Interesting. That could be a sneaky good signing.

Yeah I’d like this a lot. Especially if it’s a decent length contract. I know the eagles like their 1 and 2 year “prove it” contracts but this dude, while 30, isn’t a cast-aside due to his skill. He just got replaced by a younger player and he’s arguably at the top of his game. Big question is, again at 30, has he seen his best days? I’d argue he’s got 2-3 years in him so I wouldn’t be upset with a 3 year contract. That would take the urgency away from the S position in the draft and allow them to go a bit deeper for a S and give K’Von Wallace someone to learn from.

I wonder if he’s adjusted his asking price. My hunch is if he might be better off waiting until after the draft at this point. Some team will miss on its safety need and pay up for a veteran.

Hasn't played football since 2016.

Low risk signing. I’ve seen it compared to Mailata, though this guy is quite a bit older coming in. We know he’s fast on a track. Maybe they can stash him on the practice squad for a year.

Or wait till closer to the season of a team has a training camp/pre season injury. Even If no team misses on a safety or if none get injured, he’s still be an upgrade over what, 75% of the safeties in the league? Way I look at it, right now his asking price would be the same as if he waited and there were no misses or injuries. If he waits and there is an injury or miss, he can ask for more. Win win

@WestSideLion (and others), I look forward to readying your reaction to this:

I read a FiveThirtyEight article that ranked NFL teams by overall draft value realized (vs. possible) in the past several years and they had Philly at #7 overall. I was surprised. What keeps them that high is finding lower round diamonds who outpace their expected contribution. And that counts too.

I still think that Howie's first and second round picks have been pretty awful for the past 5-6 years. We'll see how Hurts and Smith pan out. They need to nail the next couple of early drafts.
