Trick question, like when did you stop beating your wife but you knew that.except that wasn't the question

That’s an awful way to indicate your mistake
Those of us from this era wore floppy socks to emulate Maravich.IDK but what's with Pete's socks?
Yeah, that was me. I cried when Pete died. Those of us from this era wore floppy socks to emulate Maravich.
Danica’s math bonafides are considerable. Not much doubt she’d have a doctorate now if that’s what she had decided to do.Got both here

Though I share the opinion that the argument is silly. Both were incredible and fascinating to watch. It could be pointed out that Clark reached her milestone with less shot attempts. Her current shot total is 2593 in 4 years while Maravich took 3166 shots in 3 years. I do agree that Maravich's 44+ per game average would be significantly higher with the 3-point line.PP for a few reasons...
#1 - no 3 point line
#2 - one less season
#3 - he played against, you know, grown men
Very well said. The first time I watched Maravich play on TV, he scored 64 points against Kentucky.Imagine a world where all you really saw was box scores for Clark. You don’t see all her games and you dont even see the non stop coverage of her highlights 24-7 on television. You don’t have ESPN and you don’t have the internet. Her team might not even play in the Tournament preventing any chance you have of seeing her.
That is what you had with Maravich for the vast majority of the country. He was as illusive and mysterious as he was great. I’m not sure if his legend was enhanced or diminished as a result. How could you judge what you couldn’t see or was he even greater because you only imagined how great he was because you didn’t see him.
I don’t begrudge Clark but you had to live through the experience of the whisper down the lane that was the legend of Pistol Pete
I do know who we BOTH actually saw a lot and that was Calvin Murphy. I can say with certainty, you had to see that to believe it.Very well said. The first time I watched Maravich play on TV, he scored 64 points against Kentucky.
