OT: To PSU Admin lurkers regarding the "mysterious" 10 year drought in athletics fundraising

Not directed to you specifically HV1, but seeing how other schools have subsequently handled scandals tells me that they (PSU BOT and Admin) were outright incompetent.
That corporate playbook didn’t work too well in this case.
I believe that whatever “playbook” that the Evil Ones were using has worked out superbly for them, to this point. They knew exactly what they were doing.
The BOT did more than just accept it, they directed Fact Freeh to establish and promote the story they wanted to tell…
The "corporate playbook" is the deny/fight and defer any actions. They did the opposite of that - because they intentionally wanted to throw PSU and Joe under the bus.
The people responsible for establishing the narrative that was in the Freeh report and the NCAA consent decree and the people who went along with it or did nothing publicly to challenge or change it--and I'm talking about people like Surma, Peetz, Frazier, Lubert, Erickson, Hintz, Silvis--are all quite wealthy and most of them have given generously to PSU in the past. If the indelible stain they put on the University's name is showing prominently in the athletic department ledger, as far as I'm concerned every one of them can open their own wallets a little wider to help reduce the damage they caused.
As it stands, the football and basketball programs generate enough of a surplus to pay for everything and the situation will improve measurably when the new Big Ten media rights deals kick in.
What is to be done with Beaver Stadium and how to pay for it is another kettle of fish. Historically, aside from Pegula, the Athletic Department hasn't had donors who contribute at a level that would make a dent in that.
This is all so entertaining, the whole group of you complaining about the treatment of alumni and Paterno.
Your group is definitely the cheapest, laziest bunch I've ever seen. You all claim to be former donors that are withholding these princely sums. I'd be willing to bet that the majority bitching never donated a dime.
Joe is dead and gone. He's been honored as much as he will ever be by the university, so get a grip on reality and move on to things more productive than wishing your life away. You want to honor him? Get off your lazy asses and organize something yourself. It has been a dozen years and you all have done NOTHING.

If posting that splenetic invective and string of puerile insults constitutes your idea of "hard work and dedication" intended to garner goodwill and is you "help[ing] to figure out a way to get donors to show their support," you should rethink your fitness to serve as a fundraising ideas guy and as an alumni-elected trustee.
