Arizona releases LB Jordan Hicks. He spent 4 seasons here previously. Any interest ?.
at the right price. He played pretty well in AZ last year, though they drafted his replacement, however he got hurt, but when he got better Hicks kept the job

The reason I could support this is that assuming he has a reasonable rate, the Birds could focus their draft picks on other areas of need. Howie has avoided the LB position with early draft picks and this just might assist him in avoiding the LB position in the draft etc.Hicks is still relatively young etc.

I’ll tell you what. There’s no better personification Of Philadelphia sports than Jason Kelce. Even before the mummers costume and speech. Dude is a lunch pail kinda player that does everything and is an amazing leader. Now this???? Dude is on my Mt. Rushmore of all-time eagles.
That’s a nice thing to say.

Hard to argue. Not sure about Mt Rushmore in terms of overall play (his position probably doesn't help), but probably Mt Rushmore in terms of fan favorites. The guy is everything an Eagles fan wants in a player.

I agree his position keeps him shrouded a bit in anonymity. That said, when you take the amount of games played (9 of 11 seasons he played every game), 5 pro bowl, 4 time first team all pro and his athleticism ON TOP OF his intangibles like leadership, charisma and how he’s QBd some of the best OLs in the game? Yeah, he’s an all time Mt. Rushmore eagle not only as a player but as a fan favorite in my book. Granted everyone’s Mt. Rushmore is relative right? I’m 39 so I never saw Bednarik or Van Buren or Jaws play. But in terms of my personal top 4, it’s Dawkins, Westbrook, Randall and Kelce.

Don’t disagree. Great eagle. But as I stated, my Mt Rushmore that I saw play. I mean……. ?

I don't know your age, but Reggie's and Randall's careers with the Birds were around the same time. Reggie's last season with the Birds was 1992. Randall's last season with the Birds was 1995. And Randall's '93, '94, and '95 seasons were a combo of injuries, transitioning to the West Coast offense, and being benched in favor of Rodney Peete. He did very well in '94, but '93 and '95 were terrible years compared to his norms. If all you had to evaluate Randall on was '93, '94, and '95, I don't see how he'd be on your Eagles Mt. Rushmore.

Your right Tom. My opinion is wrong. My bad.

lol, that's going way, way overboard. I'm just trying to understand your response to @Grant Green, where you seemed to imply (didn't say directly) that you hadn't seen Reggie play for the Birds.

Randall was an amazing athlete, and made quite a few spectacular plays. But if all I had was Randall from '93, '94, and '95, and Birds QBs in subsequent years, I'd probably pick #5 over Randall.

If I included Randall from the '87 thru '90 seasons, and '92 and '94, I'd take him over #5. But to include those (if limiting things to players I'd seen play), then I would have seen Reggie play '87 thru '92 (his 1st season with the Birds was '85).

Hmmm…39 or not, shame on you for omitting The Minister of Defense. Reggie was the best ever at his position. ;)

I've been hearing for the past year that the Eagles are one of the teams that have interest.

yeah, their interest has been mentioned by a lot of those close to the situation.

Asking price will be high. Guessing more than Denver gave up for Wilson.
But, Houston lacks some leverage since he won't play there and the Eagles have more capital than most (all?) other teams.

yeah, that's where I lose interest in Deshaun. I thought Denver paid too much for Wilson, and would not be in favor of the Birds giving up that much for Watson. Yes, I think Deshaun would be an upgrade over Jalen, and upgrading QB is something you should always be trying to do. But the Birds have so many needs they really need 2-3 years of good drafts to significantly upgrade the roster. Trading along the lines of what Denver did would really diminish the Birds' ability to upgrade the roster through the draft

As much as I believe they need an upgrade at QB, I’d rather take 3 guys from UGA in the first round and improve the team for 10 yrs

The only way you do that trade is if you think you’re a top QB away from a title. The Eagles aren’t.

Their current window requires significant upgrades and even replacement of some high-end vets who need to move on (ex: Cox and possibly even Slay in a year).

This is Matt Rhule’s Waterloo. Carolina will back up the Brinks truck to get that deal done. Fine by me. I’d rather have Hurts and 4-5 high picks and $30M more in cap space over the next year or two.
Completely agree with this. So many other needs on the roster. Improving the roster will also help Hurts get better. His ceiling may be limited, but I am willing to ride with it for at least another year while other pieces are put in place.

Watson or draft picks is a tough call.

Watson and all the improprieties ... Seems like a bad guy, a predator. But a proven NFL QB. They are hard to find.
Draft Picks ... Look at history, 50-75% of the picks will never play a meaningful game for the Eagles. Or do we get lucky and Howie picks a bunch of winners.

If they can get it done, my bet is the Eagles go for Watson.

Hey Sluggo….living in DFW I am hearing that the Cowboys will be dropping Amari Cooper as they attempt to cut expense. Assuming that’s true….would you add him to the Eagles and save a draft pick for other needs?
