Hopefully, many of our Negative Nellies.
Fyi...players opting out of the bowl game is not necessarily negative my friend. It opens up opportunities for others and eliminates risk of injury for players who are trying to maximize their NFL opportunities.

Did you buy your Thanksgiving Turkey last April? Do you have your Christmas shopping done in June? I was hoping that we could at least enjoy the last win for a few days, before this always contentious topic arose. Anyway, you’re probably right on all the names.
I simply posted for discussion. You don't have to participate. The bowl game is a few weeks away. There are some subjects posted here that don't take place for months.

Airing of grievances should not just be limited to Festivus my friend.

Jacobs not playing would be a curious decision simply because I don’t think he’s done all that much to distinguish himself this season. Is he protecting his 3rd/4th round spot by sitting out. Just too many games this season where I didn’t notice him. I also think it would be a mistake if Kalen declares. But these are just the opinions of a watcher and not someone who has dollar signs tugging at him.

Just my thoughts, but i could hardly disagree more. I thought Jacobs was outstanding all year, & played beyond what I thought would be his ceiling. And while Carter is certainly the better LB, there were times that he clearly overran plays, made bad reads, etc. I rarely noticed negative plays by Jacobs this year

As for Kalen, he laid an egg against Harrison. That stung for us as fans & it probably cost hom a few buck. But he still figures to be one of the 1st CB's off the board. It would be a reckless financial decision to not go

It also impacts betting lines.

May have several who you think might opt out play like Saquon did in the Fiesta Bowl. Spot play in key situations. Like Chop only on third and long. Gives them a chance to showcase with lowered risk of injury. Olu has done this several times this season. If they are paired with Tulane, I would opt all who might get drafted

George Costanza Festival GIF

Kalen King posted on Instagram “last game with my dawgs”, for what it’s worth.
This, King is a prime example of someone who should sit out the bowl game. He took one too many hits to the head. “Last game with my dawgs”, he thinks he plays for Georgia. 😀😃😄😁😆
Edit: this is sarcasm in case the humorless or roster management geeks are offended.

Nobody. If they did, they would lose their NIL money instantly. Who is going to pay them for non performance? Take their cars away. They keep their scholarships but they have a contractual agreement to honor.
Is this an actual thing? I’ve no idea.

This brings up my annual question. If they opt out of the bowl game, why did they play last night? Or against Rutgers? Once we lost to Michigan, the B1G was gone. How is the bowl game any less meaningless than the Rutgers game or the MSU game?

Timing I think; opting out keeps you fresh and relatively healthy so you can prepare for the draft. Don't blame anyone for opting out of a non Playoff bowl.

Yeah, I had that exact thought just this past hour. I’m wondering what kind of legal precedent exists.

Good luck to any players as they venture into the meat grinder of the NFL (Not For Long). Take the money and run like Steve Miller said. Anything can happen, Bills starting CB, Christian Benford, is a sixth rounder from Villanova. First rounder Kair Elam has hardly seen the field this year.

But wouldn't they have been more fresh had they not played against Rutgers and MSU? Heck, Chop came back into the game last night even after leaving with an injury. Honestly, my question is more rhetorical. I'm really not sure there is a reasonable answer.

Can you link to the post? Couldn't find it.
Olu, Chop, and King are all projected in the first round by 3 different analysts below. I don't see any way that any of them return but they might play in the bowl game even if it's for a half. Of course Kings comment would suggest he opts out and I would expect the same for all 3.

The question is the rest of the upper classmen.

Jacobs 4th-5th round
Isaac 3rd-4th round
Johnson 4th-5th round
Warren , Nourzad, Wallace, Wormley, Dixon, Hardy, Ellis would likely be free agent picks

I don't blame the players. I blame the system. This doesn't happen in any other sport and as far as I'm concerned it's a big middle finger to the fans.

I say none if it's a New Years 6 game.
I wish you were correct but no chance IMO. Last year the following players opted out of the Rose Bowl to prepare for the NFL or transfer portal:

WR Parker Washington
CB Joey Porter, Jr.
RB Caziah Holmes
DL Ken Talley
QB Christian Veilleux
DL Rodney McGraw

Ken Talley was never wearing PSU gear....not his choice.
