"The player said the tradition was especially common during training camp and around Thanksgiving and Christmas, which he said the team called “Runsgiving” and “Runsmas.”

How many times did the Wildcats practice around Christmas in the recent past? 🤔

Why on earth is Maggie Haberman re-tweeting articles from NU's student newspaper? Must be the benjamins

I never understood some of these hazing "rituals", and am thankful that I got through my freshman sports seasons without anything more serious than a wedgie in the locker room... why, as a straight male, would you want to rub your junk on some other guy for any reason? I just don't get it

True.... but based on the descriptions and the number of individuals involved I would have to think that a good number of them would be straight. Looking at population percentages it's highly unlikely you have more than a few guys on the team that aren't straight.

JMO but this (or hazing in general) has nothing to do with being gay or straight.

In addition to jumping to conclusions, I get in a lot of exercise running my mouth.
As for exercise, it’s been conclusively shown that running one’s mouth in ASL burns 75% more calories than just flapping your gums.

Northwestern fired baseball coach Jim Foster on Thursday, the school announced.

Foster's dismissal came after allegations of bullying and a toxic environment within the program, sources said.

"Nothing will ever be more important to Northwestern than providing its students a place that allows them to develop in the classroom, in the community, and in competition at the absolute highest level, and building a culture which allows our staff to thrive," athletic director Derrick Gragg said in a statement

Foster came to Northwestern from Army, where he coached from 2017 to 2022 and won four Patriot League titles.

Cadet discipline at NWU 🤔

Dear President Schill, Dr. Gragg, and Mr. Barris,

We are a group of six tenured faculty members who are concerned about the culture of athletics at Northwestern. In 2021, we drew attention to abuses on the Northwestern cheer squad and to the misguided selection of Mike Polisky as Athletic Director after he was implicated in Northwestern’s failure to adequately respond to the cheerleaders’ allegations.

We are dismayed to find Northwestern Athletics embroiled in another major scandal that involves allegations of sexual abuse and harassment as well as negligence or indifference among administrators and coaches. We call on Northwestern leadership to take immediate, comprehensive steps to remedy the current situation and to protect all student athletes from future abuse.

Yeah, and all of the profs put together don't make with the football coach does.

Been a very long time since i visited the Pitt board.....

The Ole Six-Fiver

Dammit. Northwestern gives the B1G absolutely nothing. “ Delivers” about as much of Chicago as Villanova football would of Philadelphia. Can’t they use this case to jettison this dead wood and replace it with us? There may be plenty of legitimate criticism that can be leveled on Pitt and our sports, but repeated organizationally-enabled perverted scandals aren’t among them … at least not until we somehow got into the B1G (perhaps it’s contagious). I’m willing to take that gamble.

What they don't get it isn't about "fit" anymore its what market share do they bring and sorry pitt fans you just don't bring anything. 🤷‍♂️ It is what it is.

In the old days, this was loss of institutional control
In the old days, I believe, there was no such violation! Maybe I'm wrong, I'm 74 yr old...

Foster came to Northwestern from Army, where he coached from 2017 to 2022 and won four Patriot League titles.

Good point wasn't that after SMU received the "Death Penalty"?

”Former Northwestern football coach Pat Fitzgerald, university president Michael Schill and athletic director Derrick Gragg are listed as defendants in a lawsuit filed Tuesday morning by a former Wildcats player who said the program and its leaders were negligent in allowing hazing inside the team's locker room.

The lawsuit also lists the university, its board of trustees and former president Morton Schapiro as defendants. The player filed anonymously, but the lawsuit says he was a member of the team from 2018 through 2022. His attorneys, Patrick Salvi and Parker Stinar, said they have spoken to other former Northwestern players and expect additional football players and Northwestern athletes from other sports to join the lawsuit in the coming days and weeks.”

Any Second Mile Kids expected in the lawsuit? They do have experience in fabricating testimony.

Never ceases to amaze me how all the players at Northwestern have been quiet and not peep about hazing. As soon as it goes public they lining up in droves to sue NU and Fitzgerald. Why did no one come forward before now? But once it is in public everyone piles on...
