Wouldn't that have something to do with the spotters in the booth with them? Not sure if you ever saw video from the booth but they both have spotters handing them stuff. Still enjoy Merrill and glad he is sticking around.

I could see this if they had never used spotters but they have for multiple seasons, and I could also see if it was just confusing players, but I’ve listened to multiple broadcasts where it’s clear confusion and not someone handing him the wrong info.

As I type this, I think my biggest fear is Merrill turning into another Lee Corso. I’d rather remember Merrill for the first 45 years of his career and seeing the look on his face when they FINALLY presented him with his super bowl ring, than the last 2-3 years of hanging on too long. No one wants to see a loved one hang on too long. Merrill is synonymous with the eagles, and I love the eagles ipso facto I love Merrill.

Damn straight. And those saying Cox "could" be back are naive. If he's taking less money, then contenders in need of a difference maker at DT will be lining up as suitors. Impact DTs don't grow on trees.
If he forced his release, then he has another place lined up to go

Once again it looks like WestSideLion is the naive one.

Kiper now saying that the Eagles will take a receiver with one of their first round picks. in his opinion it will be Chris Olave from Ohio State. What say you fans ??

hard to know for sure, as there is so much smoke thrown about pre-draft.

there was some speculation after they signed Pascal, and not one of the higher rated (and more expensive) WRs, that this indicated they would be looking at WR in the draft.

time will tell.

I’d take 3 defensive players from UGA. I really don’t care what three

This off-season has always been about nailing those three 1st round picks and their 2nd and 3rd rounders. They have 5 in the first 90 or so picks.

That’s how they improve long term. Barnett, Cox, Kelce, etc are all placeholder moves who likely aren’t around in a year or so.

REALLY wish the inquirer wasn’t behind a paywall
I wonder how that’s going for them. They used to give people a few free articles per month. Then we figured out that a private browser window got around that.

Now everything is post paywall. My hunch is the loss of ad revenue due to the traffic drop is not offset by new subscriber dollars.

The newspaper biz is careening into oblivion.

I don't know the answer.

My apologies to @nittanyfan333 and others -- I try to never link articles behind paywalls. Alas, I subscribe to the Inquirer, which gives me access to their online content as well. I'll try to remember that just because I have access to the article doesn't mean that others have access.

In terms of online subscriptions, I read an article in the past year or so that indicated that the NY Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal were the only publications that were doing really well (in terms of replacing lost ad revenue and lost print subscription revenue) with their online subscriptions. I have no way of verifying that; just passing along the info.

In terms of the Philadelphia Inquirer, it's a shell of its former self. There are some things that it still does well, but their investigative unit isn't close to what it once was, and their number of print pages per edition are greatly reduced. They still have a few in-house opinion writers that are good, and their sports coverage is still pretty good. (My only complaint there is that they closed their printing unit, and outsource their printing, so most days their delivered print copy doesn't have anything for games that end after 10-10:30 pm ET.)
