember that I paid $30 in 1989 for my student season tix. The price increased $1 per year over the next 4 years so the price was $36, 42, 48, then 54 respectively until graduation in DEC 1993. It kept going up at the nearly same rate at least until my son was a freshman in 2011 when he paid in the neighborhood of $200 for 6 or 7 home games.
Pretty sure my '83 freshman year ticket was $28. Pay that for a hot dog and a beer now.

I have become familiar with members thru posts, such as lion-Jim being proficient in math. But I just turned 50 and curious of some posters age. I know Tom might be the oldest (Just a joke Tom, I'm thankful for you creating this forum). Well, if you care to share just post in this thread. The impetus of this post was because of the Diane Lane infatuation with some members. I recently watched an interview when she was 18 and WOW. But I was 9 years old in 1983 and more into matchbox and He-Man, when some of our members were into fulfilling or daydreaming of a primal desire with said lass.

61, and I know that one year I paid $24 for my student ticket. Just not sure which of my 4 years that was.

Same - by a month.
59. I'm so old that when I was an undergrad, admission to sporting events was free for students. Of course, the lone exception was football. Student football season tickets were in the mid $20 range. They would punch the ticket at the gate.
Football tickets were $2 a game when I went to PSU. They were individual game tickets back then. All other sports including MBB were free. Nothing like a full house to watch wrestling against Lehigh at Rec Hall.

I remember Marquette coming to Rec Hall with Butch Lee and Jerome Whitehead. Also Rollie Massamino and Villanova and I believe Syracuse. Dick Harter was the coach and future NBAer Frank Brickowski was on the squad.

OT:
Yep, I remember Marquette coming in the season after winning the NC, and we were up at the half. If the 3-point shot had been a thing back then, we probably would have won... Jeff Miller was lights out in the 1st half, then they went box-and-1 and contained him in the 2nd half.
Back in HBO's infancy, besides showing the occasional 8oo8s on your very own TV(!!), they did some live sports. One was Syracuse at PSU at Rec Hall. We played them tough but lost a close one, iirc. Carvin Jefferson at Center for us had a decent game, but one sprint down the floor had him 'throw' a shoe from close to midcourt that almost hit the bucket. I think someone invented velcro for sneakers shortly after! /s/
Brick was a tough man, can't recall if he was there as a freshman when I was still there (I graduated in Fall '78). But he led PSU hoops to brighter days while he was there.
Dick Harter came in for the 78-79 season and expected to recruit the same way he had previously. Not so fast, Coach! Still, he almost landed Reggie Jackson out of Baltimore - probably not enough of an "NIL" deal, though! I forget where he went - maybe Maryland - but that would have been a huge get for us back then.

I recall my first student season tickets in '74 were $24 total, 6 home games. I can't remember when they went up after that, but I'm pretty sure I paid more than that in my later school seasons.
I was there for 5 football seasons, '74-'78, and got my regular season tickets immediately after that, starting with the '79 season. I've had season tickets for 50 seasons. Lots and lots of great, memorable players and teams and games and seasons. I've been very fortunate that way as a life-long PSU football fan.

Great memories! I think I wore a chimpanzee mask to one of the televised games and made it on TV!

Another Rec Hall memory. December 12, 1984. (Yeah, I had to look up the date). The Penn State men were hosting #2 DePaul who were lead by Philadelphia prep legend Dallas Comegys. Being free for students, before the doors opened there was a line down Curtin Rd. past Pattee. PSU decided to make it a double header so there was a Lady Lions game first. The 8,000+ people were likely the largest home crowd at the time for the women's team. I can't recall who they played but I believe they won handily.

As for the men, they lost 78-61. Three days later DePaul was blown out at #1 Georgetown 77-57. We were likely seen as a tune up game before they made the bus ride to D.C. to play the Hoyas. Even though we lost big, maybe we wore them down for the game against Georgetown.
