Ok, Eagle maniacs, what are your first round predictions? And no Clubber Lang “pain” GIFs.
I still don’t understand the WR in the first predictions. LBer, CB and DL are much more pressing needs. That said, Davis and Dean would be my 2 picks. Yeah yeah yeah…. I know howie’s LBer history, but a guy can dream right??

Because the WR draft is fairly deep, the Eagles need one, and with the out of control cost of vet WRs, getting them on rookie deals may be a better way to go.

Agree, it’s a deep WR draft. I wouldn’t mind seeing them take one in the second, but to me the defense is the priority in the first. And I’m still very bullish on Quez Watkins, so I think there is enough there to be able to give the WR room right now a shot with a second year under Sirianni. Build the D this year in the first, then use the 2 firsts next year IF Hurts/Watkins isn’t the answer

I don't necessarily disagree - good arguments either way. Just speculating on how the Eagles are thinking.

I expect them to move up out of 15 and down from 18. 1 pick on defense and 1 on offense.
But I prefer the first 2 picks to be defense.

All defense in the top 5. Making it more likely for Eagles to spend one R1 on offense?

Howie usually gets good value for trades, but giving up 3 late picks to move up two slots doesn't seem to pencil.

I guess they loved Davis and knew ravens were taking him.

this, in a Tennessee offense that ran through Derek Henry with brown being the only real receiving threat. And he STILL put up these numbers. Man…. I wanted 2 x defense but him and smith are gonna be SCARY

yeah, Brown was their 2nd best player. I guess Tennessee didn't want to give him $25 M.

Baring injuries, Jalen will have a lot of assets on O this year. The Birds still need help at DE, LB, S, and CB, so like you, I was hoping for 2 x defense.

It’s hard to fault Howie here. They got the best WR that changed teams tonight. Nobody in the draft would be better this year or next.

The only question is price. #18 and $100 million over 4 years is significant.

They’re all in on seeing what Hurts has!

The write-up on Jordan Davis from Yahoo! Sports:

"Leapfrogging the Ravens (a team heavily connected with Davis), the Eagles miss out on a receiver but land this draft’s unicorn. He’s a dancing bear with rare athleticism for a man this massive. Can he rush the passer? Play more than 30-35 snaps per game? We don’t know. But the Eagles haven’t had a player like this in recent memory. This is a boom-or-bust pick, but we feel pretty good about it. This can change the way teams attack the Eagles dramatically."
